Scope*1.1 This specification covers brick made principally fromsand and li

Terminology3.1 Terminology defined in Terminology C1232 shall applyfor this specification.4. Physical Requirements4.1 The brick shall conform to the physical requirements forthe grade spe
9、cified, as prescribed in Table 1.4.2 Unless otherwise specified by the purchaser, brick ofGrades SW and MW shall be accepted. Grade SW shall beaccepted in lieu of Grade MW.5. Dimensions and Permissible Variations5.1 The size of brick shall be as specified by the purchaserand the average size of bric
10、k furnished shall approximate thesize specified in the invitation for bids.5.2 No overall dimension (width, height, and length) shalldiffer by more than 618 in. (3.2 mm) from the specifiedstandard dimension. The width requirement does not apply totextured finishes such as split or rocked faces. Stan

Finish and Appearance6.1 All units shall be sound and free of cracks or otherdefects that interfere with the proper placement of the unit orsignificantly impair the strength or permanence of the construc-tion. Minor cracks incid
12、ental to the usual methods of manu-facture, or minor chipping resulting from customary methodsof handling in shipment and delivery are not grounds forrejection.6.2 Where units are to be used in exposed wall construction,the face or faces that are to be exposed shall not show chips orcracks not other
13、wise permitted or other imperfections, whenviewed from a distance of not less than 20 ft (6.1 m) underdiffused light.6.2.1 Five percent of a shipment containing chips, not largerthan12 in. (12.7 mm) in any dimension, or cracks not widerthan 0.02 in. (0.5 mm) and not longer than 25 % of the nominalhe

Compliance8.1 If a sample fails to conform to the specified require-ments, the manufacturer shall be permitted to remove unitsfrom the shipment. A new sample sha
19、ll be selected by thepurchaser from remaining units from the shipment with asimilar configuration and dimension and tested at the expenseof the manufacturer. If the second sample meets the specifiedrequirements, the remaining portion of the shipment repre-sented by the sample meets the specified req
20、uirements. If thesecond sample fails to meet the specified requirements, theremaining portion of the shipment represented by the samplefails to meet the specified requirements.9.
