1、Designation: D 1455 87 (Reapproved 2008)Standard Test Method for60 Specular Gloss of Emulsion Floor Polish1This standard is issued under the fixed designation D 1455; the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or, in the case of revision, the year of last

2、 revision. A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval. Asuperscript epsilon (e) indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1. Scope1.1 This test method covers the determination of the 60specular gloss of films of emulsion floor polish after applica-tion to

3、 a substrate.NOTE 1Specular gloss is one of several related appearance attributesthat produce the sensation of glossiness. For this reason, specular glossmeasurements may not always correlate well with visual rankings ofglossiness.1.2 This standard does not purport to address all of thesafety concer

It is theresponsibility of the user of this standard to establish appro-priate safety and health practices and determine the applica-bility of regulatory limitations prior to use.2. Terminology3.1 Definitions of Terms Specific to This Standard:3.1.1 specular glossthe ratio of reflected to incident light, times 1000, for specified apertures of illumination and recep-tion when the axis of

6、 reception coincides with the mirror imageof the axis of illumination.4. Significance and Use4.1 This test method may be used to evaluate the differencein gloss of dried films of emulsion floor polishes when the lightreflected at a 60 angle is measured. Extremely high- orlow-gloss polishes may not b

Apparatus5.1 GlossmeterThe instrument and the reference stan-dards shall conform to the requirements prescribed in TestMethod D 523, using an angle of reflection of 60.5.2 Fl

8、oor Polish ApplicatorThe equipment for applica-tion of the floor polish shall conform to the requirementsprescribed in Test Methods D 1436.6. Substrates6.1 Two standard substrates are commonly used; however, commercial types may be used to test specific applications.Better agreement of results can be

9、 expected when black glassis used as the substrate, except for those cases where thesample being tested produces a hazy film. Where a hazy film isproduced, black glass should not be employed as the substrate. The standard types are as follows:6.1.1 Black Glass,3,4having a highly polished plane surfac

Procedure7.1 Apply the floor polish to the substrate in accordancewith the procedures described in Test Methods D 1436.Method A, using the automatic dip coater, can be expected togive better agreement of resu
