3、onding of honeycomb sandwich panels. The adhesives are used for new production or depot repair. The adhesives shall be suitable for forming bonds that can withstand long exposures to temperatures from 55 to 93C (67 to 200F) and also withstand the combinations of stress, temperature, and relative hum

4、idity expected to be encountered in service.The adhesives shall be used for bonding aluminum alloy facing to nonmetallic core, edge attachments, and other components of a sandwich panel. 1.2 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard where only SI units are given or where SI un

Ordering Information 4.1 Procurement DocumentsPurchasers shall select any of the desired options offered herein and

17、 the procurement documents shall specify the following: 4.1.1 Title, number, and date of this specication; 4.1.2 Adhesive type and code number; 4.1.3 Amounts and unit quantities of adhesives required; 4.1.4 Length, width, and lm weight of adhesive; 4.1.5 Curing conditions; 4.1.6 Level of packaging a

18、nd packing required; and 4.1.7 Whether or not qualication (see 3.24.2) is necessary. 4.2 QualicationInthecaseofadhesivesforwhichthepurchaserrequiresqualication,comprehensivetestinginaccordance with Section 56 shall be performed and documented in a test report. 5. Requirements 5.1 MaterialThe adhesiv

19、e shall be thermosetting and, when tested using the tests described in Section 56, shall meet the strength and durability requirements of this specication. The adhesive shall not have a deleterious effect on the metal surfaces being bonded over the range of temperatures at which the adhesives will b

20、e used. 5.2 Form and Film WeightThe adhesive shall be lm form and shall consist either entirely of adhesive or of a carrier impregnated with adhesive. The lm weight shall be within the range specied in Table 1. 5.3 AppearanceThe adhesive lm shall be uniform in appearance. It shall be of a uniform co

21、ating that is free of streaks and color variations. 5.4 QualicationAt the option of the purchaser, the adhesive may be required to be a product (see 6.37.3) for listing on the applicablequaliedproductslistatthetimesetforopeningofbids.Thequalicationshallonlyapplytotheformulationonwhich qualication te

22、sts have been made.Any changes by the manufacturer, such as the adding of llers, changing the carrier, changing the method of manufacture, or changing the mass per unit area, shall be cause for designating the adhesive as a new product.The new product shall be given a new code number and shall not b

23、e approved until it has been shown to meet the requirements of the specication. E86512 25.5 Working Characteristics: 5.5.1 ApplicationThe adhesive shall be suitable for application to metal facings and core materials in accordance with the manufacturers instructions at temperatures between 18 and 30C (65 and 85F) and at relative humidities of up to 50%. 5.5.2 Cur

28、ingThe time, temperature, and pressure used to cure the adhesive shall be within the range specied herein. 5.5.2.1 CuringTimeandTemperatureTheadhesiveshallmeettherequirementsofthisspecicationwhencuredfornotlonger than 1 h at a bond line temperature not exceeding 145C (293F). 5.5.2.2 Curing PressureI

29、n the preparation of specimens fabricated for qualication, the pressure required for curing the adhesive shall not be less than 140 kPa (20 psi) nor more than 350 kPa (50 psi). 5.6 Storage LifeThe adhesive manufacturer shall determine the maximum temperature and the storage period at this temperatur

30、e (from date of manufacture) for which the adhesive, when stored in airtight containers or wrapped in suitable vapor barriers, will retain its ability to meet the strength requirements specied in Table 1. These storage conditions shall be stated in the instruction sheet (see 6.3.1.17.3.1.1). 5.7 Mec

31、hanical PropertiesThe average mechanical properties of the adhesive shall meet the requirements of Table 1. 6. Test Methods 6.1 Qualication TestsFor qualication, the adhesive shall be tested using the tests described in this section. Shear tests shall be performed in accordance with Test Method D100

32、2. 6.2 Preparation of Test SpecimensPrepare at least ten specimens for each separate test except as otherwise specied in the individual test methods.The metal bonded shall be 6061T6 or 5052H34 aluminum alloy (Federal Specication QQ-A-250/11d or QQ-A-250/8d, respectively, or Specication B209) cleaned

33、 as described in Practice E864 and at the purchasers option, primed in accordancewithSpecicationE866orSpecicationE1826.Timeandtemperatureofcuringoftheadhesiveshallbeinaccordance with the adhesive manufacturers most recent recommendation. Test panels or specimens, or both, other than the breakaway ty

34、pe shall be cut in such a manner that minimum vibration or heat is generated during the cutting operation. 6.3 Normal-Temperature Lap ShearSubject specimens to a lap shear test at normal temperature 256 3C (776 5F). 6.4 High-Temperature Lap ShearTest specimens at 606 3C (1406 5F) and 936 3C (2006 5F

