16、Terms Specific to This Standard:3.1.1 filter, or straining elementthe replaceable compo-nent in a strainer that performs the barrier separation of solidparticles from flowing fluid. It shall be removable for cleaningand servicing.3.1.2 maximum allowable working pressure (MAWP) thehighest internal pr
17、essure that the strainer can be subjected to inservice. The maximum non-shock working pressure for whicha strainer is rated by the manufacturer on its nameplate.3.1.3 maximum design temperaturethe maximum tem-perature for which a strainer is rated by the manufacturer.3.1.4 strainera device which, wh
18、en installed in a pipeline,provides a mechanical means of removing suspended solidsfrom flowing liquid.3.1.5 Straining element open area. The net effective openarea of the clean element through which the fluid can pass.4. Classification4.1 Strainers shall be furnished as Type I fuel oil or Type IIlu
19、bricating oil. The strainers may be either hydraulic, electric,or pneumatic operated.5. Ordering Information5.1 Orders for strainers under this specification shall includethe following:5.1.1 This specification number,5.1.2 Operating and design requirements for flow rate,pressure, temperature, nomina

Materials and Manufacture6.1 The strainer shall be designed to remove contaminatingor unwanted solid particles, or both,
23、from fuel oil and lube oil.The self-cleaning action shall be automatic, and shall have theability to backwash, when required, the filtered fluid throughthe filter element in segments such that the contaminatingparticles are flushed free of the filter element. The self-cleaningaction of each unit sha
24、ll be driven by a motor (electric,pneumatic, or hydraulic.)6.2 ComponentsEach strainer assembly shall consist of ahousing with a removable cover, inlet and outlet connections,filter/straining element(s), self-cleaning mechanism(s),controls, and a differential pressure gauge. The strainer unitshall h
25、ave suitable supports. The cross-sectional flow areathroughout the unit shall be equal to or greater than that of thepiping to which the strainer is connected.6.2.1 HousingThe strainer housing, cover, flanges, andother items which form the pressure boundary shall conform tothe requirements of the AS
26、ME Boiler and Pressure VesselCode: Section VIII, Division 1, Pressure Vessels. Cast greyiron pressure retaining components shall not be used. Unitsrequiring ASME stamp shall have it specified in the purchaseagreement. The dirty oil inlet shall be located at the lower partof the body and arranged to
27、help prevent contamination of theclean outlet side of the strainer during disassembly.6.2.2 CoverThe removable cover shall be secured to thehousing by threaded fasteners. Removal of the cover shallprovide access to all internal components and shall not requireunbolting the inlet and outlet strainer
28、piping connections.Cover lifting devices with integral supports or lifting eyes shallbe required for covers weighing more than 30 lb.6.2.2.1 Antispray featureThe strainer cover shall contain adevice to deflect fluid spray downward in the event of gasketfailure. The spray deflector shall remain in po
29、sition at all timeswhen the cover is connected to the housing.6.2.3 GasketThe gasket or o-ring shall be capable ofproviding a positive seal under service and test conditions. Thegasket shall be installed between the cover and strainerhousing. This gasket shall be in place during the hydrostaticpress
30、ure test.6.2.4 Pipe and Flange DimensionsThe inlet and outletflanges shall be sized and drilled to conform with ANSI B16.5,Class 150 or 300, or as specified in the ordering data (see 5.1.3and ANSI B 16.42).6.2.5 Element SupportThe filter element support shall notpermanently deform when the assembly
31、of the filter elementand element support is subjected to the strength of internals test(see 9.3.3). The element support shall be designed to facilitateeasy removal of the filter element and element support as oneassembly. The element support must satisfy the flow arearequirements of 6.2.6.6.2.6 Filt
32、er ElementThe filter element may be furnishedin any corrosion resistant material compatible with the fluid inservice. The filter element shall be attached to the elementsupport in such a manner that it can be easily removed andreplaced from the element support. The straining element openarea shall b
33、e at least two to four times larger than the area ofthe strainer discharge connection.6.2.7 MotorThe self-cleaning action of each unit shall beoperated by a motor included as a part of the strainer. Thismotor can be hydraulic, electric or pneumatic.6.2.7.1 Hydraulic motorAmotor exhaust connection si
34、zedto meet the strainer hydraulic motor shall be provided. Thismotor exhaust connection shall also be suitable for venting airduring the initial fill and pressurization.6.2.7.2 Electric motorElectric motors shall be fractionalhorsepower, TEFC, NEMA design B, with a continuous rated1.15 service facto
