Significance and Use3.1 This test method is designed to measure the width ofspecimens before and after they are subjected to various testswhich may change the width.
6、 A test procedure wherein suchmeasurements could be used is the change in area of squarepieces when measuring the resistance of leather to syntheticperspiration solution.4. 7、he specimen shall be the prepared test specimen, unit,or piece. It shall be conditioned for 48 h in an atmospheremaintained at 73.4 6 1.8F (23 6 1C) and 50 6 4 % relativehumidity and tested under these conditions. See PracticeD1610.6. Procedure6.1 Test SpecimensPlace the specimen on a flat surfacean
8、d flatten it out without pulling or stretching. Measure thewidth to the nearest 0.02 in. (0.5 mm) at the locationsdesignated in the test method for making the particular test forwhich the specimen was prepared.7. Calculation and Report7.1 Report the width of the test specimens used as pre-scribed in
9、 the test method for making the particular physicaltest for which the specimen was prepared.7.2 Report the average of the width measurements taken onany unit or piece to the same accuracy as observed on theoriginal measurements, as the width of the piece.8. Precision and Bias38.1 The following crite
10、ria may be used to judge the accept-ability of results if at least 15 units have been tested.8.2 A coefficient of variation of 1.8 % can be expectedbetween laboratories on specimens of headband leather sub-jected to a perspiration test.NOTE 1The data used as a basis for this reproducibility statemen
11、t wasobtained on a round robin with 3 laboratories measuring width on thesame specimens. The specimens were 51 mm by 51 mm before theperspiration testing.8.3 BiasNo justifiable statement on bias can be madesince the true value of width of leather test specimens cannotbe established by an accepted re
