3、 coppercrimp rings for use with cross-linked polyethylene (PEX)tubing in38 ,12 ,58 ,34 , and 1 in. and 114 nominal diametersthat meet the requirements for Specifications F 876 and F 877.These fittings are intended for use in 100 psi (689.5 kPa) cold-and hot-water distribution systems operating at te

4、mperaturesup to, and including, 180F (82C). The requirements formaterials, workmanship, dimensions, and markings to be usedon the fittings and rings are also included.1.2 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regardedas the standard. The values given in parentheses are mathemati-cal conver

5、sions to SI units which are provided for informationonly and are not considered the standard.1.3 Compliance with this specification requires that thesefittings be tested and certified to Specification F 877.1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of thesafety concerns, if any, associated w

General Requirements6.1 The following sections of Specification F 877 constitutea part of this specification.6.1.1 Requirements,6.1.2 Test Methods, and6.1.3 Retest and Rejection.6.2 In addition, when a section with a title identical to thatreferenced in 6.1 appe

25、ars in this specification, it containsadditional requirements that supplement those appearing inSpecification F 877.6.3 DimensionsAny randomly selected fitting or fittings,and crimp ring or crimp rings, shall be used to determinedimensions. Measurements shall be made in accordance withTest Method D

26、2122, except when determining diameters,which is done by making measurements at four locationsspaced approximately 45 apart around the circumference.Inspection and gauging of solder joint ends shall be inaccordance with ASME B16.18, ASME B16.22, or MSSSP-104.6.4 GeneralAll performance tests shall be

27、 performed onassemblies of fittings, crimp rings, and PEX tubing. Fittingsand crimp rings shall meet the material and dimensionalrequirements of this specification. PEX tubing shall meet therequirements of Specifications F 876 or F 877. Assembly oftest specimens shall be in accordance with 9.1.1. Us

28、e separatesets of assemblies for each performance test requirement.7. Dimensions7.1 Dimensions and TolerancesThe dimensions and tol-erances of fittings and crimp rings shall be as shown in Fig. 1,Fig. 2, Fig. 3, and Fig. 4, when measured in accordance with6.3.7.1.1 AlignmentThe maximum angular varia

29、tion of anyopening shall not exceed 1 off the true centerline axis.7.1.2 Fittings with Solder Joint EndsSolder joint endsshall be in accordance with ASME B16.22, ASME B16.18,orMSS SP-104.7.1.3 Tapered Threaded EndsFitting threads shall beright-hand conforming to ASME B1.20.1. They shall be taperthre

30、ads (NPT).8. Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance8.1 The sealing surfaces of the insert shall be smooth andfree of foreign material. Fitting walls shall be free of cracks,holes, blisters, voids, foreign inclusions, or other defects thatare visible to the unaided eye and affect the wall integrity.9. A

31、ssembly9.1 Crimp JointsInsert fittings shall be joined to PEXtubing by the compression of a copper crimp ring around theouter circumference of the tubing, forcing the tubing materialinto annular spaces formed by ribs on the fitting. Insert fittingsand crimp rings shall meet the dimensional and mater

32、ialrequirements of this standard. PEX tubing shall meet therequirements of Specifications F 876 or F 877. The dimensionsand out-of-roundness of the crimp ring, after it has beencrimped, shall be in accordance with Table 1.9.1.1 Crimping ProcedureThe crimping procedure shallbe as follows: slide the c

33、rimp ring onto the tubing, insert theribbed end of the fitting into the end of the tubing until thetubing contacts the shoulder of the fitting or tube stop. Thecrimp ring shall then be positioned on the tubing so the edge ofthe crimp ring is18 to14 in. (3.2 to 6.4 mm) from the end ofthe tube. The ja

34、ws of the crimping tool shall be centered overthe crimp ring and the tool shall be held so that the crimpingjaws are approximately perpendicular to the axis of the barb.The jaws of the crimping tool shall be closed around the crimpring, compressing the crimp ring onto the tubing. Quality Assurance11.1 When the product or product packing is marked withthe ASTM designation F 1807, the manufacturer affirms thatthe product was manufactured, inspected, sampled, and testedin accordance with this specification, and has been found tomeet its requirements.1
