Classification4.1 This specification covers one class of fittings suitable foruse with PE plastic pipe that meet the requi
11、rements ofapplicable ASTM specifications. At present, these are Specifi-cations D 2104 and D 2239.5. Materials5.1 Types of PlasticsThe fittings shall be made from oneof the following plastics:5.1.1 Nylon plastics (NP) meeting the requirements ofeither Type I or Type II (except Grade 2A) in Test Meth
12、odsD 789.5.1.2 Propylene plastic (PP) with a minimum tensilestrength at yield of 24.0 MPa (3410 psi) when tested inaccordance with Test Method D 638 at a speed of 51 mm/min(2.0 in./min), an Izod impact resistance at 23C of at least 30J/m (0.6 ftlbf/in.) when tested in accordance with Method Aof Test

16、n clean rework fitting material and the fittings pro-duced shall meet all the requirements of this specification. Thetypes of materials specified in 5.1 shall not be mixed with oneanother.6. Requirements6.1 Dimensions and TolerancesThe dimensions and tol-erances shall be as shown in Tables 1-3 when
17、measured inaccordance with 8.4. The negative tolerance on all minimumdimensions is zero.6.1.1 AlignmentThe alignment of all openings of fittingsshall be within14in./ft.6.1.2 Fittings Not IllustratedAll fittings, whether illus-trated in Tables 1-3 or not, shall have insert ends in accordancewith Tabl
18、e 1 or threaded ends in accordance with Table 3. Forinsert ends, which have more than four barbs, the first fourbarbs, starting from the open end of the fitting connection, shallmeet all requirements of Table 1. The remaining barbs shallalso meet Table 1, with the exception that mold marks left asa
19、result of the manufacturing process, such as ejector pinmarks, are exempt from the “V” dimension requirement, andthe minimum requirement for “Z.” D, Zmax, and F apply in allcases. For designs where the entire fitting end is barbed, suchas “F” cannot be readily measured, “F” shall be calculated as(Z2
20、V)D/2.6.1.3 ThreadsFor all fittings having taper pipe threads,threads shall conform to Specification F 1498 and be gaged inaccordance with 8.6.6.2 Burst PressureThe minimum burst pressure for thefittings shall be as shown in Table 4, when determined inaccordance with 8.5.7. Workmanship, Finish, and
21、Appearance7.1 The fittings shall be homogeneous throughout and freeof cracks, holes, foreign inclusions, or other defects. 28、 be 61.8F (61C)and 62 % relative humidity.8.2 Test ConditionsConduct the tests in the standardlaboratory atmosphere of 73.4 6 3.6F (23 6 2C) and 506 5 % relative humidity, unless otherwise specified in the testmethods or in this specification. In cases of disagreement, thetolerances shall be 61.8F (
29、1C) and 62 % relative humidity.8.3 SamplingA sample of the fittings sufficient to deter-mine conformance with this specification shall be taken atrandom.8.4 DimensionsFittings used to determine dimensionsshall be randomly selected. Measurements shall be made withmicrometers, calipers, gages, or othe
30、r devices accurate towithin 60.001 in. (60.025 mm). Determine the diameters bymaking measurements at four points spaced at approximately45 apart around the circumference.8.5 Burst PressureDetermine the minimum burst pressurewith at least three specimens in accordance with Test MethodD 1599. Join the
31、 fittings as insert fittings to the pipe sufficientlystrong and in such a manner that no failure shall occur in thefitting at least than the pressures given in Table 4. The time oftesting each assembly shall be between 60 and 70 s.8.6 ThreadsAll taper pipe threads shall be gaged inaccordance with Sp
32、ecification F 1498.9. Retest and Rejection9.1 If the results of any test(s) do not meet the requirementsof this specification, the tests(s) shall be conducted again onlyby agreement between the purchaser and seller. Under suchagreement, minimum requirements shall not be lowered,changed, or modified,
33、 nor shall specification limits be changed.If upon retest, failure occurs, the quantity of product repre-sented by the test(s) does not meet the requirements of thisspecification.10. Marking10.1 Fittings shall be marked with the following:10.1.1 Manufacturers name or trademark,10.1.2 Material design
34、ation: NP, PP, or PVC,10.1.3 Fittings intended for the transport of potable watershall include the seal or mark of the laboratory making theevaluation for this purpose, and10.1.4 Size.10.2 Markings or symbols shall be molded, hot-stamped, orapplied by printing methods.10.3 Where recessed marking is
35、used, care shall be taken tosee that in no case shall the marking cause cracks or reduce thewall thicknesses below the minimum specified.11. Quality Assurance11.1 When the product is marked with this designation, D2609, the manufacturer affirms that the product was manufac-tured, inspected, sampled,
