3、 Defense.1. Scope1.1 This specification covers thermoplastic composite pipe,fittings and a joining system for use in gravity flow, nonpres-sure sanitary sewer, and storm drain installations. The pipe andfittings are made of ABS or PVC plastic material. Recom-mended installation practices are referen

16、PVC.3.2 Definitions of Terms Specific to This Standard:3.2.1 acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS)plastics con-taining polymers or blends of polymers, or both, in which theminimum butadiene content is 6 %; the minimum acrylonitrilecontent is 15 %; the minimum styrene or substituted styrenecontent, o
17、r both, is 15 %; and the maximum content of all othermonomers is not more than 5 %, plus lubricants, stabilizers,and colorants.3.2.2 poly (vinyl chloride) (PVC)plastic compounds con-taining poly(vinyl chloride) homopolymer, and such additivesas stabilizers, lubricants, processing aids, impact improv
18、ers,and colorants as needed to provide the required processing andtoughness characteristics.4. Classification4.1 Pipe produced in accordance with this specification shallbe classified as ABS composite pipe or PVC composite pipebased on plastic materials used in manufacture.5. Materials and Manufactu
19、re5.1 ABS composite pipe or PVC composite pipe shallconsist of two concentric thermoplastic tubes integrally bracedacross the annulus. The resultant annular space is filled toprovide continuous support between the inner and outer tubes.5.2 CompoundsThe ABS and PVC composite pipe andfittings shall be
20、 produced from the following compounds:5.2.1 ABSThe pipe shall be made from a rigid ABS plasticand shall meet or exceed the requirements of SpecificationD 3965 for a minimum cell classification of 1-0-2-2-3. Thefittings shall be made from ABS plastic and shall meet orexceed the requirements of Speci
21、fication D 3965 for cellclassifications of 1-0-2-2-3 or 4-2-2-2-2. Clean rework ABS,generated from the manufacturers own pipe extrusion andfittings may be used by the same manufacturer, provided thatthe pipe and fittings produced meet all the requirements of thisspecification.5.2.2 PVCThe thermoplas
22、tic material shall be a rigidPVC plastic and shall meet or exceed the requirements ofSpecification D 1784, for a minimum cell classification of12454 or of Specification D 4396, for a minimum cell classi-fication of 11432. Homopolymer PVC compounds that havehigher cell classifications, because one or
23、 more properties aresuperior to those of the specified compounds, are also accept-able. Clean rework PVC, generated from the manufacturersown pipe and fittings production may be used by the samemanufacturer provided that the pipe and fittings produced meetall the requirements of this specification.5
24、.3 The other component shall be portland cement-perliteconcrete or other inert filler material exhibiting the samedegree of performance, that essentially fills the truss annulus toform a composite pipe that meets the requirements of thisspecification.5.4 GasketsElastomeric seals (gaskets) shall comp
25、ly withrequirements described in Specifications F 477 and F 913.NOTE 1Gasket joints manufactured for PVC composite pipe only.5.5 LubricantsThe lubricant used for the assembly ofgasket joints shall have no detrimental effect on the gasket oron the pipe.6. Performance Requirements6.1 Pipe StiffnessPip
26、e tested in accordance with 10.2 shallhave a minimum pipe stiffness of 200 lb/in./in. (1380 kPa) at5 % deflection.6.2 Pipe DeflectionPipe tested in accordance with 10.2shall deflect a minimum of 7.5 % without rupture of inner orouter wall.NOTE 2The purpose of the quality control tests in 6.1 and 6.2
27、 is tofurnish test results for a consumer only upon his request at the time oforder and prior to shipment from the point of manufacture.6.3 Acid ConditioningPipe tested in accordance with 10.3shall meet the requirements of 6.1 and 6.2.NOTE 3This test is intended only for use as a qualification test,
28、 not foruse as a simulated service test nor a quality control test.6.4 Joint Tightness:6.4.1 Solvent Cement JointsPipe and fittings attached tothe pipe shall show no signs of leakage when tested inaccordance with 10.4.1 (See Note 3).6.4.2 Gasket Joints for PVC Composite PipeJoints shallshow no signs
29、 of leakage when tested in accordance with10.4.2 (See Note 3).6.5 Extrusion QualityWhen tested in accordance with10.5, PVC extruded pipe tubes shall not flake or disintegrate.NOTE 4This test is intended for use as a quality control test, not foruse as a simulated service test.7. Other Requirements7.

31、ment JointIn the solvent cement joint, thepipe spigot wedges into the tapered socket and the surfacesfuse together.7.2.2 ABS Solvent Cement JointsPrimer for priming sol-vent cemented joints shall be MEK (methyl ethyl ketone) andthe cement shall be MEK containing a minimum of 20 % byweight of dissolv
32、ed ABS as described in 5.2.1. The cementviscosity when measured in accordance with Method D of TestMethod D 1084 at 70 to 75 F (21 to 23C) with a No. 5 ZahnCup, shall fall within a range of 60 to 80 s. The solids contentof the cement shall be measured in accordance with Specifi-cation D 2235.7.2.3 P
33、VC Solvent Cement JointsThe cement shall com-ply with Specification D 2564, with the exception that theminimum resin content shall be 16 % and minimum viscosityshall be 3500 cP (3500 mPas).7.2.4 Transition Joints (ABS to PVC) Whenever a transi-tion joint is to be assembled, the cement shall comply w

36、7.3.1 Elastomeric joints shall be designed so that whenassembled, the gasket will be compressed in the joint to forma positive seal.7.3.2 The joint shall be designed to avoid displacement ofthe gasket when assembled in accordance with the manufac-turers recommendation.7.3.3 The assembly of joints sh
37、all be in accordance with themanufacturers recommendation.8. Dimensions8.1 Diameters and ThicknessThe pipe shall conform tothe dimensions and tolerances shown in Table 1 for ABScomposite pipe, and Table 2 for PVC composite pipe, whenmeasured in accordance with 10.6.1 and 10.6.2.8.2 Laying LengthPipe
38、 shall be furnished in standard1212 ft (3.82 m) lengths with a tolerance of 1 in. (25 mm)when measured in accordance 10.6.1. There is no limit for plusvariation. Other lengths may be provided, if agreed upon by thepurchaser and the seller.8.3 StraightnessPipe intended to be straight shall have amaxi
39、mum deviation from straightness of116 in./ft (4.85 mm/m)of length, when measured in accordance with 10.6.1.8.4 End SquarenessPipe ends shall be cut square to thelongitudinal axis as provided in Table 3, when measured inaccordance with 10.6.3.8.5 Joint Couplings, shall conform to the dimensions shown

Workmanship9.1 The inner and outer surfaces of the pipe, joints, andfittings shall be homogeneous throughout and free from visiblecracks, holes, foreign inclusions, and other injurious defects.The pipe, joints, a
