Scope1.1 This specification covers coal-tar-saturated organic feltintended to be used with coal-tar pitches conforming to theappropriate requirements of Specification D450 in the con-

Terminology3.1 DefinitionsFor definitions of terms used in this speci-fication, refer to Terminology D1079.4. Materials and Manufacture4.1 In the process of manufacture, a single thickness of dryfelt shall be
7、 saturated with refined coal-tar from which some ofthe more volatile constituents have been removed.4.2 The felt shall be produced principally from organicfibers or mixtures thereof. The surface of the felt shall beuniform and relatively smooth. Upon splitting or tearing on thebias, the felt shall a
8、ppear reasonably free of lumps and particlesof foreign substances.5. Physical Requirements5.1 The material shall conform to the physical requirementsprescribed in Table 1.5.2 The finished product shall not crack nor be so sticky asto cause tearing or other damage upon being unrolled attemperatures b
9、etween 10 and 60C 50 and 140F.6. Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance6.1 The felt shall be saturated and shall show no unsaturatedspots at any point upon cutting 50-mm 2-in. wide strips atrandom across the entire sheet and splitting them open to theirfull length.6.2 The surface of the felt shall not
10、be coated or coveredwith talc or other substances that would tend to interfere withadhesion between the felt and the plying cement.6.3 The finished material shall be free of visible externaldefects such as holes, ragged or untrue edges, breaks, cracks,tears, protuberances, and indentations.7. 11、ng and Test Methods7.1 Sample the material and determine the properties enu-merated in this specification in accordance with Test MethodsD146.8. Inspection8.1 InspectionInspection shall be in accordance with therequirements of this specification.8.2 Inspection AlternativesAlternative inspection requ

Rejection and Resubmittal9.1 Failure to ConformFailure to conform to any of therequirements as stated in
15、this specification constitutes groundsfor rejection.9.2 Rejection RedressThe supplier shall have the right toinspect the rejected materials. The supplier and the purchasershall agree to the quantity of rolls deemed unacceptable. Thesupplier shall then have the right to submit the same number ofnew r
16、olls as replacement.10. Packaging and Package Marking10.1 Unless otherwise agreed upon between the supplierand purchaser, each package shall be plainly marked with thesuppliers name, the product brand, theASTM designation, andtype of bitumen if not evident in the label name of the product.10.2 The r
17、olls shall be securely wrapped or banded in amanner that completely encircles the roll and will preventslipping or unrolling.10.3 No roll shall contain more than two pieces, and nomore than 3 % of the rolls in any lot shall contain two pieces.If a roll contains a manufacturing splice, the splice sha
