Scope*1.1 This classification system co

3、vers melt processible mold-ing, extrusion, and coating materials of ethylene-chlorotrifluoroethylene (E-CTFE) fluoroplastics. The resin is acopolymer of ethylene and chlorotrifluoroethylene containingapproximately 80 weight % of chlorotrifluoroethylene.1.2 The values stated in SI units, as detailed

4、in IEEE/ASTM SI-10, are to be regarded as standard.1.3 The following precautionary statement pertains only tothe test methods portion, Section 11 of this classificationsystem.This standard does not purport to address all of thesafety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is theresponsibility

Terminology3.1 Definitions: Definitions of terms used in this classifica-tion system shall be in accordance with Terminology D 883.3.1.1 lot, none production run or a uniform blend

11、of twoor more production runs.3.2 Abbreviations:Abbreviations are in accordance withTerminology D 1600.4. Classification4.1 ECTFE materials are classified into groups in accor-dance with their physical appearance. The groups are furtherdivided into classes based on melt flow rate. These classes ares

General Requirements6.1 The material covered by this classification system shallconform to the requirem

21、ents prescribed in Table E-CTFE whentested by the procedures specified herein.7. Detail Requirements7.1 Test specimens prepared in accordance with Section 10shall conform to the requirements prescribed for the particularclass.8. Sampling8.1 Sampling must be statistically adequate to satisfy therequi

22、rements of 12.4.9. Number of Tests9.1 One set of test specimens as prescribed in Section 11shall be considered sufficient for testing each sample. Theaverage result of the specimens tested shall conform to therequirements of this classification system.10. Specimen Preparation10.1 Test Specimens:10.1

23、.1 Prepare test moldings 3.18 6 0.3 mm(0.125 6 0.012 in.) thick between two 0.38 to 0.51 mm (0.015to 0.020 in.) thick chromium-plated ferrotype plates. Use a“picture frame” type compression molding chase with innerdimensions of 178 by 178 mm (7 by 7 in.) and having athickness suitable to produce the

24、 required molded sheet. Use acharge of resin sufficient to provide the thickness sheetspecified.10.1.2 Place the mold chase on top of a chromium-platedferrotype plate. Charge a quantity of resin sufficient to producea 3.18 6 0.30-mm (0.125 6 0.012-in.) sheet in a diagonalpattern from corner to corne

25、r forming an “X” pattern. Place theother chromium-plated ferrotype plate on top of the resincharge and place the assembly in a compression molding presswhich has been heated to 264 6 3C (507 6 5.4F). Apply apressure of 0.34 MPa (50 psi) and hold for 4 min. Increasepressure to 1.72 MPa (250 psi) and

26、hold for 1 min followed byincreasing the pressure to not less than 2.24 MPa (325 psi) andholding for 5 min. Remove the chase assembly from the pressand immediately quench it in an ice-water bath, vigorouslyD3275082agitating the chase. Remove the ferrotype plates, keeping thechase and molded sheet in

27、 the ice water bath until quenching iscomplete.11. Test Methods11.1 Conditioning:11.1.1 For tests of specific gravity, tensile properties, oxy-gen index, and electrical properties, condition the molded testspecimens in accordance with Procedure A of Practice D 618,with the exception that only 4-h co

28、nditioning is required.11.1.2 Conduct tests at the standard laboratory temperaturesof 23 6 2C (73.4 6 3.6F) for determination of specificgravity, tensile properties, and electrical properties. Since theresin does not absorb water, the maintenance of constanthumidity during testing is not necessary.

29、Conduct tests for meltflow rate, oxygen index, and melting endotherm under ordinarylaboratory conditions.11.2 Melt Flow RateDetermine the melt flow rate inaccordance with Test Method D 1238 modified by use ofcorrosion-resistant alloy for the barrel lining, orifice, and pistontip.11.3 Melting Endothe

30、rm PeakDetermine the melting en-dotherm peak in accordance with Test Method D 4591. Forinstruments capable of digital data processing of the meltingendotherm curve, the peak maximum, as determined by thepoint on the curve for which the tangent has zero slope, will bereported as the melting point. Ad

31、ditionally, the heat of fusionand recrystallization will be reported directly from the displayof the data processing equipment provided that the instrumenthas been calibrated with a standard material as defined in TestMethod D 4591.11.3.1 The use of other thermal techniques, such as differ-ential th

32、ermal analysis (DTA), capable of measuring themelting endotherm peak and giving equivalent results, isallowed.11.4 Specific GravityCut two specimens from the com-pression molded sheet and test in accordance with TestMethods D 792.11.5 Tensile PropertiesDetermine the tensile properties inaccordance w

33、ith Test Method D 638 with the following excep-tions:11.5.1 Use the test specimen and die identified in TestMethod D 1708 and shown in Fig. 1. The initial jaw separationshall be 22.2 6 0.13 mm (0.875 6 0.005 in.), and the speed oftesting shall be 51 mm/min (2 in./min). Clamp the specimenswith essent

34、ially equal lengths in each jaw. Determine theelongation from the chart, expressing it as a percentage of theinitial jaw separation.11.6 Dielectric Constant and Dissipation FactorDetermine the dielectric constant and dissipation factor onthree specimens, each 50.8 mm (2 in.) in diameter in accor-dan

35、ce with Test Methods D 150. Testing shall be at 60 Hz and106Hz.11.7 Oxygen IndexDetermine the oxygen index in accor-dance with Test Method D 2863.12. Inspection and Certification12.1 Inspection and certification of the material suppliedwith reference to a specification based on this classificationsy

36、stem shall be for conformance to the requirements specifiedherein.FIG. 1 Test Specimen and DieD327508312.2 Lot-acceptance shall be the basis on which acceptanceor rejection of the lot is made. The lot-acceptance inspectionshall consist of melt flow rate determination.12.3 Periodic check inspection w

37、ith reference to a specifi-cation based on this classification system shall consist of thetests for all requirements of the material under the specifica-tion. Inspection frequency shall be adequate to insure thematerial is certifiable in accordance with 12.4.12.4 Certification shall be that the mate

38、rial was manufac-tured by a process in statistical control, sampled, tested, andinspected in accordance with this classification system, andthat the average values for the lot meet the requirements of thespecification (line callout).12.5 A report of test results shall be furnished when re-quested. T

39、he report shall consist of results of the lot-acceptanceinspection for the shipment and the results of the most recentperiodic-check inspection.13. Packaging and Package Marking13.1 PackagingThe material shall be packaged in stan-dard commercial containers so constructed as to ensure accep-tance by

40、common or other carriers for safe transportation to thepoint of delivery unless otherwise specified in the contract ororder.13.2 MarkingShipping containers shall be marked withthe name of the material, type, or melt index, and quantitytherein.13.3 All packing, packaging, and marking provisions ofPra

41、ctice D 3892 shall apply to this classification system.14.
