Material4.1 Test TubesTest tubes shall be made of borosilicateglass conforming to the requirements of Type I or of soda-limeglass conforming to the requirem

15、ents of Type II glass ofSpecification E 438.4.2 Screw CapsClass A and B screw caps shall be moldedof phenol-formaldehyde type resin, which is free of celluloseacetate and urea, in accordance with Specification D 700. ClassC screw cap shall be molded of polypropylene resin inaccordance with Specifica

16、tion D 2146. Screw caps shall notdeform, crack, turn color, or become tacky; and liners shall notdetach or become tacky when autoclaved the first time.4.3 LinersLiners for Class A screw caps shall be fabri-cated of resilient white rubber. Class B caps shall have apolytetrafluoroethylene liner interf

17、ace firmly bonded to theglued-in white rubber liner as described for Class A caps.4.4 AnnealingMaximum thermal residual stress shall bein accordance with Specification E 671.5. Design5.1 ShapeTest tubes covered by this specification shall betubular, with one end having a rounded closure.5.2 Capacity

18、Capacities on ungraduated tubes are onlyapproximate, but any graduation on Type II tubes shall indicatethe contained capacity within 65 % of nominal tube capacity.5.3 Types I and IIThe open end of Types I and II test tubesshall have a beaded rim; dimensions shall be as specified inTable 1.5.4 Type I

19、IIThe open end of Type III test tubes shall havea standard taper stopper. The joint and stopper shall be inaccordance with Specification E 675 and Table 1.5.5 Types IV, V, and VIIIThe open end of Types IV, V, andVIII test tubes shall be rimless and fire polished, dimensionsshall be as specified in T

20、able 1.5.6 Type VIThe open end of Type VI test tubes shall havea standard GPI thread finish made to accommodate a plasticscrew-on type cap. The inner edge of the cap shall besufficiently threaded with a continuous thread formed as anintegral part of the cap. The cap shall form a close fit with thetu

21、be to prevent loss of the contents. Class A and B screw capsshall be lined with tight-fitting cemented-in liner. Class Cscrew caps shall be one piece and shall contain no liner.Dimensions and threaded finish of the test tubes shall be asshown in Table 1.5.7 Type VIIThe open end of Type VII test tube

22、s shallhave a beaded rim and a ribbed sidearm near the open end.Dimensions shall be as specified in Table 1.5.8 Area for MarkingSide wall of test tubes (except TypesVII and VIII) may have an area that provides for marking. Thisarea shall be durable, fused-on white enamel or roughened bysandblasting.

23、6. Identification Marking6.1 Each test tube may be permanently and legibly markedwith the manufacturers name or trademark.7. Sampling and Testing7.1 For sampling, refer to Specification E 1157.8.
