Scope*1.1 This specification covers requirements and methods oftest for the material, dimensions, and workmanship, and theproperties of extruded, compression molded, and injectionmolded PAEK sheet, plate, rod, and tubular bar manufacturedfrom PAEK.1.2 The proper

4、ties included in this specification are thoserequired for the compositions covered. Requirements neces-sary to identify particular characteristics important to special-ized applications are described by using the classificationsystem given in Section 4.1.3 This specification allows the use of key cl

5、ad plastics(see Section 4).1.4 The values are stated in inch-pound units and areregarded as the standard in all property and dimensional tables.For reference purposes, SI units are also included in Table 1.1.5 The following precautionary caveat pertains only to thetest method portion Section 11, of

Products included in the designations referenceClassification D4000 callout where applicable.4.2.1 The type of PAEK extruded, compression molded, andinjection molded product is categorized by type, grade andclass depending

18、 on resin and filler compositions as defined inTable S-PAEK.4.2.2 Every type of PAEK shape is categorized into one ofseveral grades as follows:4.2.2.1 Grade 1 General PurposeExtruded, compres-sion molded or injection molded product made using only100 % virgin PAEK resin.4.2.2.2 Grade 2 Recycle Grade

19、Extruded, compressionmolded or injection molded product made using any amount upto 100 % of recycled thermoplastic PAEK.4.3 The type, class and grade is further differentiated basedon dimensional stability (elevated temperature excursion test),Table S-PAEK and dimensional requirements, Tables A and

20、B.4.4 Property Tables:4.4.1 Table S-PAEK is used to describe extruded, compres-sion molded, and injection molded products.4.4.2 Table 1 is also used to describe extruded, compressionmolded, and injection molded products not included in TableS-PAEK via a cell callout which includes the applicable Tab

21、leS-PAEK PAEK type and specific properties (Designations 1through 7).4.4.3 To facilitate the incorporation of future or specialmaterials not covered by the Table S-PAEK, the “as specified”category (OO) for type, class and grade is shown on the tablewith the basic properties to be obtained from Table

22、 1, as theyapply.4.4.4 Reinforcements and additive materials. A symbol(single-letter) will be used for the major reinforcement orcombination, or both, along with two numbers which indicatethe percentage of addition by mass with the tolerances astabulated below. This must be included in all Table 1 c

26、lass1 = General purpose grade product4.5.2 The two examples illustrate how a one-line, alpha-numeric sequence identifies the product composition, commer-cial parameters and physical characteristics of extruded orcompression molded product. A space must be used as aseparator between the specification

27、 number and the typedesignation. No separators are needed between type, class andgrade. When special notes are to be included, such informationshould be preceded by a comma. Special tolerances must benoted at time of order and are inserted after the grade inparenthesis and preceded by a comma.5. Phy

28、sical Property Requirements5.1 The physical property values listed within this specifi-cations tables are to be considered minimum specificationvalues. Any requirement for specific test data for a givenproduction lot should be specified at the time of order. Physicalproperties for products not yet i

29、ncluded in Table S-PAEK shallbe specified using Table 1 for extruded, compression molded,and injection molded products.6. Dimensional Requirements6.1 The type, class, and grade is further differentiated basedon dimensional stability (elevated temperature excursion test),Table S-PAEK, and dimensional

30、 requirements, Tables A and B.Products shall be produced within commercial tolerances andD6262 172with the lowest stress levels for machined parts as delineated inTablesAand B for extruded products. The manner in which thetolerances are obtained is not relevant.6.2 Tubular bar and compression molded

31、 dimensions shallbe supplied in the unfinished condition, unless otherwisespecified at time of order, sufficient to finish to the nominaldimension ordered.6.3 The maximum allowable camber or bow, or both, shallbe within the limits referenced in Tables A and B.7. Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance7.

