1、Designation: D4887/D4887M 11Standard Practice forPreparation of Viscosity Blends for Hot Recycled AsphaltMaterials1This standard is issued under the fixed designation D4887/D4887M; the number immediately following the designation indicates theyear of original adoption or, in the case of revision, th

Scope1.1 This practice covers the procedure for preparation of hotrecycled bituminous blends for testing in the labor

3、atory. Theprocedure involves an iterative trial blend process followed bythe preparation of batch blends.1.2 The batch blends can be used for extensive evaluationsuch as viscosity, penetration, ductility, aging properties (suchas Rolling Thin Film Oven or Thin-Film Oven tests, or both(RTFO/TFO), com

4、position analysis, solubility analysis, andother user-selected tests.1.3 This practice assumes that a representative reclaimedasphalt pavement (RAP) sample is extracted and the agedbinder recovered using Test Methods D2172 and Test MethodD1856 (this practice may be modified by using a rotaryevaporat

Summary of Practice3.1 This specification covers the use of a viscosity blendingchart shown in Fig. 1 or by a Performance Grade (PG

10、)temperature blending chart shown in Fig. 2 to determine thepercentage of a recycling agent, rejuvenating agent orpavinggrade- asphalt (hereafter referred to as virgin modifier)required to meet the target viscosity or PG temperature. Theblending chart based on viscosity is based upon results fromD21

11、71 compared to the limits of D3381. The PG blendingchart is based upon the results from D6816 and D7175 whichare compared to the limits of D6373. The procedure consists ofdetermining the asphalt binder grade of reclaimed asphaltbinder (hereafter referred to as RAM binder), estimating theblend by gra

12、phical methods and preparing a blend of virginmodifier and the RAM binder in the laboratory. The measuredproperties of the blend are compared to the target values. If theblend properties do not meet the requirements and are notwithin the limits of Specification D3381 or D6373, anothertrial blend is

13、prepared using adjusted proportions of the sameor an alternate virgin modifier, or both, and the RAM binder. Abatch blend larger than the trial blend can then be preparedafter the target viscosity is achieved to facilitate additionaltests.1This practice is under the jurisdiction of ASTM Committee D0

The frozenstate facilitates chipping and weighing the desired quantities with relativeease. Weighing should be executed

Alternatively, singlelarge batch
