Types and Composition of Sulfur Concretes4.1 There are currently two types of commercial sulfurconcrete technology in use. Both utilize cyclopentadiene-typehydrocarbons reacte
7、d polymerically with sulfur, but the sulfurconcrete production processes differ. Each technology is de-scribed further in 4.1.1 and 4.1.2.4.1.1 Type 1Type 1 sulfur concrete uses sulfur polymercement made by reacting a blend of dicyclopentadiene andoligomers of cyclopentadiene with sulfur. The sulfur
8、 polymercement shall conform to the chemical and physical require-ments prescribed in Table 1.4.1.2 Type 2Type 2 sulfur concrete uses a sulfur modifiermade by reacting sulfur with an oligomeric polymer ofcyclopentadiene. The sulfur modifier shall conform to thechemical and physical requirements pres

Physical Properties5.1 Particles of sulfur polymer cement and sulfur modifiershall be small enough (generally less than in. nominal size)to melt efficiently when exposed to he
10、ated aggregate whileminimizing the amount of dust particles (generally less than 74m) to reduce potential dust hazards.6. Methods of Sampling and Testing6.1 Sulfur polymer cement and sulfur modifier shall besampled and tested to determine the properties enumerated inthis specification in accordance
11、with the following methods:6.1.1 SamplingWhen the purchaser desires that the sulfurpolymer cement or sulfur modifier be sampled and tested toverify compliance with this specification, every precautionshall be taken to obtain representative random samples that willshow the true nature and condition o

Samplesshall be taken to represent as nearly as possible an average ofthe bulk material sampled or to ascertain the maximumvariation in characteristics which the material possesses.6.1.2 Sulfur and carbon contents shall be determined bycombustion of a small sample of sulfur polymer c

Typi-cal equipment is that used for analyzing coal samples.6.1.3 Hydrogen content shall be determined by combustionof a small sample of sulfur polymer cement or sulfur modifierin an oxygen environment converting the hydrogen to waterva

Measurements are made at 77F(25C).1This specification is under the jurisdiction of ASTM Committee C03 onChemical-Resistant Nonmetallic Materials

Inspection7.1 Inspection of the material shall be made as agreed uponby the purchaser and the seller as part of the purchase contract.8
18、. Rejection8.1 At the discretion of the purchaser, sulfur polymercement or sulfur modifier may be rejected if it fails to meet anyof the requirements of this specification.9. Packaging and Package Marking9.1 The sulfur polymer cement or sulfur modifier shall bepackaged in suitable containers, plainl

Similarinformation shall be provided with bulk shipments of thesematerials. All packages shall be in good condition at the timeof inspection.9.2 Packages may be marked at
20、the discretion of thesupplier and on his responsibility, indicating that the productsatisfies this specification.10. Storage10.1 Materials should be stored in a clean, dry, area in sucha manner as to permit easy access for proper inspection of eachshipment. Sulphur modifier should be stored at ambie
