3、ng the properties of refractories, such as density, crush-ing stress, modulus of rupture, tensile stress, thermalconductivity, and permeability.1.2 For convenience, a table of conversion factors betweeninch-pound units and SI units is included.2. Significance and Use3.1 This practice is provided to facilitate comparison ofphysical a

5、nd mechanical properties of refractory materials byestablishing uniform presentation of data.3.2 Units have been chosen, where possible, to result innumbers of magnitude familiar in the refractories industry, thatis, g/cm3rather than the SI preferred unit kg/m3.Itisrecommended that SI prefixes be se

6、lected for use with the unitssuch that the resulting numerical values lie between 0.1 and1000. For most properties, the prefixes kilo (k) and mega (M)are preferred. 7、102103centiAmillicm106109micronanonATo be avoided where practical.3.3 The conversion factors, which have been selected fortheir general utility in the refractories industry, have been takenfrom Standard E380, where possible. For uniformity, they havebeen presented to four decimal places. In use, the

8、 convertedvalues should be rounded to the same number of significantfigures as in the original value.4. Standard Units4.1 Densitygrams per cubic centimetre (g/cm3).4.2 Energy or work joules (J) or megajoules (MJ).4.3 Massgrams (g), kilograms (kg), or megagrams (Mg).4.4 Permeability is currently expr

9、essed in darcys. One darcyis a flow of 1.00 cm3/s of a fluid of 1 centipoise (cP) viscositythrough a 1-cm cube of the material being measured under apressure differential of 1 atmosphere. Thus, a darcy is not an SIunit. No permeability units are given in E380. Until an SI unitof permeability is adop

10、ted, express permeability in darcys.4.5 Powerwatts (W) or kilowatts (kW).4.6 Pressure or stressmegapascals (MPa) (preferred). Forstress less than 1 MPa, kilopascals (kPa) may be used.NOTE 1Included are bending, crushing, shear, and tensile stress,modulus of rupture, and elastic modulus.4.7 Thermal c
