Scope1.1 This specification covers geosynthetic storm sewer inletfilters used in highway drainage, roadway, residential,commercial, and industrial applications

3、. The inlet filter iscomprised of a rigid frame and a removable geosyntheticsediment bag. The sediment bag hangs suspended from therigid frame and includes a bypass that shall allow water flowinto the drainage structure if the bag is completely filled withsediment. Water flow through the bypass shal

4、l equal or exceedthe design flow of the inlet required at a specified drainagelocation.1.2 The requirements of this specification are intended toprovide an inlet filter system to collect sediment, trash, leaves,and other storm water contaminants from surface storm waterrunoff at drainage inlet locat

18、age location.6.1.1 FrameThe rigid frame shall be designed to supportthe design load on the frame. The frame must be capable ofsupporting the full design load without deformation when thegrate is removed. The frame shall not interfere with or elevatethe grate more than18 in.6.1.1.1 Calculate the desi

19、gn load, P, as follows:P 5 2satV (1)where:P = frame design load, lb,sat= unit weight of saturated soil, 120 lb ft3, andV = volume of sediment bag, ft3.6.1.1.2 The design engineer may specify a design loadbased on site-specific conditions, including a minimum designload.6.1.1.3 When specifying the fr

20、ame material, the designengineer should consider the materials ability to satisfystructural and durability requirements of the project, such asthe ability to resist damage from impact and vehicle loading,deflection, and buckling, and the ability to support a long-termload.6.1.2 Sediment Bag Geosynth

21、etic MaterialsThe sedimentbag shall be manufactured from a geotextile material or acomposite of geotextile and geosynthetic reinforcement. Geo-textiles shall meet the requirements of AASHTO M288 Class 1or 2 for subsurface drainage. The sediment bag must maintainshape to be extractable when completel

22、y filled with sediment.The bag must be sized appropriately to meet the treatment flowrate required.6.1.3 Sediment Bag Geosynthetic Materials When Used forTrash RemovalWhen used for removal of trash or largedebris only, the geosynthetic sediment bag may be constructedof open-weave geosynthetic. The o

23、pening size of the open-weave geosynthetic will be as specified by the engineer andmust be sized appropriately to remove the desired trash andlarge debris. The sediment bag must maintain shape to beextractable when completely filled with sediment, trash, ordebris. The bag must be sized appropriately

24、 to meet thetreatment flow rate required at the specified drainage structure.6.1.4 Bypass:6.1.4.1 Bypass Located in the FrameThe sediment baghangs suspended from the rigid frame with a bypass that shallallow water flow into the drainage structure if the bag iscompletely filled with sediment. Water f

25、low through the bypassshall equal or exceed the design flow of the inlet required at aspecified drainage location.6.1.4.2 Bypass Located in the Sediment BagOpenings areincluded in the sediment bag that shall allow water flow intothe drainage structure if the bag is filled with sediment to thelevel o

26、f the openings. The openings shall be sized so that waterflow through the bypass shall equal or exceed the design flowof the inlet required at a specified drainage location. Thevolume of the bag shall be calculated as the volume below thebypass openings. The openings in the sediment bag shall beunif

27、ormly made and reinforced. The strength of the reinforcedopenings in the bag shall be 90 % of the specified grabstrength of the geosythetic bag material.6.1.5 Frame ConnectionThe sediment bag hangs sus-pended from the rigid frame. The geosynthetic is fixed to theframe by a positive connection capabl

28、e of supporting the fullweight of the geotextile bag when completely full withsediment. The geosynthetic bag must be removable to facilitatereplacement. The sediment bag can be located in the frame orsupported by the frame if the means of connection to the framesupports the full weight of the geotex

29、tile bag when completelyfull with sediment and allows for full bypass flow.7. Test Requirements7.1 When used for sediment removal, the filtration effi-ciency testing shall be conducted on representative inlet filterdesigns and meet a minimum of 80 % gross removal efficiencywhen tested in accordance

30、with Test Method D7351, with flowdiverted into an area inlet. Alternatively, testing can becompleted on the filtration component of the geosynthetic perTest Method D5141. If desired, obtain representative samplesof the site-specific soil that is significant to the design of theinlet filter on the co

31、nstruction project. If testing is not sitespecific, the general soil type to be used for testing shall beloam with target grain sizes and plasticity index as shown inTable 1, unless otherwise specified.8. Product Marking8.1 The product shall be clearly marked as follows:8.1.1 Manufacturers name or t
