Scope1.1 This specification covers the g

3、eneral requirements for faced thermal insulation boards composed of rigid cellularpolyisocyanurate surfaced with other materials. The insulation boards are intended for use at temperatures between 40 and 200F(40 and 93C). This specification does not cover cryogenic applications. Consult the manufact

4、urer for specific recommendationsand properties in cryogenic conditions. For specific applications, the actual temperature limits shall be agreed upon by themanufacturer and the purchaser.1.2 This standard is intended to apply to rigid cellular polyurethane-modified polyisocyanurate thermal insulati

5、on boardproducts that are commercially acceptable as non-structural panels useful in building construction. The term polyisocyanurateencompasses the term polyurethane. For engineering and design purposes, users should follow specific product informationprovided by board manufacturers regarding physi

6、cal properties, system design considerations and installation recommendations.NOTE 1See Appendix X1 for guidance on determining wind pressure resistance of panels when required for wall sheathing applications.1.3 The use of thermal insulation materials covered by this specification is typically regu

7、lated by building codes, or otheragencies that address fire performance. Materials and Manufacture6.1 Cellular MaterialRigid polyisocyanurate thermal insulation boards shall be based upon the reaction of an isocyanate witha polyol, or the reaction of an isocyanate with itself, or bo

35、th, using a catalyst and blowing agents to form a rigidclosed-cell-structured polyisocyanurate foam. The insulation foam core shall be homogeneous and of uniform density.6.2 Facing MaterialsThe facing material incorporated into the design of the faced thermal insulation board shall be asfollows:6.2.

36、1 Aluminum FoilAluminum foil is plain or coated aluminum foil, or foil laminated to a supporting membrane.6.2.2 Glass Fiber Reinforced Cellulosic FeltThis felt shall consist of a cellulosic fiber felt containing glass fibers.6.2.3 Coated Polymer-Bonded Glass Fiber MatThe polymer-bonded glass fiber m

37、at shall consist of fibrous glass mats bondedwith organic polymer binders and coated with organic polymer, clay, or other inorganic substances.6.2.4 Uncoated Polymer-Bonded Glass Fiber MatThe polymer-bonded glass fiber mat shall consist of fibrous glass matsbonded with organic polymer bonded binders

38、.6.2.5 Perlite Insulation BoardThe perlite insulation board shall conform to the material and physical property requirementsspecified in Standard Specification C728, either type 1 or type 2 may be used. The perlite insulation board may be either the 12-in.board listed in Specification C728, which ha

39、s a higher core density and modified formulation (as agreed upon between buyer andseller) than the thicker products, or may be a 12-in. thickness (available only to manufacturers of laminated rigid foam products)of the 34 to 3 in. formulation perlite board listed in Specification C728.6.2.6 Cellulos

40、ic Fiber Insulation BoardThe cellulosic fiber insulating board shall conform to the material and physicalproperties requirements specified in Specification C208.6.2.7 Oriented Strand Board and WaferboardThe oriented strand board and waferboard shall conform to the material andphysical properties req

41、uirements specified in U.S. Voluntary Product Standard PS 204.6.2.8 Glass Mat Faced Gypsum BoardThe glass mat faced gypsum board shall be 14 in. (6.4 mm) thickness and shall conformto the material and physical properties requirements in Specification C1177/C1177M.7. Physical Properties7.1 The therma

42、l insulation board shall conform to the properties stated in Table 1. The average value of the tested specimensshall be used to determine compliance with the requirements. For information about the number of specimens and the precisionof the results, consult the specified standard test method used.7

43、.1.1 The physical properties stated in Table 1 shall not be used as design or engineering values unless this recommendationis made in writing by the product manufacturer. It remains the buyers responsibility to specify design requirements and obtainsupporting physical properties documentation from e

44、ach product manufacturer and supplier.7.2 Thermal Resistance (R-value)When ordering, specify the R-value; thickness shall be specified if there is a specificthickness requirement and R-value is not specified. The values specified shall be for the faced insulation product only, and shallnot include a

45、ny additional thermal resistances from reflective facer surfaces and adjacent air spaces or from other components ofthe building system. The mean thermal resistance of the material tested shall not be less than the minimum relevant valueprescribed in Table 2. The thermal resistances of individual sp

46、ecimens tested shall not be less than 90 % of the minimum valueidentified in Table 2. Values in Table 2 determined in accordance with Section 11.NOTE 4Thermal resistance of cellular plastics may be significantly influenced by installation and service-related variables such as age, encapsulationwithi

47、n gas barrier materials, environmental conditions, mechanical abuse, etc. and may be reduced from measured values after exposure to conditionsC1289 133of use. For specific design recommendations, consult the manufacturer or qualified professionals, such as architects or engineers.7.2.1 Long-Term The

48、rmal Resistance (LTTR)Determine, and report values, in accordance with practice and details inCAN/ULC-S770-095 or Test Method C1303. For Test Method C1303, use the prescriptive test method and core slices only. If thecore slices are prepared from 1.75 in. (45 mm) to 2.25 in. (55 mm) material to pred

49、ict 0.9 in. (22 mm) to 4.1 in (103 mm) thickproducts, the homogeneity qualification test and the alternate product thickness qualification tests are not required. If the slices areprepared from other material thickness, follow the instructions for stack composition in Test Method C1303.
