Scope*1.1 This specification covers prefaced concrete maso

3、nryunits with the exposed-to-view-in-place surfaces covered at thepoint of manufacture with resin, resin and inert filler, or cementand inert filler to produce a smooth resinous tile facing. Thisspecification does not address, and therefore is not applicableto, ground-face concrete masonry units tha

4、t are manufacturedby grinding a thin layer off the surface of a concrete masonryunit to expose aggregates within and polishing to produce asmooth, architectural finish.1.2 The text of this specification references notes andfootnotes which provide explanatory material. These notes andfootnotes (exclu

5、ding those in tables and figures) shall not beconsidered as requirements of the standard.1.3 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regardedas standard. Facing Requirements5.1 Resistance to Crazing, Cracking, or SpallingThereshall be no crazing, cracking, or spalling of the facing materialwhen the unit is tested in accordance with 7.2.5.2 Resistance to ChemicalsThe condition of

12、the surfaceshall show no change after testing with each of the chemicalslisted in 7.3.5.3 AdhesionWhen viewed without magnification, thereshall be no failure of the adhesion of the facing material to theconcrete masonry unit at the time of failure of the entireprefaced unit when tested in compressio

16、n tested in ac-cordance with 7.6, the surfaces of the prefaced units shall havea flame spread classification not greater than 25 withoutevidence of continued progressive combustion and shall have asmoke density rating not greater than 50.5.6 Color, Tint, or TextureColor, tint, or texture shall be as

17、specified. When tested in accordance with 7.7 and thencompared with an unexposed unit, there shall be no change intexture, and color differences shall not exceed 5.0 Delta units.5.7 Soiling and CleansabilityThere shall not be a stainvisible when specimens are tested in accordance with 7.8.1 andthen

18、viewed from a distance of 10 ft (3m) under an illuminationof not less than 50 footcandles (538.2 lm/m2) by an observerwith normal vision. Spotting media shall be observed to becompletely removed from specimens when tested in accor-dance with 7.8.2 and 7.8.3 and then viewed from a distance of10 ft (3

19、 m) under an illumination of not less than 50footcandles (538.2 lm/m2) by an observer with normal vision.5.8 ReportTest reports shall show the results of testsrequired by 5.1 through 5.7.6. Dimensional Tolerances6.1 Face DimensionThe total variation from specifieddimensions in the finished face dime

20、nsions of the units shallnot exceed 6116 in. (1.6 mm) from specified dimensions.6.2 DistortionThe distortion of the plane and edges of theface of individual units from the corresponding plane surfaceand edges of the concrete masonry unit shall not exceed116 in.(1.6 mm).7. Sampling and Testing7.1 The

21、 purchaser or authorized representative shall beaccorded proper facilities to inspect and sample the prefacedconcrete masonry units at the place of manufacture from thelots ready for delivery.7.2 CrazingResistance to crazing of prefaced concretemasonry units shall be determined by oven drying from a

22、saturated condition in accordance with 13.2 of Test MethodsC 140, allowing the specimen to cool to room temperature, andresaturating.7.3 Resistance to ChemicalsApply a convenient quantityof the chemicals, as shown in Table 1, one at a time on thefacing material and leave covered with a watchglass fo

23、r theduration of the test period. For volatile chemicals, place asaturated wad under the watchglass and keep saturated. Uponcompletion of the test period, wipe the test area clean with aclean cloth. The condition of the test area shall show no changeafter testing with each chemical for the specified

24、 time pre-scribed in Table 1.7.4 Adhesion of FacingTest three prefaced concrete ma-sonry units for compressive strength in accordance with TestMethods C 140.Apply the compressive load until failure of theentire unit occurs. When viewed without magnification, thereshall be no visible failure of the a

25、dhesion of the facing materialto the concrete masonry unit at the time of failure of the entireprefaced concrete masonry unit.7.5 AbrasionDetermine the wear index in accordancewith Test Method C 501 using Taber Abraser Research Model503 with a Taber CS-17 abrasive wheel and a 1000-g weightfor 500 we

26、ar cycles.7.6 Surface BurningDetermine flame spread and smokeratings in accordance with Test Method E84.7.7 Color ChangeDetermine color difference using CIEL*, a*, b*, or CIELAB (1976) with two-degree observer,illuminant C, and specular excluded in accordance with TestMethod D 2244. Take measurement

27、s before and after 500 h ofaccelerated weathering using the single-arc apparatus in accor-dance with Practice D 822. Use test panels not less than 3 in.(76.2 mm) wide by 6 in. (152.4 mm) long. Test panels need notbe conditioned.7.8 Soiling and Cleansability:7.8.1 Staining MediaPour a stain consistin

28、g of 0.5 g ofoil-soluble dye (C.I. Solvent Orange 7, C.I. 12140), 1.0 g oflanolin, and 5.0 g of SAE 10 oil one at a time on an areaapproximately12 in. (12.7 mm) in diameter on the preface sideof units. Allow the stain to remain on the specimens for aperiod of 4 days. Clean the specimen for 80 cycles

29、 inaccordance with Test Method D 2486 using an industrial-gradecleaning agent. Examine the cleaned surface for the followingdegrees of intensity (see 5.7):7.8.1.1 Stain completely removed.7.8.1.2 Trace.7.8.1.3 Evident.7.8.1.4 Pronounced.7.8.1.5 Very pronounced.7.8.2 Spotting MediaApply each of the f

30、ollowing stainson each specimen:7.8.2.1 Writing Pencil, No. 2Apply the pencil soil bywedging it in a glass tube that fits snugly but floats freely in awooden block. Apply the soil by placing a 500-g weight on topof the pencil in such a manner that the soil is uniform in widthand thickness.7.8.2.2 Ma

31、gic MarkerApply the Magic-Marker soil bywedging it in a glass tube that fits snugly but floats freely in awooden block. Apply the soil by placing a 500-g weight on topof the Magic Marker in such a manner that the soil is uniformin width and thickness.7.8.2.3 LanolinSmear the lanolin on the surface u

Inspection8.1 All prefaced concrete masonry units shal

35、l be sound andfree of cracks or other defects that interfere with the properplacing of the units or impair the strength or permanence of theconstruction.8.2 SurfaceThe coated surface shall be free of chips,crazes, cracks, blisters, crawling, holes, and other imperfec-tions detracting from the appear

36、ance of the units when viewedfrom a distance of 5 ft (1.5 m) perpendicular to the coatedsurface and using daylight without direct sunlight.9. Compliance9.1 If a sample fails to conform to the specified require-ments, the manufacturer shall be permitted to remove unitsfrom the shipment. A new sample

37、shall be selected by thepurchaser from remaining units from the shipment with asimilar configuration and dimension and tested at the expenseof the manufacturer. If the second sample meets the specifiedrequirements, the remaining portion of the shipment repre-sented by the sample meets the specified

38、requirements. If thesecond sample fails to meet the specified requirements, theremaining portion of the shipment represented by the samplefails to meet the specified requirements.NOTE 2Unless otherwise specified in the purchase order, the cost oftests is typically borne as follows: (1) if the result

39、s of the tests show thatthe units do not conform to the requirements of this specification, the costis typically borne by the seller; (2) if the results of the tests show that theunits conform to the specification requirements, the cost is typically borneby the purchaser.10.
