A superscript epsilon () indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.INTRODUCTIONThese body measurement tables were developed from evaluation of data currently used in theapparel industry.These

3、 tables were developed from data published by the U.S. Department of Commerce; the CaesarStudy; the Size USA Study; current U.S. industry; and studies, scans, and documentation fromAlvanon Inc.2These tables take into consideration plus womens figures at a standard height of 165cm 5 ft 5 in. (65 % of

4、 average U.S. population) taking into account the decrease and increase in bodyweight that shift a person from one size to another while this person does not gain in height. Alsoincluded is a definition of body type curvy or straight as applied to waist, high-hip, hip/seat, thigh, andmid-thigh girth

5、s that result in a different body shape (silhouette). Major evaluation was done andreviewing the incremental growth at different major body points has been addressed and definedidentifying increase and decrease at different rates in specific areas: bust, waist, high-hip, and hip/seat.Additionally, t

6、o serve the industry better, incremental movement between sizes was reviewed ensuringsmooth transition between sizes. To verify the proposed body measurements, a three-dimensionalavatar was created in the plus womens size range 14W through 40W (curvy and straight) by AlvanonInc. for a visual referen

7、ce.1. Scope1.1 In these tables, body measurements of adult female pluswomens figure type sizes 14W40W are listed.Although theseare body measurements, they can be used as a baseline indesigning apparel for plus women in this size range whenconsidering such factors as fabric type ease for bodymovement

8、, styling, and fit.1.2 These tables list body measurements for the completerange of plus women sizing.1.3 The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound unitsare to be regarded separately as standard. The values stated ineach system may not be exact equivalents; therefore, eachsystem shall be us

9、ed independently of the other. Combiningvalues from the two systems may result in nonconformancewith the standard.1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of thesafety concerns, if any, associated with its use. Significance and Use4.1 The use of the body measurement information in Table1 and Table 2 will assist manufacturers in developing patternsand garments that are consistent with the current anthropomet-ric characteristics of the population of int

17、erest. This practiceshould, in turn, reduce or minimize consumer confusion anddissatisfaction related to apparel sizing. (Also refer to ISO3635.)4.2 Three-dimensional (3-D) avatars depicting each of theplus womens sizes and subcategory curvy and straight oncertain measures, were created by Alvanon,

18、Inc. and includedin this standard to assist manufacturers in visualizing theposture, shape, and proportions generated by the measurementscharts in Figures 16.5.
