Terminology3.1 DefinitionsThe definitions of the following terms u

8、sedin this specification are found in Terminology C717: compres-sion seal, glazing, standard conditions, tape sealant.4. Materials and Manufacturers4.1 The preformed tape sealant shall be composed ofappropriate raw materials to result in conformance to thisspecification.4.2 The preformed tape sealan

9、t shall be of uniform dimen-sions and consistency.4.3 When properly applied, this material shall form a seal toprevent air and water from entering the system.5. Requirements5.1 The shelf-life of this sealant shall be determined by itsmanufacturer. When establishing the shelf-life, the manufac-turer

10、should also identify acceptable conditions of storage forthe sealant.5.2 Physical PropertiesThe physical properties of thematerial shall conform to the requirements specified in Table 1.6. Significance and Use6.1 This specification describes only preformed tape seal-ants for glazing applications. Th

11、eir use is specific underglazing systems to serve as a water and air barrier. The testmethods chosen are to determine their efficiency in this use.This specification does not describe all required properties ofthe preformed tape sealants. It should be recognized by thepurchaser and design profession

12、al that not all preformed tapesealants meeting this specification are suitable for all applica-tions. In some instances, additional requirements will be agreedto by the supplier and user.7. Sampling7.1 The preformed tape sealant to be tested for conformancewith the requirements of this specification

20、the name,grade, and quantity of the material contained therein, as definedby the contract or order under which the shipments are made.The name of the manufacturer, the lot and batch number of thecontract or order, and the date of manufacture shall also beshown.10.
