1、Designation: D6930 10Standard Test Method forSettlement and Storage Stability of Emulsified Asphalts1This standard is issued under the fixed designation D6930; the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or, in the case of revision, the year of last revisi
2、on. A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval. Asuperscript epsilon () indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval. This standard has been approved for use by agencies of the Department of Defense.1. Scope1.1 This test method covers the ability of an emulsi
3、fiedasphalt to remain as a uniform dispersion during storage. It isapplicable to emulsified asphalts composed principally of asemisolid or liquid asphaltic base, water, and an emulsifyingagent.1.2 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded asstandard. No other units of measurement are included

Significance and Use3.1 This test method is useful for determining, in a com-paratively short time, the storage stability or settlement of anemulsified asphalt. It is a measure of th
6、e permanence of thedispersion as related to time, but it is not to be construed tohave significance as a measure of other stability aspectsinvolved in use.4. Summary of Test Method4.1 This test method determines the difference in percentresidue of samples taken from the top and bottom of materialpla

The result is expressed by determining the differencebetween the percent residue of the top and bottom samples forthe storage cylinder.5. Sample Conditioning for Testing5.1 All emulsified asphalts shall be properly stirred toachieve ho

The container shouldbe vented to relieve pressure. After the sample reaches 50 63C, stir the sample to achieve homogene
9、ity.5.3 Emulsified asphalts with viscosity testing requirementsof 25C should be mixed or stirred at 25 6 3C in the originalsample container to achieve homogeneity.NOTE 1Emulsified asphalts with viscosity testing requirements of25C may be heated and stirred as specified in 5.2, if necessary. In theev

Place a 500 mL representative sample in the glasscylinder. Stopper the cylinder and allow it to stand undisturbed,at laboratory air temperature 22C to 28C, for 2

After standing for thisperiod, remove approximately 55 mL of emulsified asphaltfrom the top of the cylinder by means of the pipet or siphonwithout disturbing the remainder of the sample. Replace in the oven for 1 h, thenremove the beakers from the oven, allow to cool to ambienttemperature, and weigh, with the rods (see Test M

Also, the placing of beakers andemulsified asphalt samples in a cold or warm oven, and bringing the ovenand sample up to a temperature of 163C together is permissible. Ifpreferred, pre
