Scope1.1 This specification covers three types of asphalt suitablefor use as a mopping coat in dampproofing; or as a plying ormopping cement in the construction of membrane waterproof-ing systems with felts in accordance with Specification D226;fabrics in accordanc

4、e with Specifications D173 or D1668(asphalt types); asphalt-impregnated glass mat in accordancewith Specifications D2178; and with primer in accordance withSpecification D41.1.2 The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound unitsare to be regarded separately as standard. The values stated ineac

5、h system may not be exact equivalents; therefore, eachsystem should be used independently of the other. Combiningvalues from the two systems may result in non-conformancewith the standard.1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of thesafety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is

Classification3.1 Asphalts covered by this specification include threetypes:3.1.1 Type IA soft, adhesive,

10、“self-healing” asphalt thatflows easily under the mop and is suitable for use below gradeunder uniformly moderate temperature conditions both duringthe process of installation and during service.NOTE 1Type I asphalt is suitable for foundations, tunnels, subways,and so forth.3.1.2 Type IIA somewhat l

11、ess susceptible asphalt thanType I, with good adhesive and “self-healing” properties,suitable for use above grade where it will not be exposed totemperatures exceeding 50C 122F.NOTE 2Type II asphalt is suitable for railroad bridges, culverts,retaining walls, tanks, dams, conduits, spray decks, and s

12、o forth.3.1.3 Type IIIAn asphalt less susceptible to temperaturethan Type II, with good adhesive properties, and suitable foruse above grade on vertical surfaces exposed to direct sunlightor temperatures above 50C 122F.4. Materials and Manufacture4.1 The asphalt shall be prepared from crude petroleu

16、 asphalt shall be homogeneous and free of water.5.2 Each type shall conform to the appropriate requirementsprescribed in Table 1.6. Inspection and Certification7.1 Inspection and certification of the material shall be

18、 asagreed upon between the purchaser and the seller. Specificrequirements shall be made part of the purchase contract.8. Rejection and Rehearing8.1 If the results of any test do not conform to the require-ments of this specification, retesting to determine conformitymay be performed as agreed upon b

19、etween the purchaser andthe seller.9. Packaging and Marking9.1 The material shall be suitably packaged to permitacceptance by the carrier and to afford adequate protectionfrom the normal hazards of handling and shipment.9.2 Each container shall be plainly marked with the nameand brand of the manufac
