Scope1.1 This is a material specification covering hybrid geosyn-thetic paving mats typically used for, but not limite
3、d to, use injoint and localized (spot) pavement repairs; and paving matsintended for curb-to-curb coverage to provide a moisturebarrier for the pavement structure and retard reflective crackingin bituminous overlays. They are typically nonwoven inconstruction. This is a material purchasing specifica
4、tion, anddesign review of use is recommended.1.2 This is not a construction or design specification. Thisspecification is based on hybrid geosynthetic paving matsurvivability from installation stresses.1.3 For purposes of determining conformance to thisspecification, values for length or area shall
5、be rounded to thenearest 0.1 m or 0.1 m2, respectively. Values for mass shall berounded to the nearest gram, and for force to the nearestNewton, and volume to the nearest 0.01 L, in accordance withthe rounding method in Practice E29.1.4 The text of this standard references notes and footnotesthat pr

Ordering Information5.1 Orders for material under this specification shall includethe following information:5.1.1 This specification designation and date of issue,5.1.2 Type I, II, III, or IV paving mat,5.1.3 Amount in square meters or square yards required,5.1.4 Whether special sampling for ins
25、pection is required(see Section 12), and5.1.5 Whether special packaging or marking is required (seeSection 16).6. Materials and Manufacture6.1 Fibers used in the manufacture of hybrid geosyntheticpaving mats may be inorganic or a combination of inorganicand organic fibers, and shall not melt at temp
26、eratures below205 C. Any threads used in joining paving mats by sewing orknitting shall consist of long-chain synthetic polymers, andshall also be heat stable to temperatures of 205 C. They shallbe formed into a stable network such that the filaments or yarnsretain their dimensional stability relati
27、ve to each other, includ-ing selvages.7. Mechanical Properties7.1 All property values in these specifications representminimum average roll values (MARV; that is, average testresults of any roll in a lot sampled for conformance or qualityassurance testing shall meet or exceed the minimum valuesprovi
28、ded herein).8. Dimensions, Mass, and Permissible Variations8.1 Roll Sizes:8.1.1 The manufacturer and purchaser shall agree upon thelength and width of the hybrid geosynthetic paving mat rolls.8.1.1.1 Roll dimensions of all types of hybrid geosyntheticpaving mats shall not vary by more than 0.5 % of
29、the statedlength and width.8.2 Mass Measurements:8.2.1 Mass of all types of hybrid geosynthetic paving matsshall not be less than the MARV values shown in Table 1.9. Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance9.1 Rolls of hybrid geosynthetic paving mats should be freeof cuts or rips in the outer covering th
30、at may cause damage tothe integrity of the paving mat. Minor scuffing or damage to theroll may be removed by cutting off the damaged section of thepaving mat.9.2 The ends of the cardboard tubes that serve as the corearound which the hybrid geosynthetic paving mat is wrappedshould be free of serious
31、damage that might impede smoothrollout of the paving mat during application. Minor denting ortearing will not impede normal application, but severelydamaged rolls shall be returned for credit to the supplier.10. Sampling10.1 Hybrid geosynthetic paving mats shall be subject tosampling and testing to
32、verify conformance with this specifi-cation. 37、sting, verification may be based on manufactur-ers certifications as a result of testing by the manufacturer ofquality assurance samples obtained using the procedure forSampling for Manufacturers Quality Assurance (MQA) Test-ing. A lot size shall be considered to be the shipment quantityof the given
38、 product, or a truckload of the given product,whichever is smaller.11. Number of Tests and Retests11.1 Testing shall be performed in accordance with themethods referenced in this specification for the indicatedapplication. The number of specimens to test per sample isspecified by each test method. P
39、aving mat product acceptanceshall be based on Practice D4759. Product acceptance isdetermined by comparing the average test results of allspecimens within a given sample to the specification MARV.Refer to Practice D4759 for more details regarding geotextileacceptance procedures.12. Inspection12.1 Un
40、less otherwise specified in the contract or purchaseorder, the supplier shall be responsible for the performance ofall inspection requirements as specified herein.12.2 Except as otherwise specified, the supplier shall usetheir own facilities or any commercial laboratory acceptable tothe purchaser fo
41、r analysis of material. The purchaser reservesthe right to perform any of the inspections set forth in thisspecification, where such inspections are deemed necessary toensure that supplies and services conform to the prescribedrequirements.13. Rejection and Rehearing13.1 The hybrid geosynthetic pavi
42、ng mat shall be subject torejection if it fails to conform to any of the requirements of thisspecification. Rejection should be reported to the producer orsupplier promptly and in writing. In case of dissatisfaction withthe results of the test, the producer or supplier may make claimfor a rehearing.
43、14. Certification14.1 The supplier shall provide to the purchaser a certificatestating the name of the manufacturer, product name, hybridgeosynthetic paving mat type, composition of the hybridgeosynthetic paving mat fabric and filaments or yarns, andother pertinent information to fully describe the
44、hybrid geo-synthetic paving mat.14.2 The manufacturer is responsible for establishing andmaintaining a quality control program to ensure compliancewith the requirements of the specification.14.3 The manufacturers certificate shall state the asphaltretention rate based on the results from Test Method
45、 D6140.14.4 The manufacturers certificate shall state that the fur-nished hybrid geosynthetic paving mat meets MARV require-ments of the specification as evaluated under the manufactur-ers quality control program.Aperson having legal authority tobind the manufacturer shall attest to the certificate.
46、14.5 Either mislabeling or misrepresentation of materialsshall be reason to reject those hybrid geosynthetic paving matproducts.15. Product Marking15.1 Hybrid geosynthetic paving mat labeling, shipment,and storage shall follow Guide D4873/D4873M. Product labelsshall clearly show the manufacturer or
47、supplier name, stylename, roll number, and length and width of roll. Each shippingdocument shall include a notation certifying that the material isin accordance with the manufacturers certificate.16. Packaging and Package Marking16.1 Each hybrid geosynthetic paving mat roll shall bewrapped with a ma
48、terial that will protect the paving mat,including the ends of the roll, from damage due to shipment,water, and contaminants. The protective wrapping shall bemaintained during periods of shipment and storage. Productlabels shall clearly show the manufacturer or supplier name,style name, and roll numb
49、er.17. Supplementary Requirements17.1 During storage, hybrid geosynthetic paving mat rollsshall be elevated off the ground and adequately covered toprotect them from the following: site construction damage,precipitation, chemicals that are strong acids or strong bases,flames including welding sparks, temperatures in excess of71 C, and any other environmental condition that may damagethe physical property values of the paving mat.18.
