Scope1.1 This specification covers requirements for gloves madeof rubber-like latex, whether made of natural or synt

3、heticmaterials, unsupported with or without a flock lining, intendedfor household, beautician use, or general use.1.2 This specification is intended to serve as a guide topermit obtaining gloves of consistent performance. The safeand proper use of gloves is excluded from the scope of thisspecificati

Materials and Manufacture3.1 Any rubber-like materia

7、l whether comprised of naturalsynthetic, or other polymer compound that permits the glove tomeet the requirements of this specification is acceptable.4. Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance4.1 The gloves shall have a uniform finish and be free ofdiscoloration, thin spots, air bubbles, embedded partic

8、les,tackiness, and other blemishes likely to affect serviceability.5. Precautions5.1 Performance requirements are limited to minimumphysical properties initially, and after heat aging, in accordancewith 8.5.2 because performance testing for all possible usesituations is impractical. Gloves covered u

9、nder this specifica-tion are not intended for use with, or exposure to, chlorinatedor aromatic solvents, or other strong chemicals. If the glovesare made of, or contain natural rubber latex, they are notintended for exposure to products containing petroleum orpetroleum derivatives.6. Performance Req

10、uirements6.1 Gloves, sampled in accordance with Section 7, shallmeet the following requirements:6.1.1 Free from holes when tested in accordance with 8.2,6.1.2 Consistent design in accordance with 8.3,6.1.3 Consistent physical dimensions in accordance with8.4, and6.1.4 Have acceptable physical proper

11、ty characteristics inaccordance with 8.5.7. Sampling and Inspection7.1 For referee purposes, gloves shall be sampled andinspected in accordance with ISO 2859. The inspection levelsand acceptable quality levels (AQL) shall conform to those inTable 1, or as agreed upon between the purchaser and the se

12、ller,if the latter is more comprehensive.8. Test Methods8.1 The following tests shall be conducted to assure therequirements of Section 6, as prescribed in Table 1.1This specification is under the jurisdiction ofASTM Committee D11 on Rubberand is the direct responsibility of Subcommittee D11.40 on C

15、8-2959, United States.8.2 Freedom From HolesTesting for freedom from holesshall be conducted in accordance with Test Method D 5151.8.2.1 Manufacturers may use process controls for holedetection but for qualification and referee testing, the testmethod described in 8.2 shall be used.8.3 DesignThe glo

16、ve surface may be smooth or textured,with or without a pattern on the finger surface, and the glovemay have a rolled, natural edge or cut cuff. In any case, thegloves shall be either ambidextrous or in pairs (right hand, lefthand) and matched in design.8.4 Physical Dimensions Test:8.4.1 The gloves s

17、hall comply with the dimension require-ments prescribed in Table 2. The length shall be expressed inmillimetres as measured from the tip of the second finger to theoutside edge of the cuff.8.4.2 The width of the palm shall be expressed in millime-tres as measured laid flat at a level between the bas

18、e of theindex finger and the base of the thumb. Values of width per sizeother than listed shall meet the stated tolerance specified inTable 2.8.4.3 The thickness shall be expressed in millimetres asspecified in Table 2 when using a dial micrometer described inPractice D 3767. For referee tests, cutt

19、ing the glove is neces-sary to obtain single thickness measurements.8.4.4 Manufacturers may use process control tests to deter-mine dimensions, but finished gloves shall be used for quali-fication tests and referee tests.8.4.5 Precision and BiasThe precision and bias of mea-suring glove dimensions s

20、hall be in accordance with PracticeD 3767.8.5 Physical Requirements Test:8.5.1 Before and after accelerated aging, the gloves shallconform to the physical requirements specified in Table 3.Tests shall be conducted in accordance with Test MethodsD 412.8.5.2 Accelerated aging tests shall be conducted

21、in accor-dance with Test Methods D 573 or D 865. Test the gloves byeither one of the following test methods:8.5.2.1 After being subjected to a temperature of 70 6 2Cfor 166 6 2 h, the tensile strength and the ultimate elongationshall not be less than the values specified in Table 3. This shallbe the

22、 condition for referee tests.8.5.2.2 After being subjected to a temperature of 100 6 2Cfor 22 6 0.3 h, the tensile strength and ultimate elongationshall not be less than the values specified in Table 3.8.5.3 Manufacturers may use process control tests to deter-mine suitable shelf life but accelerate

23、d aging at 70C for 166 hshall be used for qualification tests and referee tests.8.5.4 Precision and BiasThe precision and bias of deter-mining tensile strength and ultimate elongation of gloves shallbe in accordance with Test Methods D 412.9. Product Marking9.1 Glove IdentificationEach glove, pair o

24、r individualpackage, shall be legibly marked to include the size, the name,or trademark of the manufacturer and the country of origin,coded or explicit.10. Packaging and Storage10.1 Unless otherwise specified, packaging shall be inaccordance with the manufacturers commercial practice.10.2 Natural ru

25、bber gloves shall not be allowed to come intocontact with oil-based antiseptics, phenols and their deriva-tives, petroleum-based products, or other materials harmful torubber.10.3 Gloves comprised of other polymers shall be labeledappropriately to avoid contact with materials that will causedeterior

26、ation of the barrier or is otherwise harmful to thematerial.10.4 Gloves shall be protected from exposure to excessiveheat and light in storage. (Temperatures below 40C arerecommended.)11. Quality Assurance11.1 Responsibility for InspectionWhen specified in thecontract or purchase order, the supplier

27、 is responsible forperformance of all inspection requirements.11.2 Gloves will be considered to meet the referee perfor-mance requirements when test results do not exceed the AQLin Table 1.11.3 Retests are permissible under the provisions ofISO 2859.12.
