Scope1.1 This specification covers the general performance re-quirements for the Type II Cargo Bed Cover (CBC). The TypeII Cargo Be

Unless otherwise specified (see 6.2), all testing shallbe performed on the same Type

The presence of anyvisual defect, any dimension not within the specified tolerance,or failure of any test shall be cause for rejection of the firstarticle.4.2.2 Comparison Sample InspectionWhen a comparisonsample inspection is required (see 6.2), it shall be inspected andtested as specified
8、 in 4.2.1.4.2.3 Quality Conformance InspectionUnless otherwisespecified, sampling for inspection shall be performed in accor-dance with ANSI/ASQC Z1.4-2003.4.2.3.1 Component and Material InspectionIn accordancewith 4.1, components and materials shall be inspected inaccordance with all the requiremen
9、ts of referenced documentsunless otherwise excluded, amended, modified, or qualified inthis specification or applicable purchase document.4.2.3.2 End Item Visual ExaminationThe end item shallbe examined for the defects listed in Table 3. The lot size shallbe expressed in units of one Type II CBC. Th
10、e sample unitshall be one Type II CBC. The inspection level shall be II andthe AQL, expressed in terms of defects per hundred units, shallbe 4.0 for major defects and 6.5 for total (major and minorcombined) defects.4.2.3.3 End Item Dimensional ExaminationThe end itemshall be examined for conformance
11、 to dimensions specified.E2463054Any dimension not within the specified tolerance shall beclassified as a defect. The lot size shall be expressed in units ofone shelter. The sample unit shall be one shelter. The inspec-tion level shall be II and theAQL, expressed in terms of defectsper hundred units
12、, shall be 4.0.4.3 Verification Methods4.3.1 WeightCompliance with 3.2.1 shall be determinedby weighing the Type II CBC and its mounting hardware. Thescale used shall have a one (1) lb or less graduation and shallhave an accuracy within plus or minus one (1) lb. The scaleshall have a current calibra
13、tion traceable to the NationalInstitute for Standards and Technology. Failure to meet therequirements of 3.4.1 shall constitute failure of this test.4.3.2 Tailgate OperationWith the Type II CBC mountedon its carrier, the carriers tailgate shall be operated (that is,opened and then closed). Failure t
14、o meet the requirements of3.2.2 shall constitute failure of this test.4.3.3 BlackoutThe Type II CBC/carrier combination shallbe located at the center of a circle of radius 300 meters, onlevel ground, in an area with a wooded or hilly background(that is, the silhouette should not be above the horizon
15、). Thereshall be no significant obstructions (higher than 18 in. (46cm)between observers located on the circumference of the circleand the Type II CBC/carrier combination. Testing will beconducted in hours of darkness between early evening nauticaltwilight (EENT) and beginning morning nautical twili
16、ght(BMNT) on a moonless night. A 100-watt unshielded whitelight bulb, rated at no less than 17 Lumens per Watt,A-19 style,shall be located inside the Type II CBC and suspendedapproximately one (1) ft from the top and center of the Type IICBC with all doors, ports, and vents closed. The light shall b
17、eturned on and off at random intervals for a period of 5 minutes.Eight observers, positioned along the circumference of thecircle at 45 degree intervals starting from the forward longitu-dinal axis of the Type II CBC/carrier combination, shall recordany light detected during the test period. Failure
18、 to meet therequirements of 3.2.3 shall constitute failure of this test.4.3.4 InterchangeabilityCompliance with 3.2.4 shall bedetermined by selecting two Type II CBCs from the productionlot of completed Type II CBCs. All removable parts shall beinterchanged between Type II CBCs selected. The interch
19、angeshall be accomplished by removing the fasteners, interchang-ing the parts and reinstalling the fasteners. Inability to inter-change the parts in accordance with 3.2.4 shall constitutefailure of this test.4.3.5 MountingUsing only the hardware provided withthe Type II CBC, the Type II CBC shall un
20、dergo 10 cycles ofinstallation and removal (see Table 2) from its carrier inaccordance with its manual. The CBC and its carrier shall beinspected after each cycle for damage or degradation. Failureto meet the requirements of 3.2.5 shall constitute failure of thistest.4.3.6 ToxicityDemonstrate the Ty
21、pe II CBC does notproduce toxic exposures by meeting ACGIH Threshold LimitValues for materials used in the Type II CBCs construction.Atthe beginning of First Article Verifications (FAV) and duringthe high temperature phases of temperature range (4.3.23.1)and thermal shock (4.3.23), a panel of three
22、inspectors shallperform odor tests. Any smell, persisting after 15 seconds,classified as nauseous, repellent, burning or strongly penetrat-ing or causing dizziness, drying of nasal passages, sneezing orany adverse reaction, detected by any of the inspectors shall beconsidered a failure. Failure to m
23、eet the requirements of 3.3.5shall constitute failure of this test.4.3.7 Personnel Door.4.3.7.1 Door HandleThe personnel door shall be securelyclosed. A 10-lb force shall be applied to the exterior personneldoor handle in the direction which best facilitates moving thehandle into its open position.
24、After it has been verified that 10lbs is adequate to move the handle fully into its open position,the personnel door shall be opened 160 degrees. The personneldoor shall then be closed and a 10-lb force shall be applied tothe exterior handle in the direction which best facilitatesmoving the handle t
25、o its closed position. Failure to meet therequirements of 3.3.1.1 shall constitute failure of this test.4.3.7.2 Secondary ExitThe Type II CBC secondary exitshall be measured and examined to determine compliance with3.3.1.2. 46、orexamined. Failure to meet the requirements of 3.4.3.1 shallconstitute failure of this test.4.3.14.2 Door StopThe door shall be in the open positionheld by the door stop mechanism. A load, equal to 10 lbs/ft2times the largest surface area of the door, shall be appliednormal to the doors surface. Th
47、e load shall be applied at themidpoint of the edge of the door, opposite the hinge, for one (1)minute. 48、t.4.3.15 Surface Impact ResistanceEach type of roof andwall construction found on the completed Type II CBC shall besubjected to an impact from a 30-lb steel cylinder. The cylindershall be 3.00 in. in diameter with a hemispherical end. Thecylinder shall be dropped from a height of 30.00 in. onto the
49、exterior surface of the roof and from a height of 16 inches ontothe exterior surfaces of the walls. The cylinder shall be orientedand dropped vertically so that the center of the hemisphericalend of the cylinder strikes the center of the designated test area.The test area shall be oriented horizontally. The cylinder shallnot be permitted to re-impact the test area after the first impact.The Type II CBCs interior and exterior surfaces shall bevisually examined for compliance with 3.4.4.
