Scope1.1 This test method covers the sieve analysis of mineralfillers used in bituminous paving mixtures.1.2 The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound unitsare to be regarded separately as standard. The values stated ineach system may not be exact equivale

Combiningvalues from the two systems may result in non-conformancewith the standard.NOTE 1Regarding sieves, per ASTM Specification E11, “the valuesstated in SI units shall be considered standard for the dimensions of thewire cloth
5、openings and the diameter of the wires used in the wire cloth.”When sieve mesh sizes are referenced, the alternate inch-pound designa-tions are provided for information purposes and enclosed in parentheses.1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of thesafety concerns, if any, associated wi

The velocity of the water, which maybe increased by pinching the tubing, must be controlled to prevent loss ofany of the sample by splashing over the sides of

When desired, additional information may be obtained by dry sieving the portion of thesample retained on the 75-m (No. 200) sieve, in accordance with T

Precision and Bias38.1 PrecisionThe estimates of precision for this testmethod are shown in Table 1. They are based on results of aninterlaboratory testin

The materials tested ranged from acoarse mineral filler, that had about 93 % passing the 600m(No. 30) sieve and 51 % passing the 75-m (No. 200), to finermineral fillers that had
21、about 99 % passing the 300-m (No.50) sieve and 95 % passing the 75-m (No. 200) sieve.8.2 BiasBias has not been determined since there is noacceptable reference for determining the bias for the procedurein this test method.9.
