3、 specification covers two-part adhesives for bondingfoam core sandwich panels. The adhesive may be used for newproduction or depot maintenance. The adhesive should besuitable for forming bonds that can withstand long-termexposure to temperatures from 55 to 93C (67 to 200F) andalso withstand combinat
4、ions of stress, temperature, and humid-ity expected to be encountered in service. The adhesives shallbe used for bonding aluminum alloy facing to foam core,inserts, internal aluminum framing members, and other com-ponents of a foam cored sandwich panel.1.2 The values stated in SI units are to be reg

Requirements4.1 MaterialT
10、he adhesive shall be a two-part thermoset-ting epoxy paste containing no asbestos and, when tested usingthe test methods described in Section 6, shall meet therequirements of Section 4. The adhesive shall not have adeleterious effect on the components being bonded over therange of temperatures at wh
11、ich the adhesive will be used.4.2 Working Characteristics:4.2.1 ApplicationThe adhesive shall be suitable for appli-cation to facings and foam core materials. The adhesive shallbe suitable for spray application to faying surfaces.4.2.2 CuringThe time, temperature, and pressure used tocure the adhesi
12、ve shall be within the range specified herein.4.2.2.1 Curing Time and TemperatureThe adhesive, whenmixed in accordance with the manufacturers instructions, shallmeet the requirements of this specification when cured at atemperature of not more than 99C (210F) for 60 min, or107C (225F) for 45 min. Th
13、e timing of the cure shall startwhen the panel skins have reached the specified temperature.The temperature for the cure shall be fully attained within 3 hafter the first application of the adhesive to the faying surface.4.2.2.2 Curing PressureSpecimens for testing under thisspecification shall be c

No more than2hat25C (77F) shall elapsebetween the application of the adhesive to the faying surfaceand the application of the pressure.4.2.3 Mix RatioThe mix ratio for the two parts of theadhesive shall be as defined by the manufacturer.4.3 Storage LifeThe storage life
18、shall not exceed one yearfrom the date of manufacture, when the components of theadhesive are stored at a temperature between 10C (50F) and42C (90F). The adhesive shall be considered to have met thisstorage life requirement if all the characteristics described in4.1 and 4.5 are met by the adhesive a
19、fter the one year storageperiod described above.4.4 Adhesive LifeThe adhesive life of one quart of themixed adhesive at 25C (77F) shall not be less than 120 min(2 h), at which time the adhesive shall meet the requirements of4.5.4.5 Mechanical PropertiesThe minimum mechanicalproperties of the adhesiv
20、es, when cured as specified, shall meetthe requirements of Table 1.5. Significance and Use5.1 This specification is intended to provide information onthe properties of adhesives, and the test methods required toevaluate adhesives to be used in the production bonding ofaluminum alloys to foam core ma
21、terials for the manufacture oftactical shelters.6. Test Methods6.1 Qualification TestsFor qualification, the adhesiveshall be tested using the tests described in this section. Sheartests shall be performed in accordance with Test MethodD 1002 except that the length of the test coupon shall be 103.7m
22、m (414 in.) and the thickness shall be 2.196 mm (0.090 in.).6.2 Preparation of Test SpecimensPrepare at least tenspecimens for each separate test. The metal to be bonded shallbe 6061 T6 (Federal Specification QQ-A-250/11d or Specifi-cation B 209) and cleaned as specified in Practice E 864. Time,temp
23、erature, and pressure for curing the adhesive shall be asspecified in 5.3.2.1 and 5.3.2.2.6.3 Room Temperature ShearSubject specimens to a ten-sile shear test at a room temperature of 27 6 6C (80 6 10F).6.4 Low Temperature ShearTest specimens at 54 6 3C(65 6 5F). Bring the specimens to temperature a
24、s indicatedby a thermocouple at the bond area and stabilize for 10 6 1min just prior to test. Stabilize the chamber used to test thespecimens at the test temperature for 45 min prior to testing.6.5 High Temperature ShearTest specimens at93 + 0, 3C (200 + 0, 5F). Bring the specimens to tempera-ture a
25、s indicated by a thermocouple at the bond area andstabilize for 10 min just prior to test. Stabilize the chamberused to test the specimens at the test temperature for 45 minprior to testing.6.6 Humidity ExposureTest lap shear specimens at 93 63C (200 6 5F) after 2 weeks exposure to 100 % relativehum
26、idity and 93 6 3C (200 6 5F). Bring the specimen totemperature as indicated by a thermocouple at the bond areaand stabilize for 10 min just prior to test. Stabilize the chamberused to test the specimens at temperature and humidity for 45min prior to testing. Start the test of each humidity exposuret
27、est specimen no later than 30 min after removing it from thehumidity chamber.6.7 Salt Spray ExposureTest specimens at 27 6 6C (806 10F) after exposure to the salt spray test of MIL-STD-202Fusing a 20 % NaCl solution at 35 6 3C (95 6 5F). Stabilizethe specimens at the test temperature as indicated by
28、 athermocouple at the bond area for 10 min just prior to test.7. Inspection7.1 Qualification InspectionThe inspection requirementsspecified herein are classified as follows:7.1.1 Qualification TestUnless otherwise specified by thepurchaser, adhesives that have not passed the qualificationtests, or t
29、hat have previously passed the tests but havesubsequently been modified in any manner, shall be testedagainst this specification and shown to meet its requirements.7.1.1.1 Instruction SheetA dated, coded, and titled in-struction sheet that outlines instruction for use of the adhesiveon bonding metal
30、 facings to foam core and metal componentsshall be supplied by the manufacturer. These instructions shallbe forwarded with the test report when requesting qualification.In addition, a copy of the instruction sheet shall accompanyeach shipment of the adhesive.7.1.2 Reevaluation ProcedureIn the event
31、that two ormore test results should fall below the minimum specified forany of the qualification tests, the submitted product shall beconsidered to have failed qualification testing. In this case, thelot along with two additional lots may be retested for that test.If all of these pass, the product w
32、ill be considered as beingqualified.7.2 Quality Conformance InspectionThe number of testspecimens for conformance testing shall be five. The testprocedure, cure of the adhesive, and surface preparation shallbe in accordance with 6.2.7.2.1 TestsSamples of each lot of adhesive delivered oncontract of
33、order shall be subjected to the following qualityconformance tests. Test reports, in duplicate, shall be furnishedfor all quality conformance tests specified in this specification,and shall be signed by an authorized representative of thelaboratory making the tests. Acceptance or approval of mate-ri
34、als during the course of manufacture shall not be construed asa guarantee of acceptance of the finished product.7.2.2 Room Temperature Shear (Acceptance)The roomtemperature shear strength test shall be conducted in accor-dance with 6.3 using 6061 T6 aluminum alloy.7.2.3 High Temperature Shear (Accep
