Scope1.1 This specification covers (1) inorganic fiber-reinforcedorganic felt underlayment and (2) inorganic fiber-b

3、ased felt foruse as underlayment with steep-slope roofing products. Theintent of this specification is to provide criteria for producingand evaluating underlayments with a significantly reducedtendency to wrinkle before or after the installation of steeproofing products.1.2 The values stated in SI u

Terminology3.1 DefinitionsFor definitions of terms used in this speci-fication, refer to Terminology D 1079.4. Classification4.1 Organic felts that are reinforced with inorganic fibe

8、rs arecovered by this specification.4.2 Inorganic fiber-based asphaltic and nonasphaltic feltsare covered by this specification.5. Materials and Manufacture5.1 In the process of manufacture, a single thickness ofinorganic mat or organic felt that is reinforced with inorganicfibers shall be uniformly

9、 saturated or coated.6. Performance Requirements6.1 The material shall conform to the physical requirementsprescribed in Table 1.6.2 The finished product shall not crack nor be so sticky asto cause tearing or other damage upon being unrolled attemperatures between 1 and 60C (30 and 140F). Thefinishe

10、d product shall pass the water shower exposure test inaccordance with 8.1.4, indicating resistance to liquid watertransmission.7. Dimensions, Masses, Workmanship, Finish, andAppearance7.1 Dimensions and masses to be agreed upon betweenbuyer and seller.7.2 The finished material shall be free of visib

11、le externaldefects, such as holes, ragged or untrue edges, breaks, cracks,tears, bulges, and indentations.8. Sampling and Test Methods8.1 Sample the material and determine the properties enu-merated in this specification in accordance with Test MethodsD 146.1This specification is under the jurisdict

17、nspection9.1 Inspection of the material shall be made as agreed uponbetween the purchaser and the supplier as a part of the purchasecontract.10. Rejection and Resubmittal10.1 Failure to conform to any of the requirements pre-scribed in this specification shall constitute grounds for rejec-tion. In c

18、ase of rejection, the seller shall have the right tore-inspect the rejected material and resubmit the lot afterremoval of those packages not conforming to the requirements.11. Packaging and Package Marking11.1 Unless otherwise agreed upon between the supplier andpurchaser, each product package shall

19、 be plainly marked withthe suppliers name, the product brand, and the ASTM desig-nation.11.2 The rolls shall be securely wrapped or banded in amanner that completely encircles the roll and will preventslipping or unrolling.11.3 No roll shall contain more than two pieces, and nomore than 3 % of the r

20、olls in any lot shall contain two pieces.If a roll contains a manufacturing splice, the splice shall beclearly marked.12.
