1、Designation: E 2321 03Standard Practice forUse of Test Methods E96for Determining the Water VaporTransmission (WVT) of Exterior Insulation and FinishSystems (EIFS)1This standard is issued under the fixed designation E 2321; the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforigin

2、al adoption or, in the case of revision, the year of last revision. A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval. Asuperscript epsilon (e) indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1. Scope1.1 This standard describes how to use Test Methods E96todetermine t

3、he water vapor transmission (WVT) characteristicsof an EIFS sample.1.2 An Exterior Insulation and Finish System (EIFS) is amultilayer exterior building wall material that consists of anumber of layers. For the purpose of this standard, these layers, whether they be individual EIFS component materials

4、 in singlelayers, or groups of EIFS component materials, are called the“EIFS sample.”1.3 The Water Method, Procedures B and D described insection X1.1.2 and X1.1.5 of Appendix X1 of Test MethodsE96shall be used in this standard.1.4 This standard is limited to specimens not over 114 in.(32 mm) in thi

Metric inch-pound conversion factors for watervapor transmission, permeance, and permeability are stated inTable 1 of Test Methods E96. All conversions of mm Hg to Paa

6、re made at a temperature of 0C.1.6 This standard does not purport to address all of thesafety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is theresponsibility of the user of this standard to establish appro-priate safety and health practices and determine the applica-bility of regulatory limitatio

Significance and Use5.1 The purpose of this test is to obtain steady state valuesof water vapor

This charac-teristic of EIFS is commonly requested by regulatory anddesign organizations, and is used in thermal and moisture1This practice is under the jurisdiction of ASTM Committee E06 on Perfor-mance of Buildings and is the direct responsibility of Subcommittee

For this reason, the test conditions selected arethose that most closely approach the conditions of use for EIFScomponents and assemblies.5.3 This standard s

Other methods are available, andshould be considered and used as appropriate.5.4 To be meaningful in evaluating the thermal and moisturecondition of a given EIFS wall as

Apparatus6.1 The apparatus shall be as described in Test MethodsE96, sections 6.1, 6.2, and 6.3. The Water Method, ProceduresB and D, shall be used; the Desic
