1、Designation: D4759 11Standard Practice forDetermining the Specification Conformance ofGeosynthetics1This standard is issued under the fixed designation D4759; the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or, in the case of revision, the year of last revisio

2、n. A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval. Asuperscript epsilon () indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval. This standard has been approved for use by agencies of the Department of Defense.1. Scope1.1 This practice covers a procedure for determining

3、theconformance of geosynthetic properties to standard specifica-tions.1.2 This standard does not purport to address all of thesafety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is theresponsibility of the user of this standard to establish appro-priate safety and health practices and determine the

Significance and Use4.1 This practice provides a means by which the purchasercan determine the conformance of geosynthetic properties asapplied to the acceptance or rejection of a material in regardsto a material specification.4.2 This practice has been de

7、veloped with strong emphasison practicality and the realization that all geosynthetics aresubjected to a vigorous quality control program prior toshipping.NOTE 1It is suggested that the user obtain the mean, standarddeviation, and/or the coefficient of variation for given physical/mechanicalproperti

8、es of a product directly from the manufacturer. If this data isunavailable, it is suggested that users of this practice begin to accumulatedata that can be used to estimate product averages and standard deviationsfor each product.NOTE 2The risk to the purchaser of buying out of specificationmaterial

9、s is minimal when conformance requirements are detailed in thepurchase specification and adequate conformance testing is performed. Itis the producers responsibility to perform thorough quality control testingfor all properties requiring certification. The producers risk of rejection isminimal with

10、the performance of this thorough quality control testing.5. Summary of the Test Procedure5.1 Procedure AThis procedure determines the confor-mance of geosynthetic materials properties to acceptable speci-fications values.NOTE 3Conformance testing is done by the purchaser or designatedperson/organiza

11、tion. It is usually done as the geosynthetics are brought tothe project site and justify the payment of the billing (D4354). Typicallytesting is performed on the final product and no components to produce orassemble the final geosynthetic material need to be conformance tested.5.2 This procedure det

12、ermines the conformance of geo-composite geosynthetic material properties to a set of accept-able specification values. Typically multiple individual com-ponents need to be tested together with the final geocompositeproduct to show conformance with the acceptable materialspecification. Since those i

13、ndividual components might ormight not be altered during production/ assembly, samplecollection is typically executed during production/assembly atthe manufacturing facility.6. Procedure A6.1 Divide into lots and select lot and laboratory samples asdirected in Practice D4354.1This practice is under

14、the jurisdiction of ASTM Committee D35 on Geosyn-thetics and is the direct responsibility of Subcommittee D35.01 on MechanicalProperties.Current edition approved July 1, 2011. The 300 rolls in the lot wereassigned numbers and the five rolls to be used as lot samplingunits were selected using a table of random numbers.X1.1.3 Test Method D4533 specifies there will be onelaboratory s

EXAMPLE OF DETERMINING CONFORMANCE TO SPECIFICATION IN ACCORDANCE WITH PROCEDURE BX2.1 Assumptions This example assumes the following:X2.1.1 A geonet geocomposite is to be tested

Specifically the upper and lower geotextile used tomanufacture the geonet geocomposite requires a minimum oftrapezoid tear strength of 356 N (80 lbf) in machine and crossmachine direction.X2.1.2 For this example, the lot co

However, the materialspecification required sampling during manufacture at a fre-quency of every 35 rolls; the units for the lot sample wereselected at uniformly spaced time intervals t

The 175 geonet geocompositerolls in the lot were assigned sequentiallylabeled numbers andthe six rolls to be used as lot sampling units
