Appearance4.1 There shall be no appreciable difference in shadingexcept on those finished products in which natur
11、al decorativecharacteristics are being simulated. These variances must beclearly stated in writing at the point of purchase. To determinewhether there is an appreciable difference, suspend threesequential 8-ft (2.4-m) strips at eye level in a vertical position,as on the wall, under illumination betw
12、een 100 to 150 fc (1000to 1500 lx), and view the strips from a distance between 4 and8 ft (1.2 and 2.4 m). Wall Preparation and Installation5
15、.1 Basic and correct wall preparation instructions, withparticular attention to wall covering which requires specialwall preparation for its proper installation, shall be included insample books and installation instructions.5.2 Installation instructions shall be in or with each bolt andbe readily a
16、ccessible to the installer. It shall be the manufac-turers responsibility to notify consumers of proper installationtechniques when new products are introduced.5.3 The manufacturer shall recommend an adhesive, whennecessary, and the products to be used for wall preparation.Recommendation for alterna
17、tive adhesives and wall prepara-tion products shall be included in the installation instructions.6. Physical Requirements6.1 Each finished product shall be uniform in physicalproperties, in accordance with Classification F 793 and thisspecification.6.2 All facings and protective layers shall be adhe
18、redproperly to backings and intermediate layers and the finishedproduct shall be of such quality that delamination does notoccur during normal installation and use.6.3 Finished products shall not chip, peel, or flake duringnormal installation and use. (For test methods to determineconformity with th
19、is requirement refer to Classification F 793.)6.4 There shall be no more than a18-in. (3.5-mm) variancein pattern match between two 8-ft (2.4-m) strips at midpoint.6.5 Wallcovering shall be free from all surface flaws,creases, splices, scratches, tears and dirt throughout its entirelength.6.6 Wallco
20、vering shall be free of wrinkles which cannot beremoved in the course of normal installation.6.7 Finished product shall not shrink or expand after instal-lation when installed in accordance with the manufacturersinstructions.6.8 Pretrimmed material shall be trimmed so that no con-trasting backing co
21、lor will show at the seam when two sheetsare properly installed.6.9 Pretrimmed material shall show no frayed or wavyedges.6.10 All elements of the pattern shall be in register.6.11 The design shall be set at an angle of 90 to thetrimmed edge.6.12 Split bolts narrow goods shall have no piece shortert
22、han 9 ft (2.7 m) and shall have an area at least 10 % larger thanspecified on the label. Three lengths are permitted in split boltshaving an area exceeding 100 ft2(9.3 m2). Wide commercialgoods shall have no piece shorter than 3 yd (2.7 m) andone-half linear yard larger than specified on the label.6
23、.13 The finished product shall have the necessary charac-teristics to adhere the product to the wall when it is installed inaccordance with the manufacturers instructions. (For testmethods to determine conformity with this requirement refer toClassification F 793.)7. Inspection and Testing7.1 Manufa
24、cturers shall be responsible for testing and in-spection in accordance with this specification and Classifica-tion F 793.7.2 The introduction of new products on the market shall bepreceded by thorough testing by the manufacturer underrepresentative field conditions. Manufacturers shall validatelabor
25、atory quality control tests against actual field conditions.8. Rejection and Review8.1 Wallcovering that fails to conform to the requirementsof this specification may be rejected by the installer orpurchaser. Rejections shall be reported to the supplier promptlyin person, by phone, or in writing, or
26、 any combination thereof.In the event the supplier is unwilling or unable to satisfy thecomplainant, the matter should be referred to the manufacturer.The inspection and test procedures contained in this specifica-tion shall be used to determine the conformance of the productto the requirements of t
27、his specification. Each manufacturerwho represents a product as conforming to this specificationmay use statistically based sampling plans that are appropriatefor each particular manufacturing process, but shall keep suchessential records as are necessary to document the claim thatthe requirements o
28、f this specification have been met.8.2 Any portion of the item not conforming to this specifi-cation shall be clearly marked as seconds if packaged for resaleat retail.9. Certification9.1 When specified in the purchase order or contract, amanufacturers or suppliers certification shall be furnished t
29、othe purchaser stating that samples representing each lot of thematerial have been manufactured, tested, and inspected inaccordance with this specification and the requirements havebeen met.10. Product Marking10.1 Finished products up to 42 in. (107 cm) in width shallbe labeled with the following in
30、formation: pattern number, lot(batch) run number, length, width, total area of material(excluding border), supplier name and address and type ofmaterial when appropriate.10.2 Finished products exceeding 42 in. (107 cm) in widthshall be labeled with the following information: lot (batch),run, length,
31、 width, suppliers name and address and type ofmaterial when appropriate.10.3 On a wallcovering where direction of hanging isambiguous, the manufacturer shall indicate the proper directionon each separate length.10.4 Bolts classified as seconds shall be prominently labeledas such.10.5 Murals shall be
32、 properly numbered for sequence ofsheets. If a numbering sequence is not used, a precise layoutdiagram shall be provided.10.6 A split bolt shall be identified as such.11. Product Packaging and Shipment11.1 The finished products shall be packaged to preventdamage in shipment.11.2 Shrink wrapping shal