35、). Bring the specimen to temperature as indicated by a thermocouple at the bond area and stabilize for 10 min just prior to test. Stabilize the chamber used to test the specimens at the test temperature for 45 min prior to testing. 6.5 Low-Temperature Lap ShearTest specimens at556 3C (676 5F). Bring

36、 the specimen to temperature as indicated by a thermocouple at the bond area and stabilize for 10 min just prior to test. Stabilize the chamber used to test the specimens at the test temperature for 45 min prior to testing. 6.6 Humidity Exposure Lap ShearTest lap shear specimens at 936 3C (2006 5F)

37、after 2 weeks exposure to 956 5% relative humidity and 936 3C (2006 5F). Bring the specimen to temperature as indicated by a thermocouple at the bond area and test within 2 min. The test chamber used to test the specimens shall be stabilized at the test temperature for at least 45 min prior to testi

38、ng. Start the test of each humidity exposure lap shear test specimen no later than 30 min after removing it from the humidity chamber. 6.7 Salt Spray Exposure Lap ShearTest specimens in accordance with the salt spray test of Practice B117 for 2 weeks exposure to salt spray using 5% NaCl solution at

39、356 3C (956 5F). 6.8 Normal-TemperatureFloatingRollerPeelTestspecimensatnormaltemperature2563C(7765F)inaccordancewith Test Method D3167. 6.9 Low-TemperatureFloatingRollerPeelTesteachspecimenat5563C(6765F).Bringthespecimentotemperature as indicated by a thermocouple at the bond area and stabilize for

40、 10 min just prior to testing. Stabilize the chamber used to test the specimen at the test temperature for 45 min prior to testing. 6.10 Dead Load Stress DurabilityTest the specimens in accordance with Test Method D2919. Maintain the conditions of the test chamber at 606 3C (1406 5F) and 956 5% rela

41、tive humidity. 6.11 Normal-Temperature Climbing Drum PeelTestvespecimens(constructedusinga50-mm(2-in.)deepcore,TypeIVof Specication E1091, and 0.5-mm (0.02-in.) skins) in the L direction for peel strength in accordance with Test Method D1781 using the load correction described in 7.1.28.1.2 of that

42、method. Make an autographic recording of force versus head movement. Test the specimen at normal temperature 256 3C (776 5F) and at a relative humidity of 506 10%. 6.12 High-Temperature Climbing Drum PeelTest ve specimens (constructed using a 50-mm (2-in.) deep core, Type IV of Specication E1091, an

43、d 0.5-mm (0.02-in.) skins) in accordance with 5.116.11, except stabilize the test temperature at 936 3C (200 6 5F) for 10 min as determined by a thermocouple adjacent to the specimen skin. The test chamber used to test the specimens shall be stabilized at the test temperature for at least 45 min pri

44、or to testing. 6.13 Flatwise Tensile StrengthTest ve specimens (constructed using 50-mm (2-in.) deep core, Type IV of Specication E1091, and 0.50-mm (0.02-in.) thick skins) in accordance with Test Method C297/C297M, except that 76.2 by 76.2-mm (3 by E86512 33-in.) test specimens shall be used with c

45、orresponding 76.2 by 76.2-mm (3 by 3-in.) tension blocks.Test the specimens at normal temperature 256 3C (776 5F) and at a relative humidity of 506 10%. NOTE 2Core may be dried prior to preparation of test specimen. 7. Inspection 7.1 Responsibility for InspectionUnless otherwise specied in the contr

46、act or purchase order, the supplier is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specied herein. Except as otherwise specied in the contract or order, the supplier may use his own or any other facilities suitable for the performance of inspection requirements specied herein u

47、nless disapproved by the purchaser. The purchaser has the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specication where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure compliance with the requirements. 7.2 Classication of InspectionsThe inspection requirements specied herein are classie

48、d as follows: 7.2.1 Qualication inspection (see 6.37.3), and 7.2.2 Quality conformance inspection (see 6.47.4). 7.3 Qualication Inspection: 7.3.1 Qualication TestUnless otherwise specied by the purchaser (see 3.24.2), adhesives that have not passed the qualication tests, or that have previously pass

49、ed the tests but have subsequently been modied in any manner, must be tested against this specication and shown to meet its requirements. 7.3.1.1 Instruction SheetA dated, coded, and titled instruction sheet that outlines instructions for use of the adhesive in bonding metal facings to paper cores and metal components shall be supplied by the manufacturer. These instructions shall be forwarded with the test report (see 6.3.37.3
