Scope1.1 This specification covers vinyl-coated glass yarns.These y

3、arns are manufactured in two basic classes. Theseclasses have been established that when properly woven intoscreening, satisfactory strength, durability, and insect protec-tion are obtained. The two classes are as follows:1.1.1 Class 1Nominal thickness 0.292 mm 0.0115 in.1.1.2 Class 2Nominal thickne

4、ss 0.330 mm 0.0130 in.1.2 The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound unitsare to be regarded separately as standard. The values stated ineach system may not be exact equivalents; therefore, eachsystem shall be used independently of the other. Combiningvalues from the two systems may result i

Sampling and Number of Specimens4.1 Lot SampleAs a lot sample for acceptance testing, takeat random the number of yarn packages directed in anapplicable material specification or other agre

11、ement betweenthe purchaser and the supplier. Consider yarn packages to bethe primary sampling unit. In the absence of such agreement,proceed as follows:4.1.1 Yarn Number, Ignition Loss, and Breaking ForceTake the number of yarn packages specified in ANSI/ASQZZ1.9 using the count of yarn packages in

16、 the count ofyarn packages in the lot as a measure of the lot size.4.1.3 Color Stability to Accelerated WeatheringUse theyarn packages taken as a lot sample for strength, and yarnnumber as the lot sample for color stability to acceleratedweathering.NOTE 1An adequate specification or other agreement

17、between thepurchaser and the supplier requires taking into account the variabilitybetween shipping cartons, yarn packages, yarn within a shipping carton,and test specimens from a yarn package to produce a sampling plan withmeaningful producers risk, consumers risk, acceptable quality level, andlimit

18、ing quality level.4.2 Laboratory SampleAs a laboratory sample for accep-tance testing, proceed as follows:4.2.1 Yarn Number, Ignition Loss, Breaking Force, Color,and WorkmanshipUse the lot sampling units as laboratorysampling units.4.2.2 Color Stability to Accelerated Weathering and Low-Temperature

19、FlexibilityUse every fifth yarn package in thelot sample for breaking force, and yarn number as the labora-tory sampling units. For small lots, take at least one yarnpackage as a laboratory sampling unit.4.3 Test SpecimensProceed as follows:4.3.1 Yarn Number, Ignition Loss, and Breaking ForceTake th

20、e number of specimens per laboratory sampling unitspecified in the applicable test method. Evaluate the results oftesting using ANSI/ASQ Z1.9, Inspection Level IV, normalinspection, and an acceptable quality level of 1.5 %.4.3.2 Color and WorkmanshipUse the yarn packages inthe lot sample as the spec

Evaluate the results ofinspecting the specimens using ANSI/ASQZ Z1.4, InspectionLevel II, normal inspection, and an acceptable quality level of1.5 %.4.3.3 Color Stability to Accelerated WeatheringTake thenumber of specimens per laboratory sampling unit specified inthe test methods.REQUIREMENT

Material5.1 Input YarnThe yarn shall be glass continuous filamentglass yarn which meets the requirements of Specification D578for the applicable yarn construction.5.2 Plastic CoatingThe material used to coat or impreg-nate the glass continuous filament yarn shall be a compound ofpolymerized or c

23、opolymerized vinyl chloride resin, plasticizedwith phosphate or phthalate ester plasticizers exclusively,pigmented and stabilized to meet the requirements herein.5.2.1 Optional PlasticizerThe use of plasticizers otherthan phosphates and phtalates shall be agreed upon betweenpurchaser and supplier.6.

24、 Put-Up6.1 The vinyl-coated glass yarn shall be put up on packagesor tubes, and in containers whose dimensions shall be agreedupon between the purchaser and the supplier.7. Yarn Number, Ignition Loss, and Breaking Force7.1 The requirements of yarn number, ignition loss, andbreaking force are specifi

25、ed in Table 1.8. Color8.1 Samples shall be a commercial match to color standardsagreed upon between the purchaser and the supplier.NOTE 2Gray and charcoal are considered standard colors. They are ingeneral use and demand and are the most readily available. Other colorsare usually available on a made

26、-to-order basis.9. Workmanship9.1 As agreed upon between the purchaser and the supplier,the following defects shall be considered cause for rejection ofthe yarn package in which they occur:9.1.1 Uncoated or partially coated sections of yarn.9.1.2 Slubs, large lumps, or coating irregularities of such

27、degree as to adversely affect weaveability of the yarn or causeexcessive rejects of the final product. Small irregularities thatrepresent inherent characteristics of the coating are permitted.9.1.3 Yarns that have been bruised, cut, or mashed.9.1.4 Splices exceeding 25 mm 1 in. in length or havingun

