Significance a

7、nd Use3.1 This specification provides uniform requirements for thepreparation of test samples used for testing of coatings andlinings to be used in nuclear power plants.3.2 At the users discretion, this standard may also be usedwhen preparing samples to be tested for the purpose ofassessing performa

8、nce attributes for coating and lining systemsthat may be applied in other types of power plants or for otherindustrial facilities.4. Steel Samples4.1 Sample size shall be a minimum of 2-in. wide by 4-in.long by18-in. thick (50.8-mm wide by 101.6-mm long by3.175-mm thick) unless otherwise stated in t

9、he referenced testmethod. Edges and corners may be rounded. A suitably located14 in. (6.35 mm) diameter hole may be provided in the testpanel as appropriate when required by the test method.4.1.1 For Test Method D4541 the minimum size shall be3-in. wide by 5-in. long by14-in. thick (76.2-mm wide by1

10、27-mm long by 6.35-mm thick).4.2 Unless otherwise required, all panels shall be carbonsteel, meeting the requirements of Specification A36/A36M.4.3 Surface preparation criteria, including substrate cleanli-ness and profile, shall be specified.5. Concrete Blocks5.1 The minimum size shall be 2-in. by

11、2-in. deep by 4-in.long (50.8-mm by 50.8-mm deep by 101.6-mm long) unlessotherwise stated in the referenced test method. The edges maybe chamfered up to14 in. 18、ocks shall be cast horizontally in forms using releaseagents that are compatible with the coatings/linings to be used.The top surface, as cast, shall be given a broom finish, unlessotherwise specified. The block surface is to be covered withplastic during the first 24 hours to simulate water curing

19、unlessa curing compound is included in the testing.5.4 The block shall be removed from the form after 24 hoursand wet cured in accordance with ACI 308 or Practice C192/C192M.5.5 If a curing compound is to be used, apply the compoundto the broom finished surface immediately after finishing and toall

20、other surfaces of the block within 2 hours after its removalfrom the form.5.6 Allow the block to cure for 28 days in accordance withACI 308 before application of the coating system unlessotherwise specified.5.7 A suitable hanger compatible with the testing apparatusshall be affixed at the mid-point

21、of the upper end of the blockas appropriate when required by the test method.6. Miscellaneous Materials6.1 Follow 4.1 and 4.3 for metallic materials such asaluminum, galvanized steel, and other metals.6.2 Follow 5.1 and 5.3 for castable materials such as grout,fireproofing, and other castables.7. Su

22、rface Preparation7.1 Steel:7.1.1 Surface preparation parameters shall be established.7.1.2 Users of this standard may identify project specificconditions, for example, weld configuration, corrosion pitting,etc. These conditions shall be specified as appropriate.7.2 Concrete:7.2.1 Surface preparation

23、 parameters shall be established.7.2.2 Users of this standard may identify project specificconditions, for example, configuration, texture, bugholes, etc.These conditions shall be required as appropriate.7.2.3 After curing, remove loose material on a broom finishsurface by light wire brushing. Remov

24、e loose material on a castsurface by blowing with air (80 to 100 psi), unless otherwisespecified, such as Practices D4258, D4259,orD4260.7.2.4 Bugholes, honeycomb, and other surface defects maybe simulated by drilling holes to test coating systems forpatching surface defects.8. Application8.1 All te

25、st samples shall be coated with the full coating/lining system including any applicable fillers, internal rein-forcement, curing compounds and sealants. The manufactur-ers latest published application instructions shall be followedfor mixing and coating/lining application unless otherwisedirected by

26、 the licensee. Any special procedures or conditionsshall be noted in the documentation including thinning, mixing,use of accelerators, drying/curing times, force curing, agingbetween coats/systems, and intermediate surface preparations.8.2 The film thickness range shall be representative of thespeci

27、fic work for which the testing is being conducted.8.3 Test samples for painting test programs may includesimulated aging of the existing coating, intermediate surfacepreparation and wide ranges of coating film thicknesses.Additional special requirements may be defined by the lic-ensee.8.4 All surfac

28、es of concrete blocks shall be coated whentesting in accordance with Test Method D3912. The upperand/or lower ends of the blocks shall be left uncoated for allother testing.9. Documentation and Records9.1 The manufacturers product identification, includingcolor, shall be reported.9.2 The procedures

29、and conditions used for the test samplepreparation shall be documented. As a minimum the documen-tation shall include all sample preparation times and dates,surface preparation details; thinners, accelerators, additives,reinforcement, and fillers added during the mixing and appli-cation process; coa

30、ting/ lining sequence and individual dry filmthickness ranges of each coat, total thickness range, environ-mental conditions, and product batch identification.9.3 Record any deviations or non-conformances.10.
