Scope1.1 This specification covers structural insulating board for general thermal insulating, fire-resistive, and marine b

3、ulkheadapplications. The rigid, preformed structural insulating board is for use at temperatures up to 1700F (927C). For specificapplications, the actual temperature limit shall be agreed upon between the manufacturer and the purchaser.1.2 The structural insulating board maintains its structural int

4、egrity after immersion in water.1.3 Rapid cycling over a wide temperature range is not recommended because of potential damage due to thermal shock.1.4 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as standard. The values given in parentheses are mathematicalconversions to SI units that a

5、re provided for information only and are not considered standard.1.5 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibilityof the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety safety, health, and healthenvironmental pra

6、ctices and determine theapplicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.1.6 When the installation or use of thermal insulation materials, accessories and systems, may pose safety or health problems,the manufacturer shall provide the user appropriate current information regarding any known probl

The user shall establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatoryrequirements prior to use.1.7 This inte

Terminology3.1 DefinitionsThe definitions in Terminology C168 shall apply to the terms used in this specification.4. Classification4.1 The structural insulating boards shall

18、 be of the following types:4.1.1 Type IMaximum use temperature 1400F (760C).4.1.2 Type IIMaximum use temperature 1700F (927C).4.2 The structural insulating boards shall be of the following grades:4.2.1 Grade 1Typical density 36 lb/ft3 (577 kg/m3).4.2.2 Grade 2Typical density 46 lb/ft3 (737 kg/m3).4.

Ordering Information5.1 The type, grade, and dimensions shall be specified by the purchaser.5.2 When a certification or test report, or both, are required, it shall be specified by the purchaser.6. Materials and Manufacture6.1 Calcium silicate structural insulating board shall be composed of

21、hydrated calcium silicate with natural or man-made fibersor fillers, or a combination thereof. Asbestos shall not be used as an ingredient or component of the product.7. Other Requirements7.1 Calcium silicate structural insulating board shall conform to the physical and mechanical requirements speci

22、fied in Table1.8. Dimensions and Permissible Variations8.1 Calcium silicate structural insulating board is typically available in lengths 48 or 96 in. (1219 or 2438 mm), widths of 24or 48 in. (610 or 1219), and thicknesses from 12 to 3in. (13 to 76 mm).8.2 Dimensions shall be within the following to

Qualification Requirements10.1 Unless otherwise specified, the following requirements shall be employed for the purpose of initial material or productqualification.10.1.1 Compressive strength,1

30、0.1.2 Screw holding strength,10.1.3 Linear shrinkage and temperate of use,10.1.4 Apparent thermal conductivity, and10.1.5 Combustion characteristics.11. Sampling11.1 Calcium silicate structural insulating boards shall be sampled in accordance with Practice C390. Specific provisions forsampling shall

31、 be agreed upon between the purchaser and the supplier.12. Test Methods12.1 Dimensions and DensityUse Test Method C303, except that specimens shall be full-size sheets for determination oflength and width and at least 12-in. (300-mm) square for determination of thickness and density.12.2 Flexural St

32、rengthUse Test Methods C203 on a 1-in. (25-mm) thick specimen.12.3 Compressive StrengthUseTest Methods C165. Specimen thickness shall be 112 in. (38 mm). Compress specimen to 10 %deformation and calculate on maximum load value.12.4 Screw Holding StrengthUse Test Methods D1037, Direct Screw Withdrawa

33、l Test. Test at least three specimens, 312-in.(89-mm) square, and 1 in. (25 mm) or more in thickness after drying to constant weight from 215F (102C) to 250F (121C).Drill a hole at least 1 in. (25 mm) deep, normal to the surface at the center of each specimen, with a No. 29 drill. Install a No.8, Ty

34、pe A, self-tapping screw at least 78 in. (22.2 mm) in length such that 338 in. (18.8 mm) of the screw penetrates the board.12.5 Apparent Thermal ConductivityUse Test Methods C177 or C518. Test Method C518 shall not be used at temperaturesother than those in the range of calibration.12.5.1 Temperatur

35、e of test shall be in accordance with Practice C1058.12.5.2 Conduct the final analysis of the thermal data in accordance with Practice C1045 to generate a thermal conductivityversus temperature relationship for the specimen.12.6 Combustion CharacteristicsUse Test Method E136.12.7 Maximum Use Tempera

36、turesUse Practice C447, which references Test Method C411. Linear shrinkage (length or width,or both) should not exceed 2 % at maximum use temperature. See Test Method C356.12.8 Hot-Surface PerformanceTest Method C411 at the Maximum Use Temperate. Specimen shall be tested at 4 in. (102 mm)thickness,

37、 in either single or multiple layer configurations.13. Inspection13.1 Unless otherwise specified, the following requirements shall be employed for purposes of acceptance sampling of lots orshipments of qualified insulation:13.1.1 Density,13.1.2 Flexural strength,13.1.3 Dimensions, and13.1.4 Workmans

38、hip, finish, and appearance.13.2 Inspection of the material shall be agreed upon between the purchaser and the supplier.14. Rejection and Rehearing14.1 Failure to conform to the requirements in this specification shall constitute cause for rejection. Rejection shall be reportedto the producer or sup

39、plier promptly and in writing.14.2 In case of rejection, the manufacturer or supplier shall have the right to reinspect the rejected shipment and resubmit thelot after removal of that portion not conforming to the specified requirements.C656 17315. Certification15.1 When specified in the purchase or

40、der or contract, the manufacturers or sellers certification shall be furnished to thepurchaser stating that samples representing each lot have been manufactured, tested, and inspected in accordance with thisspecification and the requirements have been met. When specified in the purchase order or con

41、tract, a report of the test results shallbe furnished.16. Packaging and Package Marking16.1 PackagingUnless otherwise specified, the manufacturers standard packaging system shall be used.16.2 Marking:16.2.1 Unless otherwise specified, each package shall be marked with the manufacturers name, the pro

42、duct name, quantity,nominal dimensions, and manufacturers lot or date-code identification.16.2.2 When specified in the purchase order or contract, each container shall be marked with the appropriate ASTM C656 typeand grade, or other special designations.17.
