Scope1.1 This test method covers the appraisal of asbestos fibergroups 4 to

3、 7 (see Note 1) in terms of their occupied volumeswhen immersed in water.NOTE 1Quebec Standard designation of chrysotile asbestos grades asdetermined by Test Method D3639.1.2 The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound unitsare to be regarded separately as standard. Sampling, Test Specimens, and Test Units8.1 Sampling:8.1.1 Select a sample in accordance with Test MethodsD2590, in the case of chrysotile asbestos, or D3879 in the caseof amphibole asbestos.8.2 Test Spec

17、imens:8.2.1 Refer to Table 1 for specimen sizes required. Take twospecimens in each case.9. Procedure9.1 Fill the cylinder with distilled water (see Note 2) orTypeIV reagent water as defined in Specification D1193,at2562C 77 6 3F to the 1000 cm3mark of the cylinder.NOTE 2It is recognized that clean

18、water from different locations mayaffect results slightly. Therefore, when results from one laboratory will becompared with the results of another laboratory, distilled water should beused.9.2 Pour the test specimen into the cylinder and add distilledor reagent water to the 2000 cm3mark.9.3 Clamp th

19、e cylinder on the mechanical inverter androtate through 6.3 rad (360) 30 times in one min.
