Cut the specimens in such amanner that the 300-mm (12-in.) dimension of each specimenis parallel to the long dimension for Types II and III. For TypeI, cut one half of the
28、 specimens as above and cut one half at aright angle thereto, provided that the shingle size permits. Donot test cracked or otherwise damaged specimens, but providesubstitute specimens.9.2.1.1 Warningsee 1.3.9.2.2 ProcedureDry each 150 3 300-mm (6 3 12-in.)specimen to constant mass in a ventilated o

The test span shallbe 254 6 2mm(106116 in.) and the load lines and supportsshall be parallel. Mount a dial micrometer
31、 reading to 0.02 mm(0.001 in.), or an equally sensitive apparatus to bear on thespecimen at midspan, to determine the deflection of thespecimen at the center of the test span. Increase the loadapplied at a uniform rate such as will result in failure of thespecimen in approximately 1 min. The error i

Take the flexural strength as theultimate load, in newtons (or pounds-force).9.3 Water Absorption Swelling:9.3.1 Sample PreparationFor swelling tests, prepare a setof specimens 305 by 305 mm (12
