Scope1.1 This classification is intended to establish classificationand test methods for certain types of oil us

Basis of Classification5.1 Classification of petroleum oils as used for extendingand processing styrene-butadiene rubbers (SBR) and butadienerubbers (BR) is given in Table 1. Classification is based onresults obtained in accordance with Test Method D 2007 andMethod D 2501.6

Test Methods6.1 The types of petroleum oils listed in Table 1 may befurther characterized by testing in accordance with Test Meth-ods D 88, D 92, D 97, D 445, D 611, D 972, D 974, D 1298,D 1500, D 2008, and D 2887.7. Type 104B oils are those that have a viscosity-gravity constant of0.820 maximum (Method D 2501). Type 104A oils are those that have a viscosity-gravity constant greater than 0.820 (Method D 2501). It is recognized that certainType 104 oils may not be satisfactorily classified for polymers other than SBR bythis subclassification.D 2226 93 (2002)2