28、bonded or fused ends.9.1.5 Any defect affecting the free unhampered unwindingof yarn or affecting the secure holding of yarn winds on thepackage.10. Color Stability to Accelerated Weathering10.1 When tested as specified in Section 18, the observedcolor change after 480 h shall be no greater than Ste

29、p 3 on thegray scale and after 960 h shall be no greater than Step 2 on thegray scale.10.2 When agreed upon between the purchaser and thesupplier, other exposure periods and other gray scale ratingsshall be acceptable.TEST METHODS11. Conditioning11.1 Condition the laboratory samples without precondi

30、-tioning for a period of at least 5 h in the atmosphere for testingglass textiles as directed in Practice D1776, unless otherwisespecified.NOTE 3In any event, 24 h is considered ample exposure time to bringthe samples to moisture equilibrium.12. Material12.1 Upon prior agreement, the purchaser shall

33、onform to agreement by inspection in the purchasers plant.14. Yarn Number14.1 Determine the yarn number as directed in Test MethodD1907. Report the yarn number as metres per kilogram yardsper pound. Test one specimen having a skein length of 27.5 m30 yd per laboratory sampling unit.NOTE 4Tex metres

34、per kilogram is equal to 496 055 divided by theyards per pound.14.2 See Annex A1 for information on precision and bias.15. Ignition Loss15.1 Determine the ignition loss as directed in Test MethodD4963 using one 27.5-m 30-yd skein of vinyl-coated glassyarn from each laboratory sampling unit.NOTE 5An

35、estimation of ignition loss can be obtained by subtractinginput yardage from control yarn yardage.16. Breaking Force16.1 Test the breaking force as directed in Test MethodD2256. A constant rate of extension (CRE) tester is recom-mended with pneumatic type clamps with fixed nubbingsurfaces which are

36、integral with one of the clamping surfaces.The snubbing surfaces may be circular with a diameter of notless than 12.5 mm 0.5 in. or may be semi-involute.16.2 Test five specimens per laboratory sampling unit usingeach of the following procedures:16.2.1 Use Option A1 for conditioned single-strandFORCE

37、. Preconditioning is not required.16.2.2 Use Option A2 for wet single-strand force. Immersefor 24 h in distilled water containing no wetting agents.16.3 See Annex A1 for information on precision and bias.17. Color and Workmanship17.1 Examine each yarn package in the laboratory samplefor visual appea

38、rance of its outer surface. Reject any yarnpackage having defects defined in Section 9 or whose color isnot a commercial match to the color standard.18. Color Stability to Accelerated Weathering18.1 Determine the color stability to accelerated weatheringas directed in Practice D4329, Cycle A, using

39、one appropriatesize specimen for a total exposure of 480 h and one appropriatesize specimen for a total exposure of 960 h for each laboratoryroll to be tested.18.1.1 Rate the specimens for color change after exposure inaccordance with AATCC Evaluation Procedure 1.CONFORMANCE AND INDEXING19. Conforma

40、nce19.1 The purchaser and the supplier shall agree on aprocedure to establish conformance, including control chartsfurnished by the supplier, a sequential sampling plan, ordouble-sampling plan outlined in 19.2.19.2 In the absence of a control chart or sequential samplingplan, proceed as directed in

41、19.2.1 19.2.3.19.2.1 If the test results for a lot conform to the require-ments for all characteristics listed in Sections 510 and Table1, the lot shall be considered acceptable.19.2.2 If the test results for one or more characteristics donot conform to the requirements, take a new laboratory sample

42、from either the original lot sample or a new lot sample. Test thenew sample for the characteristic(s) that did not conform to therequirements in the first test and average the results of the firstand second samples as if they were one test of double theoriginal number of specimens. If the new averag

43、e(s) con-form(s) to the specified requirements, the lot shall be consid-ered acceptable.19.2.3 If the test results obtained as directed in 19.2.2 do notconform to the specified requirements, the lot shall be consid-ered unacceptable.20. INTERLABORATORY TEST DATA FOR PRECISION AND BIAS FOR BREAKING force, THICKNESS, AND YARN NUM-BERA1.1 SummaryIn 95 out of 100 cases when comparingtwo averages, the differences s

45、hould not exceed the amountsshown in Table A1.1 for the respective number of determina-tions when all of the determinations are taken by the samewell-trained operator using the same piece of test equipmentand specimens randomly drawn from the same sample ofmaterial but tested at different times. Lar

46、ger differences arelikely to occur under all other conditions.A1.1.1 Larger differences are likely to occur under all otherconditions. The test methods specified for breaking force, andyarn number have no bias since the true value of breakingforce, and yarn number can only be defined in a specific t
