Scope1.1 This specifica

3、tion covers nonrigid tubing of vinyl chlo-ride polymer or its copolymers with other materials for use inelectrical insulation in three grades, as follows:1.1.1 Grade AGeneral-purpose.1.1.2 Grade BLow-temperature.1.1.3 Grade CHigh-temperature.NOTE 1This standard is similar but not identical to IEC-60

Ordering Information4.1 Orders for material covered by this specification shallinclude the following:4.1.1 Grade of tubing,4.1.2 Size and color,4.1.3 Total length in feet or metres,4.1.4 Length of cut pieces in inches or centimetres, if any,and4.1.5 Amount

7、of tubing on each spool or in each coil, if notstandard packaging with the supplier.5. Color5.1 Clear transparent, black, white, yellow, green, blue, andred shall be considered standard colors. Other colors shall beconsidered special. The color desired shall be specified in thepurchase order.6. Dime

8、nsional Requirements6.1 Inside DiameterThe inside diameter of the tubingshall conform to the requirements prescribed in Table 1 orTable 2.6.2 Wall ThicknessThe wall thickness of the tubing shallconform to the requirements prescribed in Table 1 or Table 2.6.3 Commercial LengthsThe tubing shall be sup

9、plied incontinuous lengths.7. Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance7.1 The surface shall be smooth, free of blisters, cracks, orany other defects that may detrimentally affect its suitability forthe service intended. It shall not be subject to peeling, scaling,or flaking.8. Physical and Electrical Req

10、uirements8.1 Tubing shall conform to the following requirements forphysical and electrical properties:8.1.1 FlammabilityThe average duration of burning shallnot exceed 15 s and the paper indicator shall show no evidenceof being affected.8.1.2 Tensile StrengthThe average tensile strength shallbe not

11、less than 2000 psi 15 MPa for GradesAand C, and notless than 1800 psi 13 MPa for Grade B. The average ultimateelongation shall be not less than 200 % for GradesAand C andnot less than 250 % for Grade B.8.1.3 Effect of Elevated Temperatures When Method A isused, the average loss of ultimate elongatio

12、n after exposure toelevated temperatures shall be not greater than 35 % for Grades1This specification is under the jurisdiction of ASTM Committee D09 onElectrical and Electronic Insulating Materials and is the direct responsibility ofSubcommittee D 09.07 on Flexible and Rigid Insulating Materials.Cu

When Method B is used, the loss of weight afterexposure to elevated temperatures shall be not greater than15 % of the original weight for GradesAand B, and not greaterthan 10 % for Grade C.8.1.4 After immersion in oil, the average ultimate elonga-tion shall be within the following limi

16、ts based on the averagetest value for the un-immersed tubing:GradesAandB +5%to20%Grade C 6 20 %8.1.5 Brittleness TemperatureThe brittleness temperatureshall be not above 30 C 22 F for Grade A, 55 C 67F for Grade B, and 10 C +14 F for Grade C.8.1.6 Resistance to Penetration at Elevated TemperatureThe

17、 average temperature of failure shall be not less than thosein Table 3.8.1.7 Volume ResistivityThe volume resistivity shall benot less than 1012Vcm for Grades A and C and not less than1011Vcm for Grade B.8.1.8 Dielectric BreakdownThe average dielectric break-down shall be not less than that prescrib

18、ed for the correspond-ing wall thickness in Table 4.8.1.9 Dielectric Breakdown at High HumidityThe aver-age dielectric breakdown strength at 96 % relative humidityshall be not less than 90 % for GradeA, 75 % for Grade B, and85 % for Grade C of the dry value obtained on test.8.1.10 Strain ReliefThe c

19、hange in length (shrinkage) shallnot exceed 18 % for sizes AWG No. 24 to No. 20, inclusive;14 % for sizes AWG No. 18 to 10, inclusive; and 9 % for sizesAWG No. 9 to 2 in. 50 mm, inclusive.8.1.11 Corrosive EffectThe resistance of the copper wireshall increase by not more than 2 %.9. Sampling9.1 For d

20、imensional and visual tests, lots shall be sampled inaccordance with Inspection Level II of Practice D 3636.9.2 To determine conformity with the requirements forphysical and electrical properties, lots shall be sampled inaccordance with Inspection Level II. A quantity large enoughto complete all of

21、the required tests shall be selected at randomfrom one fifth of the units sampled.10. Test Methods10.1 Determine the properties enumerated in this specifica-tion in accordance with Test Methods D 876.11. Inspection11.1 The tubing shall be inspected and tested within 3 weeksof the date of receipt by

22、the purchaser, unless otherwise agreedupon by the purchaser and the seller.12. Rejection12.1 If the number of defects found in the dimensional andvisual examination exceed the rejection number for AQL(acceptable quality level) = 2.5, or such levels as otherwiseagreed upon the lot shall be subject to

23、 rejection at the option ofthe purchaser.12.2 If the results of any test do not conform to therequirements prescribed in this specification, that test shall berepeated on two additional specimens from the same lot. Ifthese two additional specimens fail to meet the prescribedrequirements, the lot of

24、tubing represented by that specimenmay be rejected at the option of the purchaser.13. Packaging and Package Marking13.1 PackagingAll tubing shall be properly separated bysize when packaged for shipment. In accordance with the bestpractice, all tubing shall be packaged to withstand shipmentand shall

25、be given ample protection against damage.13.2 MarkingEach item of the order shall be marked withthe name of the manufacturer, the total length in feet, size, andcolor.14.
