3、c product used in the fabrication of end items or parts.1.2 This specification covers requirements and test methodsfor the material, dimensions, and workmanship, and the prop-erties of extruded- and compression-molded rod, and heavy-walled tube manufactured from granular unfilled PTFE resin inaccord

4、ance with Specification D4894.1.3 This specification covers rod and heavy-walled tubingmade wholly from polytetrafluoroethylene and produced inaccordance with good commercial practice.1.4 The properties included in this specification are thoserequired for the compositions covered. Requirements neces

5、-sary to identify particular characteristics important to special-ized applications are described by using the classificationsystem given in Section 4.1.5 This specification allows for the use of recycled plasticsas defined in Guide D7209.1.6 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regardeda

17、order.4.2 This specification covers product-extruded andcompression-molded as listed in Tables 1 and 2.4.2.1 The type of PTFE shape product is categorized bytype, class, and grade as defined in Tables 1 and 2.4.2.2 Each type of PTFE shape is categorized into one of thefollowing grades:4.2.2.1 Grade

18、1Virgin-extruded or compression-moldedproduct made using only 100 % virgin PTFE resin.4.2.2.2 Grade 2Recycled-extruded or compression-molded product made using any amount up to 100 % recycledPTFE plastic.4.2.3 Products can be further differentiated by propertyrequirements, as defined for three class

19、es of PTFE products inTables 1 and 2.4.2.3.1 Class 1A type of rod or heavy-walled tubinghaving maximum physical and electrical properties to meetrigid requirements.4.2.3.2 Class 2 (General Purpose)A type of rod or heavy-walled tubing having properties required of general electrical,mechanical, and c

32、ese two examples illustrate how a one-line, alpha-numeric sequence identifies the product composition, commer-cial parameters and physical characteristics of extruded orcompression molded product. A space must be used as aseparator between the specification number and the typedesignation. No separat

33、ors are needed between type, class, andgrade. When special notes are to be included, such informationshould be preceded by a comma. Special tolerances must benoted at the time of order and are inserted after the grade inparenthesis and preceded by a comma.5. Ordering Information5.1 All shapes covere

34、d by this specification shall be orderedusing the proper callout designation (see 4.6).6. Physical Property Requirements6.1 The physical property values listed within this specifi-cations tables are to be considered minimum specificationvalues. Any requirement for specific test data for a givenprodu

35、ction lot must be specified at the time of order. Physicalproperties for products not yet included in Table 1 are specifiedusing Classification D4000 for xtruded or compression-moldedproducts.6.2 Melting PointThe melting point of all types of rod andheavy-walled tubing shall be 327 6 10C when tested

36、 inaccordance with 12.7.7. Dimensions, Mass, and Permissible Variations7.1 The dimensions and tolerances of heavy-walled tubingshall be in accordance with Table 3. Measurements shall bemade in accordance with Method A of Test Methods D374.7.2 For rod and heavy-walled tubing, center-less-grind theout

37、side diameter to meet the tolerance given in Table 3.7.2.1 EccentricityThe eccentricity of the heavy-walledtubing, when measured as one-half of the difference betweenthe maximum and minimum wall thickness at either end of thetube, shall not exceed 10 % of the nominal wall thickness. 44、m change in a samplediameter of 0.5 % or a maximum change in a sample diameterof 3.0 %, or both.7.4 Products shall be produced within commercial toler-ances and with the lowest stress levels for machined parts asdelineated in Table 3.7.5 Tubular bar dimensions shall be supplied in the unfin-ished co

45、ndition, unless otherwise specified at time of order,sufficient to finish to the nominal dimension ordered.8. Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance8.1 ColorClass 1 shall be white to translucent withoccasional spots. Class 2 typically are white to light gray orlight brown. For Class 3, occasional small

46、 gray, brown, orblack spots shall not be considered cause for rejection.8.2 FinishThe rod or heavy-walled tubing shall be freefrom surface blisters, cracks, wrinkles, and other surfacedefects that might impair it for general use.8.3 Internal DefectsClasses C and D either shall be free ofall macrosco

47、pic voids, cracks, and foreign inclusions, or thelocation of such defects shall be marked or identified clearly.The examination for internal defects shall be made in accor-dance with Guide E94.9. Sampling9.1 Sampling shall be statistically adequate to satisfy therequirements of this specification.10

Number of Tests10.1 Routine lot inspection shall consist of all the criteriaspecified in the applicable product tables.10.2 The criteria listed in these product tables and defini-tions are sufficient to establish conformity of the sheet, plate,rod, or tubular bars to this specification. When the n

49、umber oftest specimens is not stated in the test method, make a singledetermination. If more than single determinations and separateportions of the same sample are made, the results shall beaveraged. The final result shall conform to the requirementsprescribed in this specification.11. Test Conditions11.1 Conditioning of SpecimensThe specification valuesand dimensions are based on conditioning techniques outlinedin Procedure A of Practice D618.11.2 Standard TemperatureThe tests shall be conducted atthe
