Scope1.1 This specification establishes minimum requirementsfor adhesives used for the installation of tuf

3、ted or wovenbroadloom carpet, within a climate controlled structure, whenadhered directly, and permanently, to a structurally sound andrecommended substrate.1.2 This specification will provide the means to determineadhesive bonding variation as a result of different carpetbacking systems and their u

4、sage classifications based on thetraffic conditions they are subjected to.1.3 This specification is not applicable to specialty adhe-sives such as those necessary for PVC and Non-PVC backedcarpet tile and broadloom where the backing would be consid-ered homogenous in nature.1.4 The values stated in

5、inch-pound units are to be regardedas standard. 18、el/motel hallways, natural or synthetic fiber backed system.4.3 Class 3, Light Traffc, residential or light commercialuse acceptable, hotel/motel rooms, natural or synthetic fiberbacked system.5. Ordering Information5.1 Ordering quantities, lot sizes minimum and maximum,along with packaging availabi

19、lity, container size, etc., shall bedetermined by the adhesive manufacturer and/or end user andmay be subject to industry standards. Currently the floorcovering industry has found the standard packaging as follows:one (1) quart, one (1) gallon, four (4) gallon containers.6. Standard Conditioning6.1

20、Conditioning in AirCondition the specimens forphysical tests in air maintained at 73.4 6 3.6F (23 6 2C) and50 6 5 % relative humidity for not less than 3 h before testing.7. Chemical Composition7.1 The adhesive shall contain no reportable quantities ofhazardous ingredients as specified by OSHA Regul

21、ations 29CFR 19101200.7.2 The adhesive shall contain no toxic chemical subject toreporting requirement of Section 313 of Title III of SuperfundAmendments and Reauthorization Act of 1986 and of 40 CFR372.7.3 The adhesive shall not be reportable as a carcinogen asspecified by IARC, OSHA, NTP.IARC = In

22、ternational Agency for Research on CancerNTP = National Toxicology ProgramOSHA = Occupational Safety and Health Administration7.4 The adhesive shall contain no reportable known carci-nogenic chemical compound as identified by California Propo-sition 65.NOTE 1CA Prop 65 does not identify traceable am

23、ounts allowed.7.5 The adhesive formulation shall not contain formalde-hyde.7.6 The adhesive shall identify if natural latex is utilizedwithin the formulation.8. Physical Properties8.1 The adhesive shall be of a consistency free of lumps ofa smooth homogeneous consistency when stirred or troweled,app

24、lied to surface.8.2 The initial viscosity of the adhesive shall be determinedby Test Methods D1084 or D2556 as appropriate and recorded.9. Performance Requirements9.1 The adhesive shall be freeze thaw stable when tested inaccordance with Practice D7149. The allowable change fromthe initial viscosity

25、 to the freeze cycling completion shall notexceed a 610 % difference. The adhesive shall maintain itsoriginal integrity and exhibit a smooth consistency, free ofclumps when stirred. The adhesive shall not exhibit a stringycondition. The test temperature and compliance statement shallbe listed on the

26、 container label.9.2 Table 1 identifies the minimum requirements for com-pliance with the specific usage class and the corresponding testmethods.9.3 When tested in accordance with Practice D7532 thereshall be no more than a 10 % loss in peel strength after 24 hthan from initial test result.9.4 Accel

27、erated aging after exposure to heat.9.4.1 Prepare additional sets of test specimens as outlined inTest Methods D6004 and D6862.9.4.2 Utilizing the equipment and protocol in Test MethodF2199 condition then place the shear and peel specimens in theoven as described for a period of two weeks at 120F. T

28、heProcedure Sections 8.3, 8.4, 8.5, and 8.8 of Test Method F2199are not applicable since those sections are specific for themeasurement of tile.9.4.3 Sections 9 (Calculation) and 10 (Precautions) of TestMethod F2199 are also to be ignored and replaced by shear andpeel tests as outlined in their resp

29、ective documents.9.4.4 There shall be no more of a loss in adhesion of 10 %based on the initial results as obtained.NOTE 2An accelerated aging test through exposure to heat specific toadhesives is under development.NOTE 3There may be instances where duration of the test may belengthened if felt nece

30、ssary.10. Sampling10.1 Take a 2qt (2L) sample of adhesive that is represen-tative of the lot to be tested. Place 1qt (1L) of the adhesivein a wide-mouth glass or stainless steel container and sealtightly. Use for all the tests with the exception of freeze-thawstability, Practice D7149, and storage l

31、ife, Practice D1337. Forthe initial test only, to provide samples for testing these twoproperties, divide the second 1qt (1L) equally and use halffor the freeze-thaw stability and half for storage life. 35、recautionary statementsrequired.12.2 The adhesive shall be packaged in accordance withnormal commercial practice and packed to ensure acceptanceby common carrier and to provide protection against damageduring normal shipping, handling and storage unless otherrequirements (agreement between the manuf

CASTOR CHAIR TESTA1.1 The castor chair test can be followed by the protocolas described in either document; however the applied weightshall be as described in ISO 4918.
