Classification3.1 Bridge deck waterproofing membrane systems coveredin this specification include three types:3.1.1 Typ
5、e ICold applied elastomeric.3.1.2 Type IIHot applied elastomeric.3.1.3 Type IIIPreformed sheet membrane.4. General Requirements4.1 Type I covers cold liquid-applied chemically curingmembrane materials that may be applied to a bridge deck toprevent the passage of water from the bituminous surfacecour
6、se to or through the bridge deck. A membrane protectioncourse, as specified by the membrane manufacturer, is re-quired.4.2 Type II covers hot applied elastomeric membrane sys-tems that prevent the passage of water from the bituminoussurface course to or through the bridge deck. A membraneprotection
7、course, as specified by the membrane manufacturer,is required.4.3 Type III covers preformed sheet membrane systemswhich prevent the passage of water from the bituminoussurface course to or through the bridge deck.5. Physical Properties5.1 Type I, II, and III:5.1.1 Permeability shall be determined in
8、 accordance withTest Method E 96 water method.5.1.2 Pliability shall be determined in accordance with TestMethod D 146, except that the test temperature of the testspecimen shall be 18C after 24 h and 180 bend over a 6-mm(14-in.) mandrel.6. Performance Requirements6.1 Bridge deck protective membrane
9、 materials shall beproposed as systems that shall specify each of the installationcomponents within the system and state the rates of applica-tions, and so forth, where applicable. Materials which arecombined in accordance with the system proposal shall meetthe requirements stated in performance (ap
10、plications) specifi-cation. Membrane, when tested at the manufacturers recom-mended rate of application, shall meet the minimum require-ments as stated in Table 1.7. Sampling7.1 Type IThe purchaser shall have the right to sampleand test the material at any point prior to being incorporatedinto the w
11、ork, to ensure that the material conforms to thespecified requirements. If sampled at the point of manufacture,it shall be the responsibility of the manufacturer to determinethat the samples taken are representative of the batches or lotsproposed for shipment. Samples for testing shall consist of no
12、tless than a total sample of 4.5 kg (10 lb) or 3.8 L (1 gal) ofliquid sealant from each batch or lot submitted for sampling. 15、ree containers selected at random. Eachof the three containers samples shall be resealed and markedfor identification, and have application instructions includingmaterial safety data sheets in each container.7.2 Type IIThe purchaser shall have the right to sampleand test the material at any point pr

A batchor lot shall be considered as all finished material that wasmanufactured simultaneously or continuously as a unit prior topackaging. Sam
18、ples shall be obtained by taking three unitsselected at random. Samples and heating shall be in accordancewith Practice D 5167. Each of the three units sampled shall beresealed and marked for identification, and have applicationinstructions including material safety data sheets in eachcontainer.7.3
19、Type IIIA sample, including a seam, sufficient in sizeto determine compliance with this specification shall be se-lected at random from each 10 000 m2(12 000 square yards) offabricated material to provide three test specimens. For smallerorders a suitable smaller lot size shall be selected for thera
20、ndom sampling. Each batch or lot of material shall also bevisually examined for dimensions, appearance, and workman-ship. Each test specimen shall be packaged with applicationinstructions and a material safety data sheet.8. Packaging and Package Marking8.1 Type IThe liquid membrane shall be packaged
21、 in 20-L(5-gal) sealed containers, or as otherwise specified by the user.Each container shall be clearly marked with the name andaddress of the manufacturer, the trade name of the liquidmembrane material, specification designation, the manufactur-ers batch or lot number, and application instructions
22、, unlessotherwise specified in the contract or purchase order.8.2 Type IIThe material shall be packaged at a maximumweight of 25-kg (55-lb) containers, or as otherwise specified bythe user. Each container shall be clearly marked with the nameand address of the manufacturer, the trade name of thememb
23、rane material, specification designation, the manufactur-ers batch or lot number, and application instructions, includingrecommended application temperature and safe heating tem-perature, unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchaseorder.8.3 Type IIIThe material shall be rolled on a substa
24、ntialcore and packaged in a standard commercial manner. Shippingcontainers shall be clearly marked with the name and addressof the manufacturer, the trade name of the material, specifica-tion designation, the manufacturers batch or lot number, andapplication instructions, including quantity in the p
