Significance and Use4.1 The test results enable the comparison of A-weightedsound emission from vacuum cleaners when tested under th

16、econdition of this test method.5. Test Room Requirements5.1 The test room shall be semi-reverberant. It shall containsufficiently little sound absorption material so the requirementsof 5.2 can be met. It should be large enough to meet thedimension requirements of 5.2.5.1.1 When a central vacuum clea

17、ner motorized nozzle is tobe tested, the test room should be plumbed for a centralvacuum system according to the manufacturers instructionsusing standard 2.00-in. diameter thin-wall PVC tubing. Asingle wall inlet shall be located in the test room.5.2 Identify a location on the test room floor which

18、canaccommodate six equally spaced microphone positions 60apart located at a height of 60 in. (1.5 m) above the floor on a12 ft (3.6 m) diameter circle the center of which is the centerof the sound source. These positions shall result in a standarddeviation of the six sound pressure measurements of n

Refer to Figs. 1-4 for typicallayouts.5.3 EnvironmentalAmbient test conditions within the testroom shall be controlled to within 70 6 5F (21 6

When the steady background-noise sound pressurelevel is more than 6 dB below the sound pressure level at eachmeasurement point, the measured A-weighted sound pressurelevels shall be corrected for the influence of background noiseaccording to Table

22、1. If this difference is less than 6 dB nocorrection is allowed and any reported data must include a noteindicating that the background noise requirements of thisstandard were not satisfied.6. Instrumentation and Equipment6.1 Acoustical InstrumentationThe sound measurementsystem shall be as specifie

Operation of Vacuum Cleaner7.1 Run-InOperate new test cleaners continuously

27、for atleast 1 h prior to testing. Canister cleaners shall be run openwith no hose attached. Upright and power nozzles shall be runso that the rotating brush does not engage the carpet or thefloor.7.2 Warm-UpOperate the cleaners for 10 min just prior tomaking sound pressure level measurements in the

Momentary or instantaneous speeds are notto be used.7.3.5 For straight air canister cleaners use the same settingspecified in Test Method F 608 for cleaning multilevel carpet, which is as follows:7.3.5.1 If various settings are provided, set the motorsetting, suction regulator, or nozz

If no specific instructions are given, or ifjudged to be inadequate or unclear, position the nozzle on thecarpet so the maximum suction is provided, taking care tomaintain the tilt angle through

Momentary orinstantaneous speeds are not to be used.7.3.6 VoltageTests are to be conducted at the nameplatevoltage (61 %) and frequency (61 Hz) throughout the test. For cleaners with dual nameplate voltage ratings, conductsound tests at the highest voltage.7.3.7 Central Vacuum Power Uni

33、tThe central vacuumpower unit shall be remotely located (outside the semi-reverberate room) so that the noise levels generated by thepower unit do not affect the test results of the central vacuum(motorized or straight air) nozzle being tested.8. Location of Sound Sources and Equipment8.1 Carpet and

34、 PadLay the carpet and pad on the floorwith the geometric center of the carpet directly over the centerof the circle defined in 5.2.8.2 Locate the vacuum cleaner or the reference soundsource at the position determined in 5.2.All modules (generallythe motor/blower and its housing in the base of an up

The re

Position the second module insuch a way that,

38、to the maximum extent possible, its soundemissions are not shielded by the principal module, and viceversa. For example, a position shall be such that air exhaustnoise will radiate into the room in a direction other than towardthe second module.8.2.3 HandleAny operating handle shall be separatelysup

See Annex A1 for a procedural exampleand to determine if additional test runs need to be conducted.10.8 A minimum of two additional test units of the samemodel must be selected in
