Thismeasurement may be used in support of a label statementregarding UV protection.1.3 The values stated in SI units are to be regard

Summary of Practice4.1 This practice directs the exposure of cloth, labeled asUV-protective, to conditions of laundering, simulated sunlight, and chlorinated pool water generally known to affect UVtran
10、smittance.4.2 This practice directs selection and sequencing of expo-sure conditions for UV-protective fabrics and garments.5. Significance and Use5.1 The significance of this practice is that cloth, labeled asUV-protective, which will ultimately be submitted for UVtransmittance testing will be in a
11、 state that simulates theircondition at the end of two years of normal seasonal use. Therefore, the UV-protection level ultimately placed on a labelestimates the maximum UV transmittance of the garmentfabric during a two-year life cycle.1This practice is under the jurisdiction ofASTM Committee D13 on

For small garments, such as childrens, where sufficient material is not available to meet the three testspecimens requirement, take a pair of garments and treat as onesampling unit.6.3 LaunderingUnless exempt from laundering, launderthe laboratory sampling unit or a

If the laboratory sampling unit does not havethe minimum 380-mm dimension, then take a section that is atleast 1450 cm2(225 in.2). For small samples, it may benecessary to seal the edges to prev
