Significance and Use4.1 The purpose of this practice is to bring about uniformityof commercial moisture standards in all ASTM specificationsrelating to wool and its products.4.2 This practice provides a recom
9、mended single value fora standardized commercial moisture content for wool and itsproducts. This avoids difficulties encountered in calculating theamount of moisture-free fiber present in a given mass of woolin any one of the forms listed in 1.1.1 to 1.1.8 due to tradepractices which recognize vario
10、us commercial moisture allow-ance values used by certain segments of the trade. (See TestMethod D584, Section 3.5, Table D1909,D1909 Note E, andthe Tables in Practice D2720).4.3 The recommended commercial moisture content shouldbe used where it is desirable to avoid problems in determiningmoisture-f
11、ree fiber content when the form of the wool ischanged. For example: from scoured wool (12.0 % moisturecontent) to worsted yarn, dry spun (13.04 % moisture content).5. Recommended Commercial Moisture Content5.1 Use 12.0 % as the commercial moisture content forwool and its products.NOTE 1For other com
