Scope1.1 This classification covers fired refractory brick andshapes consisting predominantly of zircon (ZrO2SiO2) andcontaining, by chemical analysis, not

3、less than 60 % zirconiumoxide (ZrO2) and not less than 30 % silica (SiO2).1.2 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regardedas standard. The values given in parentheses are mathematicalconversions to SI units that are provided for information onlyand are not considered standard.1.3 This in

Significance and Use3.1 The zircon content and bulk density of a zirconia-silicarefractory material have important influences on chemicalresistance and its satisfactory use in refractory applications

8、.This classification is considered useful for purchase specifica-tions and quality control.4. Basis of Classification4.1 Types:4.1.1 Type A (Regular)Zircon refractories having a bulkdensity of less than 240 lb/ft3(3.84 g/cm3).4.1.2 Type B (Dense)Zircon refractories having a bulkdensity of 240 lb/ft3

9、(3.84 g/cm3) or more.5. Test Methods5.1 The properties listed in this classification shall bedetermined by the following ASTM methods:5.1.1 Bulk DensityTest Methods C20 or C830.5.1.2 Chemical AnalysisXRF and ICP.6. Retests6.1 Because of variables resulting from sampling and thelack of satisfactory r

10、eproducibility in tests conducted bydifferent laboratories, the material may be resampled andretested when requested by either the manufacturer or thepurchaser. This may apply in instances when the first testresults do not conform to the requirements prescribed in thisclassification. The final resul

11、ts to be used shall be the averageof at least two sets of results, each of which has been obtainedby following in detail the specified testing procedures.7.
