Scope1.1 These test methods cover instructions for making avariety of tests for the strength of the adhesive bond developedbetween a

3、 steel anchor and the surface of a hole in concrete ormasonry (including masonry units and mortar joints) and forassessing the effects on such bond of a variety of factorsincluding elevated temperature, fire, moisture, and freezing andthawing action. The specifier or manufacturer shall select thoset

4、ests that are appropriate for the given anchoring system andintended application.1.2 The adhesive-bonded anchor system refers to a smoothor deformed steel bar or threaded rod, set in a predrilled holecontaining chemical bonding compounds. Loads are trans-ferred mainly by the bond of the adhesive bot

5、h to the anchorand the surrounding elements along the sides of the hole. Foranchoring systems made of significantly different materials,these test methods shall be taken as a guideline.1.3 These test methods apply to all adhesives used to bondsteel anchors or steel reinforcement bars (rebar) to conc

6、rete ormasonry. These test methods apply to anchorages used inuncracked concrete or masonry. They do not apply to the use ofthe anchor in the concrete tension zone. The usual forcesapplied during the tests are in tension, shear, and under acombination of both tension and shear.1.4 The values stated

7、in inch-pound units are to be regardedas standard. The values given in parentheses are mathematicalconversions to SI units that are provided for information onlyand are not considered standard.1.5 This standard does not purport to address all of thesafety concerns, if any, associated with its use. Terminology3.1 Definitions of Terms Speci

10、fic to This Standard:3.1.1 baseline testrestrained test conducted on anchorsinstalled in the same test member and under the same instal-lation method as a required environmental test for comparisonpurposes.3.1.2 bonded anchora fastener placed in hardened con-crete or masonry that derives its holding

11、 strength from achemical compound placed between the wall of the hole andthe embedded portion of the anchor.4. Significance and Use4.1 These test methods are intended to provide informationfrom which applicable design data and specifications arederived for a given anchorage device and for qualifying

12、anchors or anchorage devices.4.2 These test methods shall be followed to ensure repro-ducibility of the test data.5. General Requirements5.1 The adhesive bonded anchors to be tested shall berepresentative of the product made available for typical fieldinstallations. The manufacturer shall provide in

13、formation onphysical, mechanical, and chemical properties of the anchorsystem. 16、rify, or have a specialized laboratoryverify, the physical, mechanical, and chemical properties of theadhesive.5.2 The installation equipment, instructions, and proceduresshall be as specified by the manufacturer. If there are anydeviations from the manufacturers instructions when testingcommercial

17、anchors, they shall be described in the report.5.3 The structural members shall be as described in TestMethods E488/E488M.5.4 The test and measuring equipment for performing statictension and shear tests, as well as dynamic tests, are describedin Test Methods E488/E488M. For performing long-term cre

18、eptests, equipment that will sustain the required loads withoutdistress shall be used.6. Materials and Manufacture6.1 The adhesive-bonded anchors shall be installed for usein accordance with written instructions of the manufacturer.Aninert filler that does not affect the performance of thecomponents

19、, if specified by the manufacturer, shall be uni-formly incorporated in one or both bonding components.7. Procedure7.1 This section presents the specific tests that shall beperformed as required to evaluate the bonded anchor system.When evaluating bonded anchors in concrete, the concretestrength sha

20、ll be 3000 6 500 psi (20 6 3 MPa) compressivestrength, unless otherwise specified, using aggregate of rivergravel or crushed rock. Cure the concrete for a minimum of28 days. Condition the test member to 75 6 10F (24 6 5C)prior to anchor installations, unless otherwise specified. Ma-sonry shall be pe

21、rmitted to be used as the test member.7.2 Static Tests:7.2.1 Perform tension and shear tests in accordance withTest Methods E488/E488M. All sizes are to be tested at bothminimum and maximum embedments expected. Shear tests atthe maximum embedment shall be permitted to be excluded ifshear tests at a

22、shallower embedment result in a steel failure. Ifthere is a difference greater than 9 anchor diameters betweenthese embedments additional intermediate embedments shallbe tested. Clean holes and install anchors as specified by themanufacturer. Measure and record hole diameters and/or drillbit diamete

23、rs. Install and cure anchors at 75 6 10F(24 6 5C).7.3 Dynamic Tests:7.3.1 Fatigue TestsPerform fatigue tests in accordancewith Test Methods E488/E488M.7.3.2 Seismic TestsPerform seismic tests in accordancewith Test Methods E488/E488M.7.4 Environmental Tests:7.4.1 The tests given in 7.4.3 7.4.8 are d

24、esigned todetermine the effect of loading and environmental influenceson the bond strength of the adhesive. To ensure bond failure,use steel of sufficiently high strength to prevent steel failure ofthe anchor. To provide comparative standardized data, anchorsshall be12 in.13 UNC Threaded Rod, unless

25、 otherwisespecified (12 mm), and be embedded 4.5 6 0.1 in.(115 6 2.5 mm). Test anchors of other diameters when speci-fied by the purchaser or manufacturer. Install and cure allanchors at 75 6 10 (24 6 5C), unless specified otherwise.Install and cure anchors according to the manufacturersinstructions

26、, unless directed otherwise.7.4.2 The tests given in 7.4.3 7.4.8 shall be conducted asrestrained tests or unrestrained tests, unless the section inquestion requires a specific test. A restrained test is defined asa test conducted in accordance with Test Methods E488/E488M except that the test equipm

27、ent support clearancerequirements of Test Methods E488/E488M do not apply. Thereaction base shall be approximately equal to the drilled holediameter for the anchor to preclude concrete or masonryfailure, but allow bond failure. An unrestrained test is definedas a test conducted in accordance with Te

