17、r more properties of the conventional masonry mortar.4. Classification4.1 The classifications of mortars in this specification are as described in Specification C270. Mortar type selected shall be aType M, S, N, or O meeting the requirements of either the Property Specification or the Proportion Spe
18、cifications.5. Specifying Mortar5.1 Specify type of mortar desired.5.2 Preblended dry mortar mix shall be a mortar meeting both the requirements of Specification C270 and the requirements ofthis specification.5.2.1 The property specification requirements of Specification C270 shall govern unless the
19、 proportion specificationrequirements are specifically requested.6. Materials6.1 Materials shall conform to Specification C270 except as follows:6.1.1 AdditivesShall comply with the admixture requirements of Specification C1384, except as follows:6.1.1.1 The Specification C1384 reference mortar shal
20、l be this mortar without the additives and the Specification C1384admixed mortar shall be this mortar with the additives.6.1.1.2 When more than one additive meeting the requirements of Specification C1384 is used, the chloride limits ofSpecification C1384 shall apply to the sum of all of these addit
21、ives.6.1.1.3 Air entraining additives shall comply with the admixture requirements of Specification C260/C260M.6.1.2 Additives used as coloring pigments shall comply with the requirements of C979/C979M.6.2 As required by Specification C270, mortar mixes conforming to the Proportion Specification req
22、uirements shall not containmore than one air entraining material.7. Manufacture and Use7.1 All of the mortar mix materials shall be dry and measured by weight. The batch scales shall be calibrated at least annuallyand shall be capable of consistently measuring each ingredient to within 1 % of the to
23、tal batch weight for each ingredient that isadded at a rate of at least 20 % of total batch weight, and to within 5 % of the individual ingredients weight for each ingredientthat is added at a rate of less than 20 % of total batch weight.7.2 Each ingredient shall be added within a tolerance of 610 %
24、 of the individual ingredients target weight.7.3 The weight of each mortar mix ingredient of the final batch shall be recorded and archived for every batch.NOTE 1 This batch information is commonly referred to as a batch ticket.7.4 Arun number or batch number or some other marking used to ensure tra
25、ceability of the batch shall be assigned to each batchand retained as part of the batch archive.7.5 The batch information of 7.3 and 7.4 shall be archived for a minimum of twelve months from date of manufacture.7.6 All of the dry mortar mix ingredients shall be thoroughly blended.7.7 The preblended
26、dry mortar mix shall be stored and covered in such a manner as to prevent hardening, deterioration,contamination, and segregation.7.8 Except for water, no mortar materials, wet or dry, shall be added to the mortar mix or the resulting masonry mortar afterthe initial blending of the dry mortar materi
27、als in the batch plant unless otherwise specified and approved by the manufacturer ofthe preblended mortar mix.8. Sampling8.1 For mortars produced to property specifications, samples for determining compliance with this specification shall besampled prior to the addition of water.8.2 Samples shall b
28、e of sufficient size to conduct all of the desired testing.At a minimum, take three random samples of at least2.3 kg 5 lb each and combine them to form a single sample.8.2.1 For mortars sold in packages up to 45 kg 100 lb, select whole packages as necessary for required testing.8.2.1.1 Mix the entir
29、e contents of the package or packages before selecting random samples in accordance with 8.2.8.3 Field samples taken from the original containers shall be marked with the package markings as described in Section 14. Thedate of sampling shall also be included.8.3.1 Samples taken from job site silos s
30、hall be marked with silo number or location and the sample date. 31、tion markings from Section 14and may still be available on the job-site.8.3.2 Samples taken at the job site from a mobile batch plant shall be marked in accordance with Section 14.2.9. Testing9.1 Testing shall be conducted in accordance with Specification C270 with the following exceptions:9.1.1 For
32、 mortar mixes meeting the proportion specifications of C270, testing shall be performed by using verification ofingredient proportions (batch tickets) archived from 7.3. In addition, the aggregate shall be tested for compliance with therequirements of Specification C144.9.1.2 MixingMix 3000 6 3 g 6.

Additional water may be added inthe final mix period to adjust the flow. Determine the flow in accordance with Test Method

Use sufficient water to producea flow of 110 6 5 %.9.1.3 Air ContentIf the mixture proportions and densities of all constituent materials are known, calculate the air content inaccordance with Specification C270, otherwise use the density of the preblended dry mortar mix as supplied by the p

37、th the property requirements of Specification C270 and theadmixture requirements of Specification C1384. Compliance shall be verified at the intervals required by Specification C1384. TheSpecification C1384 reference mortar shall be this mortar without the additives and the Specification C1384 admix
38、ed mortar shallbe this mortar with the additives.9.2.2 Both the reference mortar and the admixed mortar shall be made from the same delivery of materials.NOTE 3The intent of this requirement is that the only difference between the two mortars is one has the additive and the other does not.9.3 If one
39、 or more of the mortar materials change in type or physical characteristic or the proportions of the original batchchange, the resulting preblended dry mortar mix shall be re-tested for compliance with both this specification and SpecificationC270.9.4 Uncontaminated preblended dry mortar mix sampled
40、 at the job site, before the addition of water:9.4.1 If designed to, shall meet the property requirements of Specification C270 and, if applicable, the requirements ofSpecification C1384, Table 1.9.4.1.1 If designed to be a water repellent mortar, the admixed mortar shall have a relative water absor
41、ption in percent of totalsaturation at 24 h value (%A24) of not greater than 60 % when tested in accordance with Test Method C1403, Annex A1. Preparemortar cube specimens in accordance with Section 6, Specimen Preparation, of Test Method C1403 except that the mortar shallbe mixed in accordance with
42、9.1.2. See Note 4.NOTE 4The purpose of this testing is to demonstrate that the preblended dry mortar mix delivered to the job site has sufficient water repellencyproperties. Test Method C1403,AnnexA1 measures the relative water absorption of a mortar and can be used when the reference mortar materia
43、l (withoutthe water repellent additive) is not available. Testing has shown that the value determined using Test Method C1403, Annex A1 typically averages about10 percentage points above the value determined during Specification C1384 compliance testing, which compares the water uptake of mortar con
44、tainingthe water repellent additive with a reference mortar material without the water repellent additive and requires the mortar containing the water repellentadditive to have a water uptake value expressed in g/100 cm of not greater than 50 % of the value for the reference mortar material without
45、the waterrepellent additive. See Test Method C1403, Annex A1 for further discussion.9.4.1.2 Mortar made with the uncontaminated preblended dry mortar mix sampled at the job site shall be prepared and testedin a laboratory to determine compliance with the requirements of 9.4.1. Field Testing10.1 When field testing is required, the preblended dry mortar mix shall be sampled in accordance w
48、ith Section 8 and testedin accordance with Section 9.10.2 The performance values of an as-delivered preblended dry mortar mix sampled at the job-site are directly comparable tothe performance values of a preblended dry mortar mix sampled at the point of manufacture, because they can both be tested i
49、nthe laboratory using the same test method.10.3 The performance values of preblended mortars tested after water is added in the field are not comparable to theperformance values obtained in the laboratory because the test methods are different. Refer to Test Method C780 and Guide C1586for guidance on proper ways of evaluating mortars after water has been added in the field.11. Reporting11.1 A report containing both the results from the testing in Section 9 and the corresponding batch information from Section7 shall be archived for at least 12 months.12. C
