3、1.1 This specification covers metal insert fittings and coppercrimp rings for use with cross-linked polyethylene (PEX)tubing in38 ,12 ,58 ,34 ,1,114 ,112 , and 2 in. nominaldiameters that meet the requirements for Specifications F876and F877and for use with polyethylene of raised temperature(PE-RT)

4、tubing in38 ,12 ,58 ,34 and 1 in. and 114 in. nominaldiameters that meet the requirements of Specifications F2623and F2769. These fittings are intended for use in 100 psi (689.5kPa) cold- and hot-water distribution systems operating attemperatures up to, and including, 180F (82C). The require-ments

5、for materials, workmanship, dimensions, and markingsto be used on the fittings and rings are also included.1.2 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regardedas the standard. The values given in parentheses are mathemati-cal conversions to SI units which are provided for informationonly and

6、 are not considered the standard.1.3 Compliance with this specification requires that thesefittings be tested and certified to Specification F877 when usedwith PEX tubing and Specification F2769 when used withPE-RT tubing.1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of thesafety concerns, if an

General Requirements6.1 When fittings manufactured according to this specifica-tion are intended for use with the PEX tubing, the followingsections of Specification F877 constitute a part o

26、f this specifi-cation.6.1.1 Requirements,6.1.2 Test Methods, and6.1.3 Retest and Rejection.6.2 In addition, when a section with a title identical to thatreferenced in 6.1 appears in this specification, it containsadditional requirements that supplement those appearing inSpecification F877.6.3 When f

27、ittings manufactured according to this specifica-tion are intended for use with PE-RT tubing, the followingsections of Specification F2769 constitute a part of thisspecification:6.3.1 Requirements,6.3.2 Test Methods, and6.3.3 Retest and Rejection.6.4 In addition, when a section with a title identica

28、l to thatreferenced in 6.3 appears in this specification, it containsadditional requirements that supplement those appearing inSpecification F2769.6.5 DimensionsAny randomly selected fitting or fittings,and crimp ring or crimp rings, shall be used to determinedimensions. Measurements shall be made i

29、n accordance withTest Method D2122, except when determining diameters,which is done by making measurements at four locationsspaced approximately 45 apart around the circumference.Inspection and gauging of solder joint ends shall be inaccordance with ASME B16.18, ASME B16.22,orMSSSP-104.6.6 GeneralAl

30、l performance tests shall be performed onassemblies of fittings, crimp rings, and PEX tubing or PE-RTtubing. Fittings and crimp rings shall meet the material anddimensional requirements of this specification. PEX tubingshall meet the requirements of Specifications F876 or F877.PE-RT tubing shall mee

31、t the requirements of SpecificationF2769.Assembly of test specimens shall be in accordance with9.1.1. 33、s and TolerancesThe dimensions and tol-erances of fittings and crimp rings shall be as shown in Fig. 1,Fig. 2, Fig. 3, and Fig. 4, when measured in accordance with6.5.7.1.1 AlignmentThe maximum angular variation of anyopening shall not exceed 1 off the true centerline axis.7.1.2 Fittings with Solder

34、 Joint EndsSolder joint endsshall be in accordance with ASME B16.22, ASME B16.18,orMSS SP-104.FIG. 1 Fitting Insert Dimensions and TolerancesF1807 1037.1.3 Tapered Threaded EndsFitting threads shall beright-hand conforming to ASME B1.20.1. They shall be taperthreads (NPT).8. Workmanship, Finish, and

35、 Appearance8.1 The sealing surfaces of the insert shall be smooth andfree of foreign material. Fitting walls shall be free of cracks,holes, blisters, voids, foreign inclusions, or other defects thatare visible to the unaided eye and affect the wall integrity.9. Assembly9.1 Crimp JointsInsert fitting

36、s shall be joined to PEXtubing or PE-RT tubing by the compression of a copper crimpring around the outer circumference of the tubing, forcing thetubing material into annular spaces formed by ribs on thefitting. Insert fittings and crimp rings shall meet the dimen-sional and material requirements of

37、this standard. PEX tubingshall meet the requirements of Specifications F876 or F877.PE-RT tubing shall meet the requirements of SpecificationF2769. The dimensions and out-of-roundness of the crimp ring,after it has been crimped, shall be in accordance with Table 1.9.1.1 Crimping ProcedureThe crimpin

38、g procedure shallbe as follows: slide the crimp ring onto the tubing, insert theribbed end of the fitting into the end of the tubing until thetubing contacts the shoulder of the fitting or tube stop. Forfitting sizes38 to 114 in. the crimp ring shall then be positionedon the tubing so the edge of th

39、e crimp ring is18 to14 in. (3.2to 6.4 mm) from the end of the tube. For 112 in. fitting size thecrimp ring shall be positioned14 to38 in. (6.4 to 9.5 mm) fromthe end of tube. For 2 in. fitting size the crimp ring shall bepositioned38 to12 in. (9.5 to 12.7 mm) from the end of thetube. The jaws of the

40、 crimping tool shall be centered over thecrimp ring and the tool shall be held so that the crimping jawsare approximately perpendicular to the axis of the barb. Thejaws of the crimping tool shall be closed around the crimp ring,compressing the crimp ring onto the tubing. The crimp ringshall not be c

41、rimped more than once. Product Marking10.1 Quality of MarkingThe marking shall be applied tothe fittings in such a manner that it remains legible afterinstallation and inspection.10.2 Content of Marking:10.2.1 Marking on fittings shall include man

49、ufacturersname or trademark, or some other identifying mark, and if sizepermits, PEX/PE-RT or the ASTM standard number, or acombination thereof.10.2.1.1 Where recessed marking is used on fittings, careshall be taken to see that the marking shall not cause cracks orreduce the wall thickness below the minimum specified.10.2.2 Marking on packaging shall include manufacturersname, fitting size, and ASTM F1807.10.2.3 Marking on crimp rings shall include manufacturerstrademark, or some other identifying