28、st Methods E488/E488M. If the environmental tests are conducted as restrainedtests, baseline tests are required for comparison purposes.Baseline tests are defined as restrained tests conducted on three12-in. (12-mm) anchors embedded 4.5 6 0.1 in. (115 6 2.5mm) in the same base material using the sam

29、e installationmethod as the required environmental test. If the environmen-tal tests are conducted as unrestrained test, baseline tests arenot required.7.4.3 Test on Short-term Effect of FireThe purpose of thistest is to determine anchor performance when subjected to thetemperatures and times given

30、in the fire-temperature curve inTest Methods E119. This test shall be conducted in theunrestrained mode. Install and test a minimum of threeanchors. Use a test member that is sufficiently large (36 in.2(1 m2) to give realistic concrete or masonry response to thefire temperature exposure in the vicin

31、ity of the test anchor.Condition the test member in accordance with Test MethodsE119 under the “Protection and Conditioning of Test Speci-men” section. A typical set-up is shown in Fig. 1. Duringtesting, subject the anchors to a constant tension load. This loadshall be the allowable load for the anc

32、hor as determined in 7.2,or other load as specified by the manufacturer. Maintain theload as the fire temperature is increased in accordance with theTest Methods E119 time-temperature curve. Record tempera-ture and displacement readings at 1-min increments untilfailure occurs.7.4.4 Radiation TestPer

33、form these tests where the radia-tion resistance of the adhesive is required. The tests shall beconducted as restrained tests, or unrestrained tests. If testing isconducted in the restrained mode, baseline tests are required.Install and test a minimum of three anchors. Expose the testspecimens to a

34、minimum gamma radiation level of2107rads. Conduct tension tests and compare the irradiated anchorresults to the baseline test results if the radiation tests wereconducted in the restrained mode. Compare the irradiatedanchor results to the results determined in 7.2 for the same sizeanchor if the radi

35、ation tests were conducted in the unrestrainedmode. Upon completion of the tests, the testing agency shall beresponsible for safely disposing of the test samples in accor-dance with applicable regulations.E1512 01 (2015)27.4.5 Tests on Effect of Freezing and Thawing ConditionsThe tests shall be cond

36、ucted as restrained tests, or unrestrainedtests. If testing is conducted in the restrained mode, baselinetests are required. Install and test a minimum of three anchors.Freezing-and-thawing resistant concrete shall be used as anoption. Cover the surface of the test member, within aminimum 3-in. (76-

37、mm) radius from the center of the testanchor, with tap water, maintaining a minimum of12-in.(12-mm) depth throughout the test. Load each anchor with aconstant tension load equal to at least 40 % of the ultimate loadcapacity of the baseline tests for restrained tests, or 40 % of theultimate load capa

38、city for the same size anchor determined in7.2 for an unrestrained test. This load is to be maintainedduring the freezing and thawing cycles. The nominal freezingand thawing cycles shall consist of alternately lowering thetemperature of the chamber to 10F (23C) and holding thistemperature for 3 h, t

39、hen raising the temperature to 104F(40C) and holding this temperature for 3 h. Measure thetemperature at the surface of the concrete at a location outsidethe standing water. At the completion of fifty complete cycles,conduct tension tests and compare the results to the baselinetest results or to the

40、 results determined in 7.2 for the same sizeanchor as applicable.7.4.6 Tests on Effects of Damp EnvironmentThe tests shallbe conducted as restrained tests, or unrestrained tests. If testingis conducted in the restrained mode, baseline tests are required.Install and test a minimum of three anchors. P

41、rior to anchorinstallations, fill the test holes with tap water and maintain thewater level filled for a minimum of seven days. Immediatelyprior to installing the anchors, all freestanding water shall beremoved so that the walls of the test holes are surface moist.After the appropriate cure time has

42、 elapsed, conduct tensiontests to failure and compare the results to the baseline testresults or to the results determined in 7.2 for the same sizeanchor as applicable. If the application requires installation inwater-filled holes, conduct the test as described above exceptthat the freestanding wate

43、r is not removed. Install the anchorsin the water-filled holes.7.4.7 Tests on Effect of Service Temperature:7.4.7.1 Tests on Effect of Elevated Temperature on CuredSamplesThe tests shall be conducted as restrained tests, orunrestrained tests. Install and test a minimum of three anchorsfor each tempe

44、rature data point. Test a sufficient number oftemperature data points to develop a load-temperature responsecurve of the adhesive anchor. Test, as a minimum 70F (21C)and at least four higher temperatures, one of which shall be atleast 180F (82C). All anchors are to be installed and cured at75 6 10F

45、(24 6 5C). Following the recommended cureperiod, heat and maintain the specimens at the desired tem-perature for a minimum of 24 h. Remove the test specimensfrom the heating chamber and tension test the anchors imme-diately in order to assure the test specimens remain at theconditioned temperature.

46、A thermocouple inserted into the testmember may be used to confirm the temperature at the time oftesting. Plot a chart depicting the performance trend showingthe percentage change, compare to the strength at 70F (21C),attributed to the change in temperature.7.4.7.2 Tests on Effect of Reduced Tempera

47、ture on CuringThe tests shall be conducted as restrained tests, or unrestrainedtests. Install and test a minimum of three anchors. Prior toinstallation, condition the anchor rod and test member to thedesired temperature and maintain that temperature for a mini-mum of 24 h. Install the anchors and al

48、low them to cure at thestabilized temperature for the manufacturers recommendedcure time. Remove the test specimens from the coolingchamber and tension test the anchors immediately in order toassure the test specimens remain at the conditioned tempera-ture. A thermocouple inserted into the test memb

49、er may beused to confirm the temperature at the time of testing. Comparethe results to the load obtained in 7.4.7.1 at 70F (21C).
