3、npipe systems with nominal pipe sizes (NPS) 1 through 48 in.(25 through 1200 mm) which are to be used for all fluidsapproved by the authority having jurisdiction in marine pipingsystems.1.2 The dimensionless designator NPS has been substitutedfor traditional terms as “nominal diameter,” “size,” and

4、“nomi-nal size.”1.3 Values stated in inch-pound are to be regarded as thestandard. Values given in parentheses are for information only.1.4 The following safety hazards caveat pertains to the testmethods which are included in this specification. 18、 pipeor fitting.3.2.2.1 DiscussionFor conveying nonconducting fluids(those having conductance less than 1000 pico-Siemens permetre), pipe systems which are continuously or homoge-neously conductive or have conductivity from the insidesurface to the outside surface are recommended. In accordancewith

Performance Requirements

31、6.1 Internal PressureAll components included in thepiping system shall have pressure ratings suitable for theintended service. Pressure ratings shall be determined inaccordance with Appendix X1 using the method specified bythe customer or a longer-term method, if available. If, forexample, a Rating

32、Method 2medium-term test is specifiedand data for Rating Method 3long-term test is available, thenthe long-term test data is acceptable. Note that for somecomponents, particularly specialty fittings, long-term testing isnot practical and ratings for these items will typically bedetermined using Rati

33、ng Test Method 1.6.2 External PressureAll pipe included in the pipingsystem shall have external pressure ratings suitable for theintended service. External pressure ratings shall be determinedby dividing the results of Test Method D 2924 by a minimumsafety factor of 3.6.3 Fire EnduranceThe piping sy

34、stem shall have the fireendurance required by the authority having jurisdiction basedon the intended location and service. Fire endurance shall bedetermined using the appropriate method in Appendix X2.6.4 Flame SpreadThe authority having jurisdiction shalldesignate any flame spread requirements base

35、d on the locationof the piping. For ships, mobile offshore drilling units(MODUs), and floating oil production platforms subject to therequirements of SOLAS or Title 46 of the U.S. Code of FederalRegulations, performance shall be determined by test proce-dures given in IMO Resolution MSC.61(67), Anne

36、x 1, Part5Test for Surface Flammability, as modified for pipes inAppendix 3 of IMO Resolution A.753(18).6.5 Smoke and Other Toxic Products of CombustionTheauthority having jurisdiction shall designate any smoke andtoxicity requirements based on the location of the piping. Forships, MODUs, and floati

37、ng oil production platforms subject tothe requirements of SOLAS or Title 46 of the U.S. Code ofFederal Regulations, performance shall be determined by testprocedures given in IMO Resolution MSC.61(67), Annex 1,Part 2Smoke and Toxicity Test, as modified in B.9.0 ofAppendix BFire Performance Tests.6.6

38、 TemperatureThe maximum working temperatureshall be at least 36F (20C) less than the minimum glasstransition temperature (determined in accordance with TestMethod D 5028 or equivalent) or heat distortion temperature(determined in accordance with ISO 75 Method A, or equiva-lent) of the resin or plast

39、ic material. The minimum glasstransition temperature or heat distortion temperature, which-ever is less, shall not be less than 176F (80C).NOTE 1Glass transition temperature shall be used for in-processquality control testing (reference 9.1.4, 9.2.4, and 9.3.3).6.7 Material CompatibilityThe piping m

40、aterial shall bechemically compatible with the fluid being carried and anyfluid in which it will be immersed.6.8 Electrical ResistanceConductive piping systems shallhave a resistance per unit length not to exceed 3.05 3 104V/ft(1 3 105V/m) when tested in accordance with Appendix X3.Resistance to ear

41、th at any location on an installed pipingsystem required to be conductive shall be no greater than 1 3106V.6.9 Static Charge ShieldingConductive piping systemsshall have a maximum resulting voltage not to exceed 1 % ofthe supply voltage induced on the exterior surface of the pipewhen tested in accor

42、dance with Appendix X3.6.10 Potable Water UsageThe material, including pipe,fittings, adhesive, and any elastomeric gaskets required shallhave no adverse effect on the health of personnel when used forpotable water service. Material shall conform to NationalSanitation Standard 61 or meet the require

43、ments of FDARegulations 21 CFR 175.105 and 21 CFR 177.2280, 21 CFR177.2410, or 21 CFR177.2420.7. Other Requirements7.1 FlangesStandard flanges shall have bolt patterns inaccordance with ANSI B16.5 Class 150 for nominal pipe sizes24-in. and smaller and in accordance with ANSI B16.1 Class125 for large

44、r flanges. Consult the manufacturers literature forbolt length, torque specifications, and tightening sequence.7.2 Military UsagePiping and fittings used in militaryapplications shall comply with the provisions of Appendix D,Supplementary Requirements to Specification F 1173 for U.S.Navy use.8. Work

45、manship and Appearance8.1 All pipe, fittings, and spools shall be visually inspectedfor compliance with the requirements stated in Table 1, and, ifappropriate, either repaired or rejected. After all minor repairs,a pressure test in accordance with 9.1.1, 9.2.1,or9.3.1 shall beperformed on the compon

46、ent.9. Inspection and Sampling9.1 Pipe:9.1.1 Pressure TestsA minimum of 5 % of pipe jointsshall be tested at a pressure of not less than 1.5 times the pipesystem pressure rating.9.1.2 Lot SizeA lot of pipe shall consist of 150 joints, orfractions thereof, of one size, wall thickness, and grade incon

47、tinuous production.9.1.3 Short-Term Burst TestsShort-term hydrostatic bursttests shall be conducted in accordance with Test MethodD 1599 at a minimum frequency of one test per lot. If themeasured value is less than 85 % of the published value, the lotis rejected or subject to retest.9.1.4 Degree of

48、CureThe glass transition temperature(Tg) shall be determined at a minimum frequency of one testper production lot. If the measured value is more than 10F lessthan the value in the manufacturers specification, the lot isrejected or subject to retest.9.1.5 Glass ContentThe glass content (mass fraction

49、 ex-pressed as percentage) of at least one sample per production lotshall be determined in accordance with Test Method D 2584.Ifthe measured glass content is not within 5 % of the value in themanufacturers specification, the lot is rejected or subject toretest.9.1.6 Wall ThicknessTotal wall thickness and reinforcedwall thickness shall be determined in accordance with PracticeD 3567 once per every production lot.
