Scope1.1 This specification covers reinforce

3、d elliptically shapedconcrete pipe to be used for the conveyance of sewage,industrial wastes, and storm water, and for the construction ofculverts.1.2 Pipe designed for placement with the major axis hori-zontal shall be designated as “Horizontal Elliptical Pipe.” Pipedesigned for placement with the

4、major axis vertical shall bedesignated as “Vertical Elliptical Pipe.”1.3 This specification is the inch-pound companion toSpecification C 507M; therefore, no SI equivalents are pre-sented in the specification.NOTE 1This specification is a manufacturing and purchase specifica-tion only, and does not

5、include requirements for bedding, backfill, or therelationship between field load condition and the strength classification ofpipe. However, experience has shown that the successful performance ofthis product depends upon the proper selection of the class of pipe, typeof bedding and backfill, and ca

6、re that the installation conforms to theconstruction specifications. The owner of the reinforced concrete pipespecified herein is cautioned that he must correlate the field requirementswith the class of pipe specified and provide inspection at the constructionsite.2. Basis of Acceptance5.1 Unless otherwise designated by the owner at the time o

16、f,or before, placing an order, there are two separate andalternative bases of acceptance. Independent of the method ofacceptance, the pipe shall be designed to meet both the 0.01-in.crack and ultimate strength requirements.5.1.1 Acceptance on Basis of Plant Load-Bearing Tests,Material Tests, and Ins

17、pection of Manufactured Pipe for VisualDefects and ImperfectionsAcceptability of the pipe in alldiameters and classes produced in accordance with 7.1 or 7.2shall be determined by the results of the three-edge-bearingtests as defined in 11.3.1; by such material tests as are requiredin 6.2, 6.3, 6.5,

18、and 6.6; by an absorption test of the concretefrom the wall of the pipe for each mix design that is used on anorder; and by visual inspection of the finished pipe to deter-mine its conformance with the accepted design and its freedomfrom defects.5.1.2 Acceptance on the Basis of Material Tests and In

19、spec-tion of Manufactured Pipe for Defects and ImperfectionsAcceptability of the pipe in all diameters and classes producedin accordance with 7.1 or 7.2 shall be determined by the resultsof such material tests as are required in 6.2, 6.3, 6.5, and 6.6;by crushing tests on concrete cores or cured con

20、crete cylinders;by an absorption test of the concrete from the wall of the pipefor each mix design that is used on an order; and by inspectionof the finished pipe, including amount and placement ofreinforcement, to determine its conformance with the accepteddesign and its freedom from defects.TABLE

30、or AcceptancePipe shall be considered ready foracceptance when they conform to the requirements as indicatedby the specified tests.6. Materials6.1 The aggregate shall be so sized, graded, proportioned,and mixed with such proportions of portland cement, blendedhydraulic cement, or portland cement and

31、 supplementarycementing materials, or admixtures, if used, or a combinationthereof, and water to produce a homogeneous concrete mixtureof such quality that the pipe will conform to the test and designrequirements of this specification. In no case, however, shallthe proportion of portland cement, ble

32、nded hydraulic cement,or a combination of portland cement and supplementarycementing materials be less than 470 lb/yd3.6.2 Cementitious Materials:6.2.1 CementCement shall conform to the requirementsof Specification C 150, or shall be portland blast-furnace slagcement, or slag modified portland cemen

33、t, or portland-pozzolan cement conforming to the requirements of Specifica-tion C 595, except that the pozzolan constituent in the Type IPportland pozzolan cement shall be fly ash.6.2.2 Ground Granulated Blast-Furnace Slag (GGBFS)GGBFS shall conform to the requirements of Grade 100 or 120of Specific

34、ation C 989.6.2.3 Fly AshFly ash shall conform to the requirements ofClass F or Class C of Specification C 618.6.2.4 Allowable Combinations of Cementitious MaterialsThe combination of cementitious materials used in the concreteshall be one of the following:6.2.4.1 Portland cement only,6.2.4.2 Portla

35、nd blast furnace slag cement only,6.2.4.3 Slag modified portland cement only,6.2.4.4 Portland pozzolan cement only,6.2.4.5 A combination of portland cement and groundgranulated blast-furnace slag,6.2.4.6 A combination of portland cement and fly ash, or6.2.4.7 A combination of portland cement, ground

36、 granu-lated blast-furnace slag (not to exceed 25 % of the totalcementitious weight) and fly ash (not to exceed 25 % of thetotal cementitious weight.6.3 AggregatesAggregates shall conform to SpecificationC33except that the requirement for gradation shall not apply.6.4 Admixtures and BlendsThe follow

OnlyType III synthetic fibers designed and manufactured specifi-cally for use in concrete and conforming to the requirements ofSpecification C 1116 shall be accepted.7. Design7.1 Size and ShapeThe standard sizes of elliptical pipeshall be as listed in Table

48、 1 and Table 2. The internal shape foreach size pipe shall be defined by the internal dimensionsshown in Fig. 5, subject to the permissible variations of 12.1.7.2 Design TablesThe wall thickness, compressivestrength of concrete, and the area of circumferential reinforce-ment shall be as prescribed i