32、1 AppearanceThe color of products shall be as pub-lished by the shapes manufacturer. They shall be uniform incolor throughout the thickness. Specific colors and colormatching only as agreed to by order. Physical properties maybe affected by colors.7.2 FinishAll products shall be free of blisters, wr

33、inkles,cracks, gouges and defects that restrict commercial use of theproduct. Special surface finish shall be supplied only whenspecified in the purchase order or contract.7.3 DefectsAll products shall be free of voids, dirt,foreign material and embedded particles exceeding132 in. (0.8mm) maximum di

34、ameter as defined below.7.3.1 The criteria for determining the internal cleanlinessshall be external visual inspection. A maximum number of twointernal defects per square foot of plate/sheet and 1-ft (0.3-m)length of rod and tubular bar is allowed. Clusters of defects lessthan132 in. (0.8 mm) diamet

35、er are to be counted as a singledefect.8. Sampling8.1 The materials shall be sampled in accordance with asampling procedure statistically adequate to satisfy the require-ments of 12.1. A lot shall be considered as a unit of manufac-ture defined as a production run.9. Number of Tests9.1 Routine lot i

36、nspection shall consist of all the criteriaspecified in the applicable product tables.9.2 The criteria listed in these product tables and definitionsare sufficient to establish conformity of the sheet, plate, rod ortubular bars to this specification. When the number of testspecimens is not stated in

37、 the test method, a single determina-tion shall be made. If more than single determinations andseparate portions of the same sample are made, the results shallbe averaged. The final result shall conform to the requirementsprescribed in this specification.10. Test Conditions10.1 Conditioning of Speci

38、mensThe specification valuesand dimensions are based on conditioning techniques outlinedin Procedure A of Practice D618.10.2 Standard TemperatureThe tests shall be conducted atthe standard laboratory temperature of 73.4 6 3.6F (23 62C) and 50 6 10 % RH.11. Test Methods11.1 Tensile stress at break, e

39、longation at break, and tensilemodulus (tangent) in accordance with Test Method D638,atthe rate of 0.2 in. (5 mm)/min.11.1.1 All plate and sheet specimens are in accordance withType I of Test Method D638.11.1.2 All rod specimens are in accordance with Type I ofTest Method D638.11.1.3 All tubular bar

40、 specimens are in accordance withType I of Test Method D638.11.2 Dimensional Stability:11.2.1 Specimen Preparation (a Minimum of Three TestSamples Required):11.2.1.1 Rods and Tubular BarPrepare each specimen bycutting a 1.5 in. (38 mm) long slice from the shape to be tested.The slice shall then be m

41、achined, using a coolant and goodmachining practices to a length of 1.000 6 0.005 in. (25 60.13 mm). Each end of the specimen shall have a machinedsurface.11.2.1.2 Plate and SheerThe test is not applicable to sheetunder316 in. (4.8 mm) thick. Each specimen shall consist of a2 in. (51 mm) diameter di

42、sc machined from the flat (diametershall equal test specimen thickness with a minimum of 2.0 in.(51 mm). Use the same care in the machining as describedabove. The thickness of the specimen shall be that of theoriginal flat from which it was cut, no machining being done onthe top or bottom faces.11.2

43、.2 Testing ProcedurePlace the specimen in an oil bathconsisting of polyalkylene glycol or an air circulating oven andheated to the applicable temperature for PAEK type as notedbelow. Measure the outside diameter and thickness or length ofthe specimen as applicable at 73.4 6 1.8F (23 6 1C) to thenear

44、est 0.0001 in. (0.0025 mm). See 11.2.2.1. After 6 h, thespecimen shall be allowed to slowly cool to room temperatureat a rate not to exceed 40F (22C) per hour. Then measure thespecimen at 73.46 1.8F (23 6 1C) and calculate the percentchange in each dimension.11.2.2.1 Test temperatures:PAEK 5 40065.4

(1)11.3 Lengthwise Camber and Widthwise Bow:11.3.1 Make all measurements for camber and bow usingthe maximum distance rod, sheet, or plate deviates from thestraight line extended from edge to edge when measured inaccordance with 11.3.2. The shape shall be oriented such thatthe weight of th

46、e product doesnt influence the results.11.3.2 Rod, Sheet and Plate.11.3.2.1 RodRod will be laid on side and measured withconcave side facing the straight edge. Camber is measuredfrom the straight edge to the maximum concave point on rod.Camber shall not exceed the values of Table A for extruded orco

47、mpression molded product.11.3.2.2 Sheet and Plate up to and Including58 in. (16 mm)ThickPlate up to and including58 in. (1.6 mm)or less and the measured minimums diagonal meets thefollowing requirements: 1 ft (0.3 m) wide is 49-12 in. (125.5cm) minimum; 2 ft (0.6 m) wide is 53-34 in.