35、r or equivalent. Voltage, phase and cyclerating shall be stated in the purchase document.F1567 94 (2013)26.2.7.3 Pneumatic motorDesign type shall be agreed uponbetween the purchaser and manufacturer.6.2.8 Backflush StructureThe backflush structure shallperiodically or continuously clean all of the f
36、ilter element bybackflushing system fluid through the element. The structureshall clean the filter element in segments so as not to disrupt thesystem flow through the strainer at any time. All impuritiesseparated shall be isolated from the filtered liquid and dis-charged. All shaft penetrations shal
37、l require seals suitable foroil service.6.2.9 ConnectionsThe inlet and outlet connections shallbe flanged. The inlet and outlet shall be permanently markedand identified.6.2.9.1 Drain connections shall be provided. These connec-tions shall be furnished with caps or plugs.6.2.9.2 The unit shall have
38、a suitable means of removingsludge from the strainer when it is isolated from service orduring normal operation.6.2.10 Lifting AttachmentsEach housing and the covershall be provided with suitable sling attachment areas forlifting in a normal position. If lifting eyes are used, each eyeshall have the
39、 capability to carry the total weight.6.2.11 MountingFree standing strainers shall be mountedby feet attached to the housing. Each foot must be providedwith a suitable hole to accommodate one hold-down bolt.6.3 WeldingWelding for nonpressure-boundary compo-nents shall be in accordance with the AWS S
40、tructural WeldingCode. Welding for pressure boundary components shall be inaccordance with the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code.6.4 Treatment and PaintingThe exterior of the strainershall be treated and painted in accordance with standardcommercial practice.6.5 MaterialDuctile iron, bronze, carb
41、on steel, and stain-less steel materials used in the fabrication of the automaticself-cleaning strainer shall not affect nor be affected bypetroleum products. Materials shall be in accordance withASTM or ASME specifications. Dissimilar metal connectionsshall be designed to provide optimum corrosion
42、protection.6.6 SealsStrainer seals shall be elastomers suitable for thisservice.7. Operating Requirements7.1 PressureThe strainer shall be suitable for operation inthe range of 0.21 to 1.03 MPa (30 to 150 psi).7.2 TemperatureThe strainer shall be suitable for opera-tion between 15 to 120C (60 to 250
43、F) unless otherwisespecified in the ordering data (see 5.1.2).7.3 Shipboard PerformanceStrainers shall be capable ofoperating in accordance with all requirements of this specifi-cation when subjected to the purchase agreement specified shipmotion and attitude constraints (see 5.1.7).7.4 Self-Cleanin
44、g RateThe pressure drop through thestrainer assembly shall not exceed the manufacturers maxi-mum rated pressure drop during operation. Specifically, theself-cleaning mechanism shall be capable of maintaining thepressure drop below this value when contaminated fluid isbeing pumped through the straine
45、r at the design flow specifiedin 5.1.2.8. Workmanship8.1 WorkmanshipThe strainer and its components shall befree from blow holes, porosity, hard spots, shrinkage defectsand cracks. All surfaces shall be smooth and clean (referenceMSS SP55). Where dimensions and tolerances affectinterchangeability, o
46、peration, or performance or any combina-tion thereof, they shall be held.8.2 CleaningThe strainer shall be cleaned of all extrane-ous material and dried.9. Tests9.1 Each strainer will have standard hydrostatic tests per-formed in accordance with Specifications F1199 or F1200whichever is applicable.
47、When specified as part of the purchaseagreement, a detailed test plan may be submitted for approval.The performance, prototype and operational tests listed herein,shall be performed to prove the design. All strainers producedunder this specification will meet these minimum require-ments. Proof of te
48、st qualification shall be provided whenspecified in the purchase agreement.9.2 Test ExtensionsWhen the following conditions aresatisfied, extension of a product test of one size to qualifyanother size is permitted (see Table 1):9.2.1 Similar geometry and design characteristics.9.2.2 Similar or stron
49、ger material than the tested unit.9.2.3 Same pressure rating.9.2.4 Similar or stronger end connections.9.2.5 Similar sealing configurations.9.2.6 Same mode of operation and operator attachment.9.3 Operational Tests:9.3.1 Flow Capacity TestThe test shall be performed ingeneral accordance with Practice F795. The pressure drop atthe rated flow shall not exceed 0.07 MPa (10 psi) with a fluidviscosity of 250 SSU.9.3.2 Inclined Flow Capacity TestThe flow capacity testin 9.3.1 will be performed at a list and trim angle of 30.9.3.3 Strength o
